Title: [Suggestion] Faction Population and Equipment
Post by: mikeywrenn on 26-05-2011
I was looking through faction information, comparing between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Roleplay and the actual S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. Certain factions should have a higher population allowance than others, but sacrifice equipment, as in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
This idea came about whilst I was sat in my exam, finished and bored, so I decided to just throw it out there..

POPULATION ALLOWANCE
Let me begin with my suggestion for the 'faction cap' or population allowance. All of these are in comparison to the current fifteen (15) population allowance.
Population changes:
Freedom- Population allowance increased.
DUTY- Population allowance unchanged.
Military- Population allowance decrease.
Monolith- Population allowance decrease.

Freedom having an increased allowance:
Quote from: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. WikiFreedom is one of the largest stalker clans in the Zone.
Freedom is a faction that relies upon it's mass of members to get a job done, as opposed to use of high-grade equipment and well-trained men. They also have a large role to play within the server, as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s use them and their headquarters as a safe place to relax and passively roleplay. They are also on a 'slacker' training regime than the other three factions.

DUTY remaining the same:
Quote from: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. WikiDuty is a well organized clan, with a strict hierarchy and bureaucracy.
DUTY should have the second-highest amount of members within it, hence leaving it at it's current allowance. They tend to equip their members with higher-graded equipment, than a faction such a Freedom, allowing them to have less men to achieve the same goal. They should not have a decreased population because, alike Freedom, their headquarters tends to be a safe zone/social area for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s.

Military having an decreased allowance:
The Military is a faction that you may come across a lot within the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, although they appear as an event-like faction. What I mean by 'event-like' is a faction that you cannot communicate with, with exception to Call of Pripyat, and are basically set to shoot-on-sight. Since they are not a faction that can openly roleplay with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s within the server, they do not play much of a role in the public sector. Occasionally they will send out a patrol or bring in a helicopter for support, but this usually ends up with the death of every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or other faction member they can find.

Monolith having an decreased allowance:
Within the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and also on the server, Monolith is a faction that you can only come across in certain areas. They are also an event-like faction, as mentioned within the Military paragraph. Their current member count dwindles somewhere below five, with each member being highly-trained and well-equipped. The faction as a whole has no non-hostile roleplay within the public sector, occasionally sending out a patrol or defeating S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s that are stupid enough to head into the underground.

EQUIPMENT ALLOWANCE
Now I say go on to the balancing factor of this topic, the equipment. Some factions may be limited to a certain number of items, such as: Sniper rifles, Exoskeletons and Heavy Weaponry. I'm going to say that the 'base_amount' is: Four Exoskeletons/SEVAs, Three sniper rifles, Two heavy weapons.
Equipment changes:
Freedom- Equipment allowance decreased.
DUTY- Equipment allowance unchanged.
Military- Equipment allowance increase.
Monolith- Equipment allowance increase.

Freedom having an decreased allowance:
Freedom is said to be supplied by NATO, at least hinted towards such, although their supply lines are seen to be quite unreliable. Their weaponry mostly consists light weaponry and small-calibre rifles. Their weapon allowance decrease is to balance out the fairness upon factions in roleplay.

DUTY remaining the same:
Remaining as they are, DUTY would be well-equipped and still have a suitable amount of men. Their weaponry and armor is supplied by them along 'strong' routes. Their munitions are always stocked up at a high level, so that their soldiers will never run dry.

Military having an increased allowance:
Quote from: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. WikiThey are better organized with a lot more firepower
We will want S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s to continue to fear this faction and not approach them during a patrol. This will be achieved by allowing them high-grade weaponry and high-grade armor. The Military, after their hardships, will have stocked up on supplies and created appropriate set-ups for their troops. It is also best that they are seen as a well-trained, well-equipped faction; meaning that they will be feared.
Monolith having an increased allowance:
We will want S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s to continue to fear this faction and not approach them during a patrol or enter the tunnels. This will be achieved by allowing them high-grade weaponry and high-grade armor. Monolith will have their equipment boosted for much-alike the reasons that the Military has; they are to be balanced with their population decrease and also hold up their image.

Edit: Had to change some stuff I'd written wrongly..

No point in it when the max online cap is 6.
So it would all come down to who has the better gun.

That's the point, change that too.

Decrease... Populace... What I don't even...  If anything the faction cap should be increased to atleast somthing under 10. Like 7 or 8 so Major factions can have internal events which more members can partake in.

I don't particularly support decreasing or Increasing a factions population over all.

This isn't bad, my word is nothing compared to the two above though. It does make more sense. But how about we focus on fixing the server before anything else???
