New lore would be nice, specifically because the lore of the old world was so all over the place as it was made as it went

I feel like a fresh start would be much better than trying to recreate the same thing over again, now I don't mean tell people "NO YOU CAN'T USE THAT SAME NAME AND YOU CAN'T MAKE YOUR CHARACTER A DWARF EITHER!" what I am suggesting is start off the server as if its a different timeline or as if the last iteration of Caphori didn't happen.

Edit: Plus too I don't think there is enough "New Technology" to justify a large leap in time

I'm going to add this as an option on the poll, although it'll be a lot harder to create a new lore than just working with what we used to have.

Uh, it'll be more fun, you have the chance to make it better, more interesting, etc.
Making new lore is sometimes, if not most of the time a good thing, assuming you do it correctly.

Pretty much, this will be long after the last server. Matter is going to be the current lord of the current village.
Until the Story events are going to get in the way.

Oh thank god it's going to be a village not uber super city with giant unused castle? I mean was awesome to look at and everything but it took up so much space for a Queen/King who was never there.

I think that the city should evolve over time to a more bustling residential/market place, but honestly a large castle is definitely not needed. Especially since if new technology to this point has been made the culture should be past large useless monuments or castles.

I was hoping for multiple maps...
But since that may never be implemented, I've got to rethink some things

We're definitely going to try like hell.
But there's a difference in making something that everyone will know and like, and then there's new and exciting that people may not care about.

It's hard to make the right decision, but sometimes a good one will have to do.

I was not trolling. Havent you see the unicorn heads and the balls? You hold the unicorn heads like if you ride a horse. Great RP. And there are beach balls, you can play with them. They are difficult to control.

I was actually thinking this over and had an idea. Caphori could have been a relatively isolated region that made it fairly difficult to get to. This could have been why the tech was so behind as opposed to the rest of the world.

Well... A it's been said before the technology has never been too advanced. Iseyu is caught in a drift in time and space, so all sorts of things show up from different worlds and places... Might explain the boss monsters as well...

So what's going to be happening now with Starbound in beta (with multiplayer to my belief) with Terrarai server? Will it continue as planned for about four months at best of life before starbound is most likely released fully? Or will effort be placed into getting a a starbound lore story/characters and all that ready for it's full release if the beta multiplayer is unplayable for our roleplay

Personally I'm not interested in Starbound, at the moment. This could change, but I'm more here for the medieval fantasy setting.

But that's just me.

That comment was directed towards the creators of Terraria, if you didn't read the whole sentence. I've played Starbound a bit too and multiplayer wise I think it is superior to Terraria, but they both have their positives and negatives especially roleplay wise. A lot more customization in Starbound and the ability to be truly unique, plus the text is easy to read and doesn't have really really tiny text limit per message.

Just on that point, the text limit per message for Terraria was increased by quite a bit in the 1.2 patch.

Maybe by association with Redigit. I wasn't too happy when they announced that they would stop updating Terraria, but I guess they changed their minds. I still have a sour taste in my mouth though.

Starbound is pretty damn awesome wise with chairs/beds and all that being interatable improving rp from standing next to a chair and /me sits
Now Starbound is totally different to Terraria with it being in space age era but there is still the option of roleplaying a primitive like species as the game has swords/ axes / pickaxes etc (Star Trek anyone?) You don't have to Roleplay being some space commander it's all down to what you make of it and what you wish to do. Personally I think it'd be pretty interesting roleplay if someone beams down to medieval village all the things that could happen, would you be welcomed or shunned for being some kind of demon? Who knows

Rebel Snow trooper armour?
It's called Snow Infantry armour (Chest, Legs, Helmet) and it's made from leather with 13 on each piece defense and protection from the cold 48 cold protection on chest so it's pretty damn good if anyone's in need of some easy decent armour for starbound

Nagging to get on the server isn't helping you, also it doesn't make sense since the server hasn't even gone up yet. Be patience and be a good person who contributes to the forum and try again at a later date. By later date I don't mean within the next month. Or do what most people do and learn how to roleplay, come back and make a new account then try again. If you still fail then you really just shouldn't be on this server obviously.

Honestly man.

No one is good at roleplaying at first. When you start out it feels awkward, and you feel like an idiot for trying it. Time and time again, you'll try it more and more. Then you get used to the idea and you can pull it off like it's an everyday occurrence. Hell, most of the people who have roleplayed with me could probably say I'm not the greatest roleplayer, but I tap into the spirit of it all... I try to become someone I'm not, the very character I play becomes another side of my own self.

Just go practice, watch some D&D streams, chill out with friends and casually suggest it. You'll get it eventually.
Pretty much this, we all started somewhere.

If you don't feel like going around too far to find out about proper roleplaying, you could look around here:

http://www.forums.hypergamer.net/f-roleplay/ (http://www.forums.hypergamer.net/f-roleplay/)

I haven't checked it myself, but I'm sure there's plenty to learn from in there.  I'm wondering if I should try making an RP thread specifically made for training new and potential roleplayers.  I'm no recruiter, but I've trained several seemingly hopeless cases into developed, literate roleplayers, so I do have experience.  Problem is, the time it takes to develop a proper roleplayer varies.  Some take a few days... others a few months.  I believe that the roleplayer must learn the ropes themselves, not be ordered to or be bombarded with "tips and advice."  They should learn by example and experimentation.  What do you guys think?  Should I try to give it a shot?

I haven't play Starbound yet, but I think you have a spaceship and a lot of planets. If the action takes place in one of the planets, how do you arrive them? With a spaceship per player? Or do you spawn there?
