Ive recently taken interest in the awsome game of ArmA 2, and I was wondering who had it.
If those who had it posted it here, we could make some sessions with epic battles and such, as I try every day to improve my skills in the editor.
For those who do not know what ArmA 2 is:
QuoteBuilding on 10 years of constant engine development, ARMA II boasts the most realistic combat environment in the world. It models real world ballistics & round deflection, materials penetration, features a realtime day/night cycle and dynamic wind, weather and environmental effects. The simulation of a combat environment is so effective, the engine forms the basis for training simulators used by real armies the world over.

Although ArmA II is set in the fictional ex-soviet state of 'Chernarus' the gameworld is actually a 225 square kilometer chunk of the real world! ARMA II's highly detailed landscape is a meticulous facsimile of real terrain, modeled using extensive geographical data. This recreated region is brought to life with spectacular environmental effects and populated with dynamic civilian settlements and wildlife. Wild animals roam the atmospheric forests while the people of Chernarus try to live out their lives among the war-torn streets.

The 27th U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit have been deployed to the former soviet country of Chernarus in this third installment in the series of award winning PC war simulators from Bohemia Interactive, creators of Operation Flashpoint*: Cold War Crisis and ArmA: Combat Operations.

Force Reconnaissance Team "Razor" are among the first to fight. This elite five-man team are about to fall down the rabbit hole, trapped in a war not only for control of the country, but the hearts and minds of its people. With the might of the USMC offshore and the Russians anxiously watching from the north, the stakes couldn't be higher. The fate of Chernarus is balanced on a razor's edge...

PLAYER-DRIVEN STORY - Command your troops through a branching campaign full of twists and surprises.
THRILLING REALISM - Explore the 225 square kilometer of highly detailed landscape, modelled using real-world geographical data and master each of 81 weapons and 120+ vehicles.
AUTHENTIC SIMULATION - Game simulates various aspects of combat and evironment effects from bullet ballistics, material penetration, ammunition types and stopping power to weather conditions.
EXTENSIVE MULTIPLAYER - Play the campaign missions in cooperative mode or join duty in the massive multiplayer battles with up to 50 players.
ADVANCED AI - Compete the ultimate next-gen AI: no scripts, no predefined pathways. All units react on actual game situation.
MISSION EDITOR - Design your own missions by the intuitive, easy-to-use mission editor and become part of one of the biggest and most creative PC gaming community ever.

I didn't bother buying Arma 2 because it got mediocre reviews at best. I recall it was quite expensive too.
"Yes, we will be changed and we will march with him, then all the world will have his colour and his light and his madness."

Ace: Howdy-do, Killslim.
Paintcheck: Uh...
Paintcheck: Wrong window

At the moment I'd say its quite cheap,

It's a game that is very hard to get used to. I'm not familiar with walking 3 feet and my headboobing like I was having a seizure. I know it's a simulation and all, but I don't do that when I run. Moving seems really sluggish, not in the way that your carrying over a hundred pounds on your back, but it's like my button presses are delayed. I guess it's a pretty cool game if you're with friend, but not really alone. Btw, the AI sucks major balls at times. Like once, I was on a hill and there was this guy army crawling past me at the foot of the hill. I shot him once, he lived and kept crawling. I ended his misery when I stopped chuckling.

Neccicary bump!
Im having the idea of making a military RP, the possebilities are there.
Think about it, I can make a "Base" in the editor that can work as a sort of passive area, while missions can be made like, Hostage rescue, training and full scale battles.
Ive also found out that Dedicated servers can be made, so lag would be in the less (ArmA 2 lags because of CPU usage, not GPU) if we were allowed to use the dedi for this.
I just need people to support this and buy this game! (or contact me if you already have it)

what tha fuck is Arma ? is it something to eat ?

ArmA is a good game... IF your into simulators, if your a CoD fanboy, you need not bother with it.
I enjoyed it, just had trouble running it on my machine for no apparent reason, and i can run things like crysis on high.
I was looking more forward to OF:2, but it was over rated and to be honest, ArmA2 is the better out of the latest ones.
Its worth the buy, if your no a fan boy.

Sure, I'm up for joining the HGN Arma squad.. they even have RP servers, so awesome..

Is this going to be like the other squads? Lasts for a week and then dies? Not to be negative but thats what happens.

Ill install this tonight, barely runs on my machine tho for some reason.

This game is VERY CPU demanding, as every single part of this game is being generated in real time.
It has to generate AI paths, behaviour and response.
Also loading of materials and models when you get close enough.
To your information: EVEN I LAG D:

you know it costs 10 more in my country then in yours ><

I got the game, yeah.

So, a squad for what?
My profession is flying, air to air combat and / or bombing for combat. (Joystick with correct flight controls all binded)
Got to try out the editor, and work on some targets.
I am also a decent anti-vehicle footsoldier.
I can run the game on a moderate setting, with a few highs, and I experience lag, but it's very minor.

And that's the end of my long, unnecessary list of what im good at whilst playing ARMA..
"Is it just me, or have peoples' hands been growing out of their asses lately?"

I always play rp sometimes on arma2 or did.

I have Arma 2 and ACE II :V Awesome combination..

It seems you (And maybe some others I dont know) have missunderstood, ArmA 2 seems to have a built in "Squad" system, thats the only reason I named this thread "ArmA 2 Squad?".
What I meant was more like a group of people just gather to either roleplay or play scenarios we make.
Just for fun (or maybe get larger after some time, who knows.)

Yeah I like my Created Mission it had 500 Soldiers on Each Team and 20 Tanks And 20 Aircraft's I thought it would Rape my G-Card but it ran nice and smooth my side won as I commanded them to victory with my navigation and sniping skill's

Nice bump...

Cool, now that it's bumped.
I tried the demo of this..
Could barely play, but I should of seen it coming.
Processor: AMD Athlon II x2 215
That is a dual-core 2.7 ghz btw

I'd be willing to play if Afro would put all that effort into RP scenarios and everything.
