New standard of rping?

I am sad to say, i have regretted suggesting the dice system. What i had feared it would turn into has accured.

I stated  several times in its suggestion thread, that if we allowed it to be used in rping fight and such without restrictions it would start killing rp. Allowing people to get past true rping and get themselves out of impossible situations.

Im not saying it a bad thing, but we need to reinforce common sense when using it.

example: Me and another mercinarie wanted to knock out this stalker and tie him up. So we lured him away with the promise of a easy mission for high pay. While him and i were chatting what this mission was, my merc friends walked up to him and smashed the end of the gun into the back of the stalkers head to knock him out. The stalker was completly unawares. But he insisited that he would have a chance of dodging a blow he would never see coming, and using dice to dodge... He ended up getting out of a situation he woulda never been able to using actual rp, by using the dice system...

Thats only one example of many i have experienced, as many of you probably have also, its not bad for dice, but i prepose a new rule where both parties have to agree on using dice, if one disagrees then dice is unusable.

so please make comment, +support and -support, and state your reasons, please dont troll or go off topic

Maybe report him/her.
And well, yeah, sometimes its just stupid.
Like:
/STALKER Is on the ground with his left leg broken.
/SuckerBlood Attempts to claw the STALKER
/Dice
/Dice
/SuckerBlood rolls a 98
/STALKER rolls a 99
/STALKER Stands up and runs away.

Or something like that.
So there should be a rule , like when your in a not possible place to evade an attack (Or whatever) then you can't just /Dice (Or whatever the command is) and evade it. Or run away. Etc.

So, +Support for a rule like that.

I kinda i agree.
Its great when its used right, but can be easily abused.

True, I may use the system a lot to get out of these situations, but nothing to harsh (I usually end up dieing anyway...). But people have been abusing the dice roll, and I wish I never came into this game with the script.

DO WANT AND +Support.

Its gotten to the point where I would be close enough to a person that I could tell the colour of there eyebrows and I'll fire at them with a SHOTGUN (Spread weapon) and I suddenly miss for no apparent reason. Is this the Matrix? Or is this just complete C-c-c-crap, I thank the few that dont need the Dice to accept being hit (Bto and others).

You can dodge an object thrown at you, you can roll on if you trip and fall over or not, you can roll on if a weapon fires as somone is knocked out of the way, you can roll on a gun firing if it hits the ground.

You can not roll on dodging a bullet at the range bigger than an ant, thats just pathetic, the whole point of the Roll system was to STOP powergaming, now its more like Powerdodging from MANN.CO.

Wow, I'm glad you made this +support.

And heres why: EG: Stalker gets, stabbed and shot, finger cut off (etc..)

Then the stalker that's hurt and shot rolls a 99 and shoots the person who's attacking him, killing him..

That's what pisses me off. I hope this passes.

Turns roleplaying into Dungeons and Dragons, dice shouldn't need to decide who wins in a hand to hand fight between a rookie stalker and a bloodsucker.

Ok then, so far  +supports

Like Keyfoot is saying, people seem to get out of impossible situations using the Dice system, and although I usually ask if the other person wants to use Dice, some stalkers just automatically roll dice after they do a "/me tries to grab the man's gun from him" (While the damn thing is pointed at him, and the sling wrapped around my shoulder's.) and it forces me into a situation where I can either listen to him complain about Power Game, or just throw dice and shut him up.

With all these supports, i hope it gets accepted and something is made :D

Everyone keeps saying that /roll prevents powergaming, if you need to use /roll I think that makes you incompetent of RPing without powergaming. With /roll a unarmed stalker that just entered the zone can take out several suckers if he's lucky enough.

Have to agree, People have been going over the line with this. What i do is useally just ignore the person that insists ondice when there is no other way of getting out anyway. but +support anyway.

Hell yeah ! The Dice always runined the RP for me. Dice makes people act like Rambo.

The dice don't suck entirely DarkAngel, infact they create RP. The only downside to the dice is that you can completely powergame and abuse it.

Dice is only good for playing Dice for cash =)

If I was to fight with an extremely decent RPer, Dice would make the combat so much more random and better.

Somtimes people actually use the dice to score Killing Blows to.

The problem with the dice system is that people are powergaming with it and doing the impossible, such as what you said by dodging when a hit comes in from behind.  Moreover dice should have absolutely nothing to do with firearms, if a bullet was shot at you, you can't dodge it from two feet away and it's pretty freaking hard to dodge it from a sizable distance.

On the other hand http://www.forums.hypergamer.net/roleplay-guides/dice-based-roleplay/ .  That's an impressive guide on how dice based RP should be done, but the people that we are most likely referring to abusing the system, probably haven't read it.

Like I said, dice requires SOME roleplay knowledge so then you MIGHT AS WELL roleplay, instead of playing DnD. Dice were for things like gambling, etc, etc, but then SOMEONE started to roleplay with them.

makes sense,

Its because people dont realize that EVERY action would need a roll.

The dice system can work if used right, and not to completely powergame his way out of a situation, combat could be better, because of the need for luck and more, having a gun pointed towards you head in pointblank range, you shouldn't roll to knock the gun away, it just isn't realistic.

I realized it is ridiculous how one of my prey (I was a BS) just ran away by /roll with a goddamn stab wound in his own throat !  And he got hit a few times in his legs, which makes it more ridiculous. And the personal fact is that I ALWAYS have small dice value.
