Title: [Video] NCR Vs. Raiders
Post by: Spades_Neil on 11-03-2012
NCR Vs. Raiders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3Nj7hMi_VY#ws)

I'm going to start capturing footage of Fallout roleplay and moments of action within the server to advertize a little bit for ourselves. If you guys have Fraps or a similar recording software, I suggest doing the same.

Expect more in the future. I aim to make a promo video in the future.

You need several types of video's.

General Fallout - People who are looking up fallout videos will see these and in-turn see your other videos.
Script\map feature video, show off everything vaultscripts got!
General roleplay video - for good roleplayers to tune into.
Action video's - cause everyone loves to see it. Done

Most importantly you need to capture fallout and fallout roleplay combined, they should feel immersed into the world and want to be there.

I'll use this as a personal checklist.

I really hope that's a Ranger in Ranger gear and not just one of the officers..

Because you know, NCR has standard issue.. and you don't just keep your gear in it.

He's also the *only* guy who has the armor. The story is he's a ranger defector.

This actiony footage is probably not was FORP needs, or any RP at that matter. It gives people too high of expectations of action, when really being a regular wastelander sucks, unless you count Wastelander who have been playing for weeks and weeks, but the patience of the average player is LOW. So, on that accord, maybe we should put together a team of people within HGN who can help organize a good film that shows both the passive and the action of FORP. Preferably people who have some good experience with Fraps or Sony Vegas. I have experience in both, but I don't have a lot of liking towards this new attention FORP is getting, as it's starting to derail SRP.

Because making a video about people doing /mes will attract players to the server.

This is just one short clip. There will be more. Some with action, some without. The idea is to catch people's attention with something interesting. It's a matter of marketing, which I'm pretty damn good at.

Don't worry. Future footage is going to contain some roleplay content. Not just action. I was perfectly aware of the possible ramifications of putting up multiple action clips when I uploaded this.

Good pointers to take.

Mind you however we're not derailing SRP. I've played a good while on SRP and know who visits there. The players joining Fallout RP are largely not SRP players. Exceptions are Kropfi and a few of his buddies in Military. Everyone else is either new or returning from old FORP.

I joined your fallout roleplay yesterday, and it really seems like its just about factions. So I won't be playing there.
However to that "We're not derailing srp" last time when FRP got re-launched alot of people came from srp, and after a week or more they returned to srp so that doesn't matter really.

This is constructive critique. I will aim to correct this. Hopefully without giving wasters the impression they are lolwanderer/lolcourier. Any suggestions.

Bingo.

We still maintained a 20+ playerbase for over a month until a certain incident involving a certain Enclave officer performing certain inappropriate acts... but even Exile acknowledge FRP's playerbase was its own.

Yeah, to be honest this is a big problem I've come to see. What I do recommend however is to give new players (wasters) more to do. It really doesn't matter what that doing is, but what I have seen is someone joins the server, walks around the NCR town for some mintues, and then leaves without much passive. Im guessing players need to be more out going or something... but I do hope more passive rp comes along down the road to boost this problem going.

I'll speak to Kropfi about getting jobs and what not for wasters to do. Though there's something called passive roleplaying.

The factions mostly just passive RP. I don't know why no one else seems able to do that. Hang out in the bar. Shoot the shit. Take jobs when they come. It's not very different than SRP.

That's the thing.
New, possibly newbies who are new to whole RP/serious RP "scene", are just going to dl the pack, join, notice how there's nothing for them to do and they leave.
Currently Factions are way too focused on themselves instead of giving away jobs/letting wasters even help them.
And every event i have seen so far have been factions only, wich makes me quite sad.
PassiveRP does not attract newbies/DarkRP players to join and stick to FRP (DarkRP'rs can change, you know?)

You need to make more use of Stationary shots, I think you tracking back and forth isnt quite effective.  Sorry Spades, you tried to be dramatic at the patrol part where you looked to the sun but it didnt quite feel right.  The tracking back with the NCR was fine, the battle however when you panned out turned into a extreme long shot and battles should -Never- be done in a extreme longshot, the best way to do a battle is to bring the camera into either a POV (Point of view) or track with a fighter who might eventually die.  You could also do a stationary shot when a character is getting killed to make things have more effect.
Good try though.

I do good in Media?

Lol, yes, you do. I haven't done any flashy recording in a very long time so I'm not as good as I used to be (assuming I was ever good of course).

Anyone else who has the proper software, record your stuff and upload it. The more airtime the Fallout server gets the more people we should have logging in.

I bought CSS the other day and I got killed. I don't play it anymore.
