We're considering resetting the map.

Do it?

Y/Y

Yes!
I'm hip! What are you talking about!

ive seen the map , i think its time for some change

If the reset of the map were to happen then is it likely that resetting the map will become commonplace, or is this just a one off? Also what kind of map would we want to be generated and how long will it be before the map is reset?

Way to make it so you can vote for everything. I think you should restart your poll.

haha you noticed  that to :)

I would be all for it, If i could use... i dunno, Mc edit to make a Boat/hq for my faction? if not, then i'd really rather not, i got everything nicely laid out. aslo, would a map change effect inventories? i'm guessing not.

Reset vote due to stupid options.

You all going to give up this easily? The amount of effort I spent in to building in this server theres no way that is just going to be just another waste of time. The world is a mess yes, but why dont you go and do somthing about it? Go and get some supplies, mae a village, town or city. You dont need admins to help you, the castle me and matt made was completely from mined cobble stone. Look at the quote below this message, take into account what it means, and help make Aceon a better place without resetting the map.
Do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!

If Admins would use world edit/Giving themselves a load of Dirt (If world edit doesn't work to make hills) then the admins that caused the total amount of shit on the map could fix it easily.

Oh boy.
Strap yourselves in, it's time for the great 'obligatory' SRP resurrection of 2013/14/15/16/22

I think leaving the server the way it is is fine.
I don't see why we need a reset.

Perhaps from now on if a some kind of rule regarding tidiness and making the place look nice were introduced? (Gosh i feel like my mother)

I agree no one wants to see floating remnants of someone's house they just abandoned .

An a border to the world would be nice that way it would be more Rp driven , in other words when someone wants to Rp a event with me i dont have to walk for 20 min to reach them . I dont know if adding it now to the map we have would be an issue but theres a chance you might cut people off from there faction HQ's which seem to be the only buildings people care about so im unsure.

Silver added in a boarder system to prevent people from walking 10000000 blocks into the wilderness since that is very taxing on the server itself. I think right now there is a 2000 block radius in each direction from spawn which should be more than enough room to build but not so far as to take hours to walk.

Would resetting the map affect our inventory and/or our iconomy credits?

Yes, it will reset your inventory, it will not reset your iconomy credits however.

I'd be willing to do this If some one provides materials....

Well the fact that everyone is so hugely spread out is a valid issue. The griefing of the large settlements near spawn pushed everyone to opposite ends of the map which makes RP hard. In that regard a wipe would be helpful.

But I put a lot of work into my little corner of the world and don't really want it to be destroyed.

Im gonna have to change my vote to a No.

I believe we should because:

1. Everyone will be closer, thanks to the boundaries mod, which means that we can RP more, and Iconomy will actually have a purpose.
2. Less Lag on the server because of everyone being spread out God knows how far from the spawn...
3. Being closer together, it will be easier for the admins to keep an eye on things.

Sure, we may lose things we put a lot of work into, but its for the best, so we should all try to stop being selfish and think of the server as a whole, rather than "oh no i'll lose MY stuff..."

And if griefing is a concern, there are mods that can remove that issue, or at least reduce the chances of it happening...

I think a lot of people are voting yes for the selfish reason that they believe they've already lost stuff due to the borders and griefers so feel that they everyone should have a fresh start.

Also 1) This is a good thing but perhaps we could try and advertise the server a little? Forum banners perhaps that we can add to our signatures in forums that we know will attract the right kind of people (as opposed to l33t kids).
2) Is lag really that bad now? And its unlikely to get worse with the boundaries in effect?
3) If we all work together united as a server to clean griefers work when we find it then admins job would be made a lot easier and we can tidy up the world we have now.

This reply was meant objectively, not as an ad hominen attack :)

I'm for resetting it I've had a minecraft server and know how important a clean server. A messy server is an instant turn-off for players.

All very good points. however:

1. There really is no escape from 1337 kids, the most we could do would be limit how many join...
2. For those who live in Europe? I don't know, but for those of us who live in the Americas, lag can be troubling...
3. Without admins spawning materials, only admins with world edit can fix griefing damage

Are people doing it because they've lost some of their things? Yes, im sure there are a few, but my concern is more about people who have everything, and refuse to give it up as a result...

Hmm i suppose you're right about the l337 kids, its an inescapable problem.
I didn't even think about how distance can affect performance, sorry that was ignorance on my part!
Admins can spawn materials if they need to? Myself and Paint fixed an unsightly Griefcano today.

If I'm honest if the server map does reset I'm not going to be that fussed, I can rebuild relatively easily.

My only concern is that if the server is to be reset then I'd like it to be done sooner rather than later, the uncertainty is making me apprehensive about building anything new.
