Having a few thoughts about how to make a small bit of difference to this server WITHOUT mods.

Current Ideas: Character Sheet Update/ D&D Style Stats.

Next idea, make it a rule that dueling is based off of text based fighting not gear wars.

Or just agree that all participants should be armed with a certain set of gear.

I believe the withstanding rule is that all fighting is done IC unless all combatants agree to fight in-game. If you're wondering why anyone would want to PvP rather than RP in an RP server, consider how a large scale battle would look typed out.

Less than exciting, I'd wager.

Kinda ties into the /roll command idea.

As entertaining as combat is in Terraria, it often leads to gear wars and even when it doesn't it removes the roleplay element from combat. Most fights I ever got into in Caphori ended up not being decided on who won the fight and were just silly because neither of the two fighting were actually acting like they would in a roleplayed version. Instead of clashing blades and fighting to the brink of death valiantly we would just hop around trying to get cheap shots on each other, especially whichever one had the gear disadvantage.

Alrighty then. Seeing as we're still Ironing out some bugs, how about a general Question and Answer thread?
Got a good question for us? We'll try to clear up as much as we can, and try not to slip up and reveal certain Ideas, Projects, and Events planned for further on.

Iseyu is -Almost- Live!
Our host takes a few days to register things. We'll be using it until something better comes.

There's a reason I'm using this song. Has nothing to do with the server.

Is Terraria still prevalent enough and  is an Rp setting popular enough to draw an active community?
You cannot rely on a veteran community.

Honestly, I believe that it's still good enough to entice people to play. The bigger issue is advertising ourselves, something that we really didn't do in the past.

any rules on advertising. I was told in the past to let the designated people do it. All they really did was post on popular sites. Didn't really make us stand out much, numbers on paper so to speak.

Yeah, just one: Try not to advertise to the wrong crowds.

I was thinking of creating a youtube channel/video of some of the history and the people of Caphori/Iseyu. We'll see what we can do with that one.

What, you think he's gonna try to break in using hacks or something? Maybe we should rebuild the "Starting Chamber" from... Map 3 I think.

Hard numbers isn't a possibility right now. Needless to say lots of people still play terraria, and a lot of people want to give something new a shot. Roleplay has always been a huge thing, and I do believe we will get a good number of players to all of the servers as long as we present ourselves in a good manner of detail.

I'll make something and send it to you. Won't be for Iseyu since I have no idea what you'd want to have be advertised, but it will at least show off my ability to make something. Also yeah making the starting chamber would be a good idea with the amount of griefers we had previously gotten. Even if it wasn't a lot they did enough damage.

I thought "Kingsfall" pretty much cleared all that up?
Oh well.

Think of "Iseyu" as a Mysterious Island of sorts. It's a place where time has ceased to pass, making it to where if you know how to use the forces around that island, you can pretty much pop in and out of your desired time. For instance, you could be gone for 5 years, and come back a day later in your time, unchanged.

As for the timeline itself, All the former inhabitants had left the Isle after the wars (Unless they stayed, which had to be a pretty rare ordeal), and the lore and history of the isle had been lost to the ages. (Except for the journal of a old man) So, no one (Except a minor few people) on the outside of the island knows anything about it anymore.

Another thing explained by Kingsfall.

The people that were there left after the Noble Wars. Very few people knew how to traverse in between Iseyu and the other Realms, And even fewer had the knowledge to Explain it; Such as Tas's Grandfather. There were a few who stayed behind, I'm sure; But the land had been scorched with the fire of war, and stained with blood. So, the land itself at that point was inhospitable.

We should force VonXeno to write the official Iseyu backstory out. He's good at that writing stuff...
Also I'm here people! We have some ideas already going about events and such to get things rolling along. Bear with us a bit longer and we'll have everything going!

P.S. I've been apparently upgraded to Tech Support so if something glitches or there are problems with the server once it's open to the public one of the mods know and I'll get on it right away.

Did I not just say earlier to ask a moderator for one. If you want a vanity item for your character and give a valid reason a moderator will give you the vanity you ask for.

The timeline in Iseyu is rather stable, but exiting Iseyu can put you in just about any age.

So, it seems that we've hit a medieval era. (on the outside at least)

Is the no magic going to be enforced in Iseyu, because a lot of people are using it and it really isn't that clear. So might want to make it in big print if that becomes a permanent thing, along with an explanation since people are obviously going to ask.

Iseyu, no. Magic is a practiced art.

Ainslef however, is a land that has not seen magic other than illusions and tricks. This map is sort of an opportunity for people to get to know each other through backstories and such, and you can even play out the gaining of your powers there, if it is applicable.

^This. Ainslef is a prequel, and there's a good event planned for the land itself.

You start with base tier items and can ask moderators for vanity items if they fit your character. If you get a promotion there are rewards that come with that, but getting promoted takes time and good roleplay.

I need deathweed for some potions, which requires The Corruption to grow. If the corruption is in a contained area that it can't escape from, would that be considered spreading the corruption?

As long as it is in a contained environment, then no. That's a loophole to that effect.
Need to add Hallow as well, as it can destroy environments such as jungle

This is true. But the reason the server isn't updated is because some of the addons like TShock haven't been updated, so we're kind of stuck in limbo until it's finished. As of right now, it's being worked on, or so the TShock developers say. That's all we've got for now.

Welp, I've tested a 1.2.4.1 server with tshock on my end. It works, but my connection can only handle 2-3 people. I usually try to get people on every now and then.

As for our server, I'm currently trying to upgrade the box. I'm sure it's stuck at 1.2.4.0... However, We're switching hosts & bugs/permissions are still getting ironed out. Trust me, I'm trying to get this back up as soon as possible.

Will the pre-update map be restored at any point?
Just asking, trying to figure out if I should build new houses or not.

Events are always being planned.

I was going to try and recover the old map, but seeing as someone built a giant ship instead, I'm going to have to say no. Feel free to start building.

You know I can just port the thing over, right? As long as I have both the maps.

It's become a CBA thing. Besides, upon review I think the map is gone. Which is unfortunate, I build my camp again :/

Aw man. Lost all my potion things. Oh well. I can rebuild everything fairly easily.

Did everyone rebuild their stuff, or was my house not included back into the map?

I'll try to replace what I can.

However, I will not do certain/Hardmode items. Unless they are outfits.

I can rebuild my place, but the general furniture/items from my old place is what I miss. Not that I can specifically remember everything I had

(Sorry if this is considered off subject)   It seems like nobody goes on the server anymore, I have been on at least twice a day for the last week and have seen nobody.

I pop on every now and then. but due to the lack of activity, I'm not sure what we're gonna do.

But i can honestly say that we need more people.

Okay, I sometimes get on very early in my mornings, when nobody else is on. Now, I'm not a mod, but Von and I have (slightly) discussed an idea for an underground community of lowlifes that we have deemed "The Gutter". We found a lovely location for it and everything. Now say I wanted to help him build it, bit I'm not on when he is, and I can't spawn Items. Can we have a chest out there somewhere for us non-mods, when we need to help build something?  Now I understand the risk of doing this is people building random things without permission, and I admittedly have no counter argument, so if it is too dangerous an idea, I understand.

Sounds pretty dangerous.
Also, there was corruption where the main village lies deep underneath. Sounds Perfect for the Gutter.

I don't think this is off topic, but is anyone hopping on? I'm trapped in spawn right now <.<
