Hello guys
I am a passionate mapper and also a big fan of the STALKER series. So i've decided to create a replica of the underground laboratory X18 from the original game Shadow of Chernobyl.

Please note that the map is still in a early construction phase and the entire 2nd lower floor is missing. Need some time to finish everything of it :)
After finishing everything i would like to release it for a public beta testing and maybe you guys can use it for something :)
Also if i finished this project i wanna recreate all the areas of the original game of STALKER. I know it is a big project but i like to map because its my hobby :) I hope you liked it so far.
Opti2000 i would recommend you use our content (Textures, sounds and models) for your maps, we have hundreds of models and textures from the STALKER game.

You know, if you want us to use one of your maps, they have to be designed for roleplay and have to be huge. Current maps we have take up entire sections of the game or bigger. Sadly this lab map would only suit being an event map.

Thats not a big deal to integrate X18 in another map but i will not do this. Because i want it like in the original game,
I want the perfect replica in the source engine. I will implement it in my dark valley map. Yes you guys read correctly i am also recreating the dark valley :)

It'd be great if the underground would be integrated into our map though. Would be one of the best places to do events.

Hey guys wazzup dont worry im not dead still working on the map i am nearly finished. Just need to create the big hall where you meet the first time a pseudogiant and the room with the test laboratory.
But i got a question: Is here maybe someone who is experienced in ripping models? Well i mean i got the basics of X18 (Rooms, hallways, Stairs etc) but its so empty. I dont have the appropriate "props" and i dont want use some shit from the HL2 series. Just asking.
I tried to rip things from the original game with 3DXripper and loaded them into blender but well that was my first time using blender haha xD But well nevermind. Hope someone can help me with the models.
EDIT: Also i want to ask what you guys want next as a map?

Downloading through another means would take a lot longer. Just use the SVN and let it sit for an hour or so.
Not like you can't do other stuff in the mean time.

Well not really i bet it would take less time over (for example) mediafire than crappy 10kb slow loading SVN.
If someone just could give me the models from the stalkercontent pack and load it up to mediafire that would be great.

I'm not sure I understand, you think you would download it all faster through media fire?
We only have a full content pack, so you'd download it all in one go, not just models.
Leave your computer on over night and let it download.

nobody's going to upload every model and texture for you and there's no difference whether you download from mediafire or svn. 10kb/s is an issue on your side
My SVN keeps telling me that I'm downloading stuff @ 12kb/s, yet I finish the download in 20 mins. I think it's just SVN lying about download speeds.
Ok now i downloaded the models but i have to say there are not the props im searching for.

Hey guys i got a little problem maybe someone can help me.
Well the problem is that some faces of brushes disappear in a specific angle. And if you look in a different angle they appear again. That happens also if i test run the map. Thats really annoying does anybody know why that happens?
EDIT: Okay i fixed it :) Accidantly made a displacement to a func_detail entity.

guys one question. In Laboratory X-18 were some locked doors. I always wondered what could be behind these doors. (I know the gamemakers put the doors into X-18 for decoration purposes.)
But if you want i can add some special rooms and more labs into X-18 and "unlock" these locked doors from the original game haha :D I got a lot of ideas what i could add more :)
EDIT: I also consider suggestions, ideas and wishes from you guys :) Just tell me what you want and i add it. (But please stay realistic its a old soviet laboratory lol)

Could be abandoned/ruined office rooms. At least a few. Maybe an armory (of course empty) considering that this kind of a complex must have had security guards.

Ingame footage of "Call of Prypjat" map PrypjatI just thought about a prypjat map and realized that it would not take that much time because many buildings are similiar and i would just need to model a small amount of special looking buildings. Also found some ripped building models from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. But the problem is that i want accessible buildings and because of this reason it will take just again some time.

Unfortunately i am encountering serious problems creating a city like prypjat with accessible buildings.
The problem is following: I created 2-3 buildings with floors (around 4-5 floors). But those buildings were too big and had too many brushes and the hammer editor cannot handle this huge amount of brushes. Several problems like T-junction errors occured.
The only solution is to convert the buildings into models (with propper) or just create non-accessible buildings. The consequences are that it will take so much time with propper.
It would be much easier (and not so time consuming) to start with the Yanov station. The Yanov station got less buildings therefore less brushes and better performance. It looks like this:

The Yanov area sounds like a cool map idea if you get onto making that at some point. With the Jupiter station and the opens spaces followed by the Yanov station for S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs Duty and Freedom it gives lots of possiblities, plus could have an event to do with the oasis?

Well ironically they live in the janov station all together. But outside they kill each other.
In SRP, a truce would mean nothing to anyone, and only remove some stk battles that occured.
Duty and Freedom would get boring and probably meld their groups together by accident.

It'd be lovely if you'd add ruined buildings too. Not everything would have survived the anomalies.

Dont worry i will add some destroyed old buildings. I am using the prypjat map of stalker call of prypjat as template and it seems like 70% of the buildings are still in a good shape.

Oh, also remember leaving some space for anomalies and anomaly fields.
Scale the asphalt to 0.25 for both x and y axis on the texture, will look much better, infact you should be doing that with most textures.

Im not sure what exactly the purpose of this building was but it looked like somewhat of a little theatre inside connected to a bigger building with many rooms. Probably some kind of office im not sure. But well it was big and complicated thats sure :P

Holy jolly you're really a talent.
Try to make the stations less cubic and perfectly shaped. Most of them were expanded through use of explosives. And try to make the ceiling higher, we have higher ceiling even in polish metro. Nonetheless the map looks pretty cool. I'd love to see a Reich station.

Light reveals ceiling too much. Does not look natural, try a light_spot and a sprite around the bulb.
I just hope you'll release your maps.

I made this Blastdoor and what do you guys think about it? I mean in the original game there was never a Blastdoor in X16 but i think its pretty cool and fits into the environment.

Blast door works very well although when closing the red light should remain on until closed.

Fixed that.
Now the Warning light stops when the door fully closes.
Honestly, videos don't really bother me too much being creepy and scary, but when that blast door opened with the warning light activated, sent chills down my spine. Looks great...The hallway just added to the creepiness.
Please please relese your map, its been so hard trying to find a map for us to use that works.
