4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

It's not very good RAM. It's not DDR3 for one and it's slow (800 is slow for ram these days)

If your looking for cheap ram that can play games and such then sure it's fine but theres better stuff out there.

I have 2GB of RAM that is over 2 years old. Anything is an improvement.

Well that's true in some cases. Make sure your motherboard can support the new ram. It's very cheap so go for it although consider other stuff on the market - (Why do a small upgrade when theres probably something alittle more expensive but twice as good?)

OCZ is the best RAM. Fast and fairly affordable.
Regardless; If you need to get a new motherboard, you're better off just getting a new computer to avoid compatibility issues.
Seriously consider your situation before buying new parts.

Patriot isn't bad but there are better brands. I've had good luck with Corsair.

DDR2 800 is not the worst thing out there but it's also definitely on its way out. Probably not worth it unless you already have room in your computer for it but I would probably just save up and build something newer.

Corsair is probably the best out there, atleast in my opinion.
