Title: Being unconcious? (Suggestion)

I thought this out for a while today after I mentioned it to some of the folks on Vent and I think I have the full scope of it now.

Death is not too much of a big issue any more, you lose a gun but we all have the RU for that. I think combat and faction wars needs to become a bit more interesting, it's currently far too difficult to capture a prisoner unless he accepts to RP it, so how can we capture that aspect, while keeping things IC and balanced? This is when I pushed the unconscious idea forward. This is how it works in the most common scenario:

You are in combat, you have 2 health after some long fighting you finally make an error in your judgement and get hit, down you go into ragdoll mode and the screen goes black, you hear your heart beat and you can't see anything, looks like you are unconcious! You are completely defenseless, after the first 15 seconds you can give up and die to re spawn and start new life... or... you can cling on to dear life and wake up in about 2 minutes to keep your RP story going. But there is more complication to it than that. Your opponent can either take the opportunity to run away and heal or he can finish you off with a bullet or even better... he can take you captive and throw you in a cell before you wake!

How cool would that be? It actually gives factions a chance to take other faction's member's captive and either bribe them, or make a deal before they release them. It adds a lot more depth to the game being able to do this. I think the even better part is that you can fight in the arena without actually dieing, you also have a slight chance to get your dropped weapon back.

I can't really find a hole in this, it's not particularly forcing a type of gameplay on anyone. You can still die all the same, and you if you go the other direction, you obviously agreed to the terms and risks of being unconcious. I think a lot of people here would like a chance to continue their RP.

Great concept, love it, just one question, how would we prevent noobs from knocking us out then doing something like lifting our rag doll to the top of the map, or if people don't have physgun to move the bodys?

I don't think there is really a foolproof way of stopping trolls from fucking around with ragdolls.

But it's a good idea, nonetheless.

We can kick noobs but the picking up ragdoll to take to cage without the physgun, how would that work out at least?
Its a good idea but we need to think about the stuff needed to make it work.

Maybe make it like last stand from Call of Duty 4, He can see what's happening, but he can't retaliate only kill himself or be captured.

Something like that sounds nice. Like getting knocked out for some rp reason. But your actually knocked out like a ragdoll. Or we could do something like plungers EPIC idea.

An addition to my idea is when you lose all your health your bleeding out, Meaning you ragdoll, but can still see. Any player can then walk up and right click the bleeding person and use a medkit to revive them for now with limited health, or knock them out using Hostel's idea.

I thought of that, but there wouldn't be a risk of being captured. If they knew they were being taken, they would kill themselves and respawn. They have to go to a black screen and only hear their heart beat (so they can't hear people picking them up). Just like being unconcious in real life, they can't know what is happening, or else they would take the action most beneficial to them. In general, it would ruin the entire reason why the feature would exist.

The only thing you can really do for minges and trolls would be to kick/ban them just like if they were abusing anything else like Hat Maker, prop blocking, or DMing. There is simply no bulletproof plan for everything. I think it's worth a try though for it's simplicity and possible usefulness.

Oh yeah, I'm not entirely sure whether players should be able to loot unconcious players. It might give more people incentive to start knocking eachother out to get stuff. That might be a good think in one case because it adds another level of danger to the zone while on the other hand it could get out of control.

I see what you mean, So they can't tell if they are being taken by an ally or enemy. The black screen would need to act like the sniper scope's obscuring the chat box.

It would be interesting, but it may cause problems with the player with his items stolen, and anyone nearby who could have stolen it.

Just like what would happen if you died.

Also, I would like to use this as a roleplay moment, shoot somebody, go up to him, say something dirty and finish him off.

It should be when your health is low, you can go unconscious. Also, you should fall unconscious when you fall a big height rather than just loosing 10hp and running off,

I really love this idea. It helps solve the problem for when I want to capture somebody and type and then they pull a gun out of their butt and shoot the crap out of me.

Also, the effect could be tweaked, ie. when you becomeunconcious, the screen would fade in and fade out, and shake slowly, then you would hear a deep heartbeat sound, and fades

I think instead of dieing sometimes, like being shot in the leg, you pass out, it would enhance rp.
