Heavily based off previous guide written by Feerman (CoolFeerman/Feerman2010) for Aceon.

Disclaimer: I am not the best roleplayer, do not treat this guide as me saying such. I am simply telling you, the reader, the standard and expectations of roleplay on Reveris.

Reveris's Chat System:
We use the plugin "HeroChat" for our chat system. This allows us to take advantage of using more than one chat channels, and as such chat is split up into two channels: Global and Local.

1. Global: This is the default channel you are focused on upon joining the server. It broadcasts your message across the entire server, and is an OOC "Out of Character" channel, meaning that it isn't used for roleplay. If you unfocus from this channel, it can be re-focused on be using: /ch g.

2. Local: This is the channel you use to roleplay in, meaning it is IC "In Character". It broadcasts your message to a limited vicinity around you. To speek OOCly, or Out of Character in Local chat, please use double brackets/parenthesis at the both the beginning and end of your statement, e.g. [[dude, are you over here or over here?]] ((dude, are you over here or over here?)). This can be used to convey short, meaningful statements to ask questions/discuss about current roleplay and/or talk about OOC things that aren't important enough for global. To focus on this channel, use the command: /ch l.

Starting Tips:

What is Roleplay?
Roleplay, by definition, is to act out the part of. On Reveris, you are acting out the part of your character. This means you are not playing you, or your account name, you create and speak through (and act through) a unique character special to you. If you don't have any roleplay experience you are still welcome here, but remember that you should always take advice in moderation and make sure to read this entire thread.

Creating your Character
This is an important process. You generally want to make your character someone you'd enjoy playing, while also making it fit to the server's lore (if you need to read up on the server's lore, there is a "Profile and Lore" section. This is important). Your character will be affected by the time, who he/she associates with, and where he/she lives. This can vary from personality, physical features, and clothing. Another thing to take into account is that your character can be different races, listed in this thread (http://www.forums.hypergamer.net/in-character-515/races-of-reveris/). There are different sub-races that go under these base races, especially the Everymen. Remember, take time in creating your character, and try to keep your character "normal", to a point. We do not accept Mary Sues or Gary Stues. If you are unsure what a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is, here (http://www.springhole.net/writing/whatisamarysue.htm) is a page explaining what they are. If you think your character could be a Mary Sue or Gary Stu, here (http://www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm) is a universal Mary Sue/Gary Stu test.

-Thinking of a Name
A name is an important thing to your character. It reflects your race, your home-location, and possibly your personality. We DO NOT accept copyrighted names (e.g. Naruto, Muad'dib, Thrall, Garrosh, Dracula, etc.). If you aren't very creative, or just can't think of a name, you might try a random name generator, like this one (http://www.rinkworks.com/namegen/).

-Skins for Your Character
Your skins must not be copyrighted material. Again, things like Naruto, The Lich King, Assassin's Creed Skins, Mario, etc. are not allowed. We don't expect you to create a skin for your character, if you find yourself wanting something unique, then go for it. We also expect custom skins to be decent. Otherwise, it is completely acceptable to find a skin on the internet.

-Way of Speech
It's important to remember that everyone's way of speech is different, while there's no inherent right or wrong, things like "yo wassup cuzh," or "shit dude, that's some rank stuff", or even "my financial consultant couldn't be bothered to call me on my cell, he's busy," wouldn't make sense. For one, slang ways of speech aren't accepted, and cell phones don't exist. Fairy dust is commonly used to grow certain tropical trees. We exist in a Medieval Fantasy world, so applying words commonly attached to genres such as ours would be encouraged. Another important thing is to use proper grammar. This is important. Proper grammar improves your roleplay a lot, and it looks a lot better. 1337 speech isn't allowed under ANY circumstances.

Example of bad roleplay: "y0 d00d, hav u seen dat knew in. ?"
Example of good roleplay: "Greetings friend, have you happened to see the new inn around here?"

See the difference?

-Magic or Special Abilities?
See this thread. (http://www.forums.hypergamer.net/in-character-515/%28information%29-skill-ability-reference-documents/)

Economy
Economy in Reveris is handled with the iConomy mod. Factions and iConomy work together, so it costs money to start a faction and to claim land. As of now, the currencies are Auders and Auder Minors, Auder Minors being 1/100 of an Auder. Auder Minors are often just called "Minors". A good way to make money is by combining your accounts with other players, doing jobs for others, selling goods (e.g. being a lumberjack or a farmer or a miner), or working as a trader or business runner.
