Diablo 2 LoD MOD: Median XL

Hello, as an introduction i'd like to say that i've been playing this game on and off for about six years, i was about Nine years old when my dad first showed me the game (Yeah he's a gamer.).

Well, i'll get to the point.

I'm currently redownloading Diablo 2 and i intend to play it again.

However as i've had six years of this game i think i'll get pretty tired of it after doing the first Act.

So, to make things harder i've decided to try out a mod called Median XL, the mod is somewhat big but i'd say it's worth it. The game does not change any maps to my knowledge, but it does change pretty much each and every skill and enemy.

MaCKaN's quick guide to installing and running Median XL:

*WARNING! This WILL cause your already saved characters from the normal Diablo 2 to get ruined, they can't be used. Do this only if you're sure you want to try out the mod, if not i'm not responsible for any harm that could have been done to your saved games!*


1. Install Diablo 2 and the expansion OR download them here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4443984/Diablo_2___Diablo_2__Lord_Of_Destruction

2. Upgrade to 1.13, do that by TRYING to access the battle.net.

3. Download Median XL from a mirror here: http://modsbylaz.hugelaser.com/download.html

4. Find your Diablo 2 folder on your hard disk.

(Optional): Make a backup of said folder.

5. Copy the patch_d2.mqp found in the .zip to your Diablo 2 folder.

6. To get Battle.net up and running you'll need to find a private gateway, for that you'll need this program: (Windows: http://www.d2maniacs.org/misc/BNGatewayEditor.exe) (MAC: http://www.d2maniacs.org/misc/bnetse.dmg) Atleast the Windows one is tested negative to any harmful things by Avast Antivirus.

7. Boot that editor up and press "Add Gateway".

8. Make sure you're at the Diablo tab and not the Star/warcraft one!

9. Enter this information:

Name = D2 Maniacs
Zone = -1
IP = pvpgn.d2maniacs.org (or IP: "87.98.244.191")

9. Highlight D2 Maniacs and press "Set to chosen gateway"

10. Close and start up Diablo 2.

11. Press (No Battlenet)

12. Register an account.

13. When done you'll see the character selection screen, in the upper right corner you see a button saying "Welcome" press that button and choose Median XL.

14. Create a character and play! :D

15. Oh, by the way, you just lost the game. ;)
