Jack is back, and what I've seen so far.

Hey everybody, everyone's favorite jack-of-all-trades is back for now, glad to see my precious Desertia back, if you don't recognize me, it's probably because you're new to the scene, so I'll introduce myself. I'm Jack Stone, been onboard with Desertia since way back in the Noobphobia days, and in the previous community I was a council member, super admin, and did alot of basic stuff for the old script, minor repairs, lots of item additions, leveling out the economy a bit, but unfortunately we're saddled with an old version of the script. Hopefully StaR will have my status sorted out soon enough and I can get to work. But expect changes soon :P But here are the main problems I've seen so far that need addressing...

I've heard a fair amount of complaints about the economy, I found the best way to get that flowing was some basic public flags allowing for small businesses to be established, and after discussing it with StaR last night, he has already implemented a few, but the main responsibility of keeping the economy from going stagnant falls on you the players. If you want to keep it from sucking, money will have to exchange hands, it doesn't always have to be major, but every little bit helps, remember, you aren't superman, you can't do everything, you'd get tired, you lack the skills, you aren't a one man army. If you have to take on a whole nest of Formians, don't go alone, pick up some friends to share the reward with. Gotta transport valuable goods over dangerous terrain? Pick up some hired guns, got a lot of it? See if you can get a few guys to ICly help carry the load. You've been wounded in an event or something? Don't just think "Lol I only have 50 HP" go to a doctor or medic, RP a wound, medical RPs always yield a good amount of fun. I plan to help out with this once I get my shit in line, I'm thinking of retiring my (in)famous character Jack to a life as the local barfly, so whenever he's around just come in for a mission or a tale of the old days of Desertia (All of which are true and he's been a part of, which makes em more fun to tell).

2. Oh Em Gee, guns aren't dropping. So far I've heard this complaint for the Colt 1911 and Colt Python, and it's because there is a conspiracy, you see, Garry is really a member of the illuminati, and is in fact 3 Jewish dwarves stacked ontop of each other, all hiding in a trenchcoat. All three of the dwarves hate Colt with a passion for making better large-caliber handguns than IMI, so they ensure that Gmod hates anything made by the Colt Arm Company and will not allow it to be dropped. P.S. He also has a weather machine in Alaska that caused Hurricane Katrina.
Nah, it's just a simple error, in the template for Cakescript SENTs there is a line for the classname, if it is a weapon SENT, then this needs to match the SWEP's classname, IE what the lua file is, that way the script knows what weapon the player needs to have in his possession so that they can create that sent when using the the drop command. So basically there's just a typo in the classnames of all the weapons that can't be dropped, simple 15 minute fix. If there's any other weapons affected by this just PM me ad I'll let StaR know when he's on, or PM him directly, I don't know how often he checks though.

3. Gerian is a ghost town. When there's like 18 people on the server this should never happen, with the exception of when events are occurring, events -that are related to you in some way-, I understand if you see a giant explosion it's in human nature to see what it is, but when you see it's an all out war, you wouldn't sit there, watch, and wait to get shot, get the hell out of dodge, warn Gerian that an attack could be coming towards them, if CE is doing a raid, go away, if you get in the way you will end up wounded or the CE is gonna arrest you for interfering. Gerian should be the hub of just about all RP in Des because it's one of the only safe-havens. If you're doing something shady like DS'ing it up, the gas station or somewhere else a bit off the beaten path is ok, but customers, you should be in and out, no loitering around outside or inside, it's a blackmarket, not a 7/11, you don't want to draw attention to it. And you shouldn't be wandering around the desert randomly, especially alone, I've got some plans to fix this, but the desert would eat you alive in a matter of minutes. So if you are not doing an event or mission or some sort of private RP(which should be limited), just hang around town, chat it up with the locals at the bar, there really should be no reason why there shouldn't be a barkeep, it's the only place in town to do something at, it's a limitless source for Passive RP, swap stories, make friends, get drunk and start the -occasional- bar fight and get hauled off to the drunk tank by the local CE, all good fun and RP, no one has to be like OMG RAMBO and constantly  be trying to kill something for RP. You can always antagonize the CE, start a small business, advertise. Just try to keep it somewhat centered, RP really isn't much fun if it consists of 20 people scattered over a giant map in groups of like 1 to 2.

But yeah, I plan to transfer over some RP guides from the old forums, maybe write a few new ones, just try to improve life in general. But if there's any complaints that you think need to be addressed that I didn't cover above just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do, I'm here to help you make your RP experience more enjoyable.
