It looks like they are using NPCs for the other player.

It's pretty much the only way, since the engine wasn't made for this kind of stuff.

Has anyone actually tested this to an extent they can confirm it's working? Actual Co-op with another player? I've seen "coop" mods before with NPCs. Not fun nor funny.
