CD Drive

I have an unusual problem.
When my computer starts up, my CD drive will be detected without any issues, but after 20 minutes or so of it not being used the computer cannot detect the drive anymore.
If I want to use the CD drive for games or movies or whatever, I'll need to turn off my computer, open up the case, and unplug and re-plug the data and power cables, then reboot the computer.
After this it will be detected once again, but will lose detection if not being used.
Any suggestions / solutions?
