I've been roleplaying as a Sentry Bot for the past week now. >_> Don't know where you guys have been. It's buggy as all hell, but it's a proof of concept.

I mapped a bunch of voice commands to my flight stick. It's so funny to watch wasters piss themselves when I go: "THREAT ANALYSIS: YELLOW. BEGINNING LETHAL FORCE SECURITY OPERATIONS."

Good game bud, I'd like to this type of roleplay be activily put into place.  I can see it already, one of my other characters buying a se- A ARMED BOT...  While he travels around the wastes with him getting free blo- Tool repairs....

It will become rather annoying to constantly see t posed robots everywhere, even if the general idea of an npc looks good on paper.

Well he's not, unless Exile isn't telling me something. This is just leftovers from the really old days of the forum.

Also, if we do have robots, here's how we'd combat the potential silliness of dozens of robots wandering the wastes:
1. Donator status.
2. Auths by admins.
3. Have another player or faction act as their "master." Robots that go rogue don't last long enough to be a lasting character.
4. All of the above.


I've been RPing as a robot for a while like I said. It's actually a lot of fun assuming you get it right. A robot isn't sentient. (A robo-brain might be, but not a Sentry.) They follow their orders and directives. About the most "free will" my own Sentry Bot 'Roger' has is determining whether or not someone is hostile or 'green'.

He even confronted an Enclave soldier who was out alone yesterday. He was at the church, desiring nothing more than to pray for his lost Lieutenant who was rather religious. All the citizens of the town, knowing they'd lose a fight with a well-armored Enclave soldier, instead demanded Roger kill him. Roger, however, after scanning the Enclave soldier for levels of stress, how tense his body is, etc... any signs that he'd be a threat, Roger decided he was cool.

Roger ignored the Enclave soldier and returned to his patrol.

How did that power armour venture go?
(Damage resistance testing, etc)

Not much, would change to crussaria, whatsoever.

I like how Spades thinks it been ages since he first started up. It's adorable.

How he think that he's a veteran of HGN and all.

Silly Spades, even I ain't a veteran.

I got some ideas I was thinking of.


       
  • When you lose stamina make it a slow jogging that will only get stamina back after stopping.
  • Add a brahmin as a vehicle to ride on
  • Have a brahmin to hold stuff like a container
  • Have following npcs (dogs,molerats,brahmin,etc.)
Tell me if these ideas are good.

What we need is a regular jog for shift that doesn'twith use stamina and another button/combo that makes you able to sprint and uses stamina.

As for Brahmin, it be too risky.
As a vehicle it would be kinda useless. And if you must, I could put together a makeshift Brahmin for peopple to use temporarily.

As a container, the items would not save, unless it acted like a Safebox.


I am not sure if it can be done, but I do know Silver won't bother with that idea as it holds no importance.
But it can be made temporarily by an admin, if they are creative. I already have ideas in my head.

As for following NPCs I believe the map needs to be noded correctly for them to work properly. And we have a friendly dog NPC. It sort of works.

I tested out the nodes for the map and surprisingly their are nodes in the map. Maybe we can have npc's walk around populated towns. Or maybe we can implement animals to go by these nodes to just wander the wastes like animals are supposed to.


Again these are just ideas.

Like I said, Silver won't bother as it has no importance. And some people have a tendency to start hunting NPCs just for hopes of loot.

This is why we keep the NPC spawn up to the admin's discretion.

I see, now about that jog idea.


What if after you lose stamina while running it goes to a slow jog. Once you are in that slow jog you eaither regain stamina really slowly or you don't regain stamina at all until you stop jogging.

To be honest I wouldn't like seeing people -always- sprinting across the map. It looks silly. Ruins the immersion of roleplaying. <3

I see what you guys mean it could make it unrealistic, but you can't really stop it unless they make up something like lolsprinting or something like that where you can't sprint randomly unless your in a battle or authorized, but in the other hand you wouldn't really be able to monitor that because your not going to have an admin ban everybody that's uses the sprint button it would be too complicated, but I also agree it does make it unrealistic.

I got a few things that could help.

1. Fix the errors you see when you look at your legs on certain models.
2. Fix issues with zip ties, to make them useful again.
3. Make other items useful, if it was ever planned. Such as Jet, lockpin, cherry bomb, etc...
4. Make some items use models that fit them, so to seperate themselves from others. Laser gun and Plasma. Assualt rifle and chinese...
5. It be nice for some of the maskless armors have a better choice for the defualt head, and perhaps a female version of them.
6. Raider Entities that have a n FRP gun that they don't drop on death.
7. Entities that have their health set lower. Radroaches surviving a few dozen rounds from a shotgun is a bit overkill.
8. Weapon errors and sounds.  I think the flamer spams console errors. And I think the 10mm is missing sounds?
9. Lastly, the models having the abilty to turn on their own. Though that I believe is more difficult than thought.


Just a few thoughts on things that could be ironed out.  Mainly the armor errors.
