Title: Half Life 2: Episode Two serious roleplay.
Post by: KillSlim on 10-07-2009
Hello.
If you've been keeping up to date with what's going on in this section, you may have noticed that I'm pretty intent on HL2: EP2 serious roleplay being created by HGN.
I feel that this is a fresh, original, new scenario with lots of roles to be taken and lots of RP opportunity. The scenario works which is a very important factor, if it was an unrealistic situation in the Half-Life world it wouldn't work, for example: Half-Life 2: Episode One. The reader can easily explore why it wouldn't work instead of me lecturing you on the subject.

The Roles:
Let's explore the roles which will be taken in HL2: EP2 roleplay.

The Rebels

(In this scenario) Almost all of which are escapees from City 17 and other near-by cities. All of the rebels aren't just your 'Average Joe', many of these escapees had specialized jobs before the Combine's arrival; such as Mechanic, technician, Cook, builder, plumber, electrician, etc; the possibilities are nearly endless.
But of-course, there are these 'Average Joes' with no real experience in any of the specialized fields. Not everyone can be a walking swiss-army knife of knowledge.
Vortigaunts are a part of the resistance too. They can be useful in many specialized areas as seen in HL2 : Ep2.
But, on the bright side, These people can put whatever skills they have into use. If these people go to the firing range at weekends, cook for a family, Fish, sail, drive, whatever, they're still of use and are beneficial.

What do they do and how?

Their title is self-explanatory, but other than resist against the Combine they help others and their own, in terms of food, water, medical, clothing, weaponry, etc.
Rebelling at this point in the HL2 story line isn't just passive, it's not putting up resistance posters or not putting rubbish in the bin. Resisting is a firefight, that's right, guns. Hand to hand combat, sniping, close-quarters, you know the scene. This will put your character through peril, stress and fear. He or she could die out here, and he or she certainly knows it.

The Combine.

We all know who they are, and how they got here. See it? Shoot it, that's how HL goes. This is what HL2: EP2 will be like if nothing is roleplayed properly and seriously, we're all experienced roleplayers so there are no exceptions to the rules. Everything is roleplayed.
Back on topic. There are many fun roles to be taken in the Combine in the scenario of HL2: EP2 RP, like:
Combine Soldier, Combine Elite, Combine Shotgunner, Hunter, Helicopter, Headcrabs (From Combine Shells).

How they role.
Hunters are scouts, they are used as scouts. The Combine wouldn't deploy their forces for no particular reason. Hunters will be used to scout out a target area and report back using whatever communication device they have on-board. If the situation is too hot, the Combine will be deployed at the right location. If the target is mobile, they will deploy where the target will be headed or in the same direction for an ambush.
If something like a vehicle is spotted, the Helicopters are en-rolled and in action.

Antlions and Zombies.
Antlions are like wild Animals. They're not friendly and they're here to stay.
We can see 4 types of Antlions in HL2: Ep2: Antlion soldier, Antlion Worker, Antlion Guardian and the 'Other' Antlion Guardian.
You know their roles. Soldier: Fights. Worker: Works. Guardian: Guards. 'Other': Guards precious stuff.
Zombies: People or Combine who are unfortunate enough to be controlled by a headcrab.
We all know the types of headcrab so I won't blabber on anymore.

'Nuff said.

There's a problem with RP'ing only specific games. HL2 RP doesn't work unless the time period is before Gordon arrives, because after Gordon arrives, all hell breaks loose, people shoot people, repeat for two more games.

nawp.

In case you haven't noticed, in EP2, the Citadel blows to pieces, resistance launches a rocket. I think the Combine would be kind of on the fritz, since the Citadel is the hivemind for all the world's combine forces, not to mention a major manufacturing plant for Striders, Dropships, Gunships, stalkers, and other Combine equipment. Nova Prospekt was also pretty much bum fucked, and that was the main place for Combine Overwatch surgery.

TL;DR, Combine = Pissed off = DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY

In here you're the equivalent of these gun-nuts shooting an RC plane.

SHOT THE RC PLANE WITH BIG GUNS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVms5xxwpEE&feature=related#lq-lq2-hq)

I was rather new when I posted this, and I honestly thought this was the general attitude of feedback given by this community.
This isn't the GVC! Why troll, flame and post useless shit in what should be a serious discussion?
*Sigh.*
My opinion of some of the HGN members has been ... 'polluted'.
I was gonna' post a new idea, but thought- "What's the point? It'll be trolled, flamed and filled with useless shit."
