Economy?

So in my old server, Minetiels, they had a great idea, but made it shallow. They had a minor economy. Every few minutes, you'd get a few rubies/silver coins (which was virtual money. they also changed the currency name). Every time you'd kill a monster or a wolf, you'd get 1 ruby/silver coin. They had a command where you can view a list of items that were able to be bought by rubies/silver coins. Among these items were Cobblestone blocks, Brick blocks, Iron Ingots, and Cakes. 1 cobblestone would cost 0.50 rubies/coins, and it would be extremely easy to stack up on them. You'd just say /buy cobblestone (number) and get as much as you paid for. This system was great, but they removed the shop because most of the items there became much more easily obtainable.

Having a virtual currency and a virtual shop of some sort would be a great idea, but a thing is, we can't have the shop be accessed at all times, we should have a box or something in towns and villages that has a sign that says [Shop] where the shop can be accessed. With this, it forces players to move to towns and they could also interact with other merchants and help them shop.

I will expand upon this idea with taxes and factions.

We have Iconomy in server.

So how does this Iconomy work?

Can you show me how this works?  Cause I have a bunch of merchants it could really help, and it would make buying and selling a lot easier then using gold bars and stuff.

Check the Admins/player commands section.

Yeah, I did, and me and a friend have been trying to use it, but is has been giving us problems.  We can't seem to be able to set up a shop.

Iconomy is installed, but the permissions for regular players aren't installed.  At the moment, only ops and admins can use the commands.  There is also a shop mod installed on the server, that again needs permissions until it can be used.  I would be more than willing to show people how to use each of these mods if we can get the permissions installed.

Why can't we just use gold and Diamond for currency, it makes mining useful.

I agree with this, I see no need to change a system that already works. Using this will make gold and diamond only useful for making crafting objects and I prefer to work in this currency than have the hassle of making an entirely new shop system. Plus I am underneath a set of towers and making a shop would mean everyone who lives in the towers would walk into my shop everytime they went into their home. It happened on my old server and I hated it, but this is just my opinion.

So then... I guess that doesn't work.

Is the shops mod called LocalShops?

I have been fiddling with it on my own for lulz, so I could help people get into it.
