Title: Reloading Sounds / Weapon sensitivity.
Post by: KillSlim on 20-07-2009
I'm Suggesting that we put some custom reloading sounds for S.t.a.l.k.e.r. weapons. I have found a professional website where truly professional custom-made skins with sounds have been made.
I have downloaded these skins with the sounds (Including reloading and gun-shot sound effects.) and they seem very impressive and realistic.
Here's the website: http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/source-skins.html (http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/source-skins.html)
(I'm not intending to advertise the website just so you know. It's just that this website seems more professional and reliable than FPS banana.)

I think that the type of reloading sound is important for each weapon. What I mean by this is that rather old, frequently used weapons have run-down sounds. Timing is also very important but could be altered to suit animation timing.
The AK-74 which seems to be the bog-standard issue for all major factions would have the M4A1 reloading sounds because it has perfect timing and suits the animations for the AK.

Rare and expensive weapons such as the FN2000 and the ZN-LR300 would have crisp, new sounds which resemble metal and plastic composites. (So it doesn't sound completely metallic.)

FN2000- http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/download-435.html (http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/download-435.html)
(The sounds seem realistic, also maybe the animations could be implemented too.)

ZN-LR300- Sounds used from the 'Galil'. (http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/download-924.html (http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/download-924.html))

Adding some decent and realistic reloading sound effects for all weapons in SRP would be cool; it would certainly add more of an atmosphere to fire-fights.

Onto Weapon sensitivity and durability.
As you should know, weapons of nearly all types are prone to jamming. The bolt-action rifle may be an exception as it can only jam if the wrong caliber is loaded or excessive amounts of obstructive materials (Like dirt, sand, etc.) find their way into the breach.
Anyway. I'm suggesting that if a weapon comes into contact with the floor too often which may encourage dirt and such to enter the weapon, jamming can occur more often. If jamming is implemented the weapon should stop firing, and a message appears on your screen like in Stalker- 'Your weapon has jammed! You need to reload.'
Reloading will eliminate this temporary problem.
I'm also suggesting that cleaning kits should be implemented as an entity and sold by traders for quite a high price. If you have one in your inventory, you have the ability to clean a weapon inside your inventory. So you right click on it, and press 'Clean weapon.' I say it would take around 25 - 35 seconds to clean the weapon. Doing so you cannot equip it. I think that having a clean weapon would be nice for discipline reasons in the Military and Duty. You will often see soldiers in the past or present keeping their weapon clean for reasons of drill and etiquette, otherwise they get pwned by their superiors. Same with boots and such.
Thanks for reading.

I think this idea was pitched in before it's a good idea but having a jamming weapon during a battle would kind of suck. And it would be difficult to save your weapons stats and such so pretty much every time you join your weapons clean again or if you respawn simply.

Sounds could be done easily. But you can just RP your gun jamming. I mean we don't need to put overkill into the script. Especially with some of the up and coming updates :D

I don't think anyone would RP their gun jamming.

You don't think, you know it, no one wants to get a weapon jam and most likely never will do it unless he can get out of the situation unharmed, and still win. Everything would have to be in his favor besides the weapon jam, "Wep0n jamz sux".

Also if its shoot to kill, your out of luck in every way unless he gets a weapon jam also.
