probably because it sells. although i have no idea why, as you said theyre really stale in terms of gameplay and offer nothing new to the scene. its basically cod except your movement is tied down to tank controls.
i still dont understand why did obsidian waste their time on this instead of making a decent RPG like they used to
This one does not bring much new to the table, it seems that they just copied everything from World of Tanks.

Red orchestra 2's tank battles were shite and that was quickly realized on release. However RO1's tank battles were fun in my opinion.
