Title: Fluffy's Medieval Suggestions
Post by: Fluffy on 10-02-2009
Suggestion Time!

Blacksmiths Guild Idea:
People cannot just buy a item and then the blacksmith makes it pop out of nowhere. Since in Medieval times there were abundant resources, lets say you have to mine for resources. This will up the RP a bit making sure that they have to bring resources and a bit of gold to make this item/weapon. Since blacksmiths cannot import armor or weapons.

The better condition of a resource, the better the weapon. If you dig up some rough metals and give them to the blacksmith, he can probably make you a dull knife or a battered up helmet. Better quality resources means better items.

Resources:
People can dig up resources and sell them, or they can trade them into a blacksmith. This would put everybody on equal ground and get rid of a phony payment system.

Clothes:
You can make armor or clothes and your player-model will show them. i don't mean a full body make-over but actually if you put on a helmet it will only show the helmet.

Playermodel Expressions:
I know this is a seemingly impossible thing, but emotes your character can display where your character expresses this. An animation to be exact... I am nowhere in modeling so i don't know if it can be done. If not we can stick to /me

Inventory Weight Limits:
You cannot exceed the limit in your inventory, you can buy upgrades to inventory (AKA bigger bags) from Blacksmiths. Another thing to add, The less you have in your Inventory, the less you weigh. Making it faster for you to run. If you have more weight on you, you run slower... Adding more emphasis on the heavy armor and junk.

Customizable Items:

Your items, armor, and weapons are able to be upgraded. Say from wood to bronze, bronze to iron, etc... Also some other customizable things including enchantments, or your armor is added on to.

These are just a few things i'm suggesting...

Playermodel expressions I think would be impossible, they are meant for scripted sequences in maps and would require a ton of work for something that can simply be done with a "/me is angry."

The armor (clothing would be difficult) can be done via LUA attachments or if I get enough QC knowledge model attachments, but the former is supposedly laggy and I think the Qc attachments would have to coded into the gamemode.

I like the "weight" idea. Being able to carry forty greatswords and five full suits of armor and walk normally is not realistic, carrying all that isn't realistic anyways. I'd like it to be that if I'm WEARING the armor, I move slower then if I'm CARRYING it, ya' know what I mean?
