How exactly do you guys work? You seem like a pretty BA community, but I don't get it.

What do you mean? You go on the server and have fun and can apply for factions on the forums. You can also chat on the forums and view other projects that are being worked on. I'm not exactly sure what you mean, though.

I understand that. The join and roleplay. But, how do the factions work? Like in game, I'm stuck a loner, can't change my guy at all. I guess... just don't understand the gameplay at all.

OK here are a few tips.

1. Character Development.
2. Make realetionships
3. Get money and equipment.
4. Become maybe a merk?
5. Meet factions and help them
6. Join one of the factions.
7. Cut out 6 if you follow 7 create your own faction.
8. Can also become bandit

You could always save up and buy beasty super computers then host off those. Not that difficult. But okay, what "flags" can be received without donation?

...But it is expensive. A "beastly" super computer for servers would be >$2000 or so. Plus Silver would need beastly internet to go with it to handle all the players so that's like $50/mo on top of the super computer fees. Meanwhile he would need to continue paying for the server we're on now until he could afford the big box. Seeing as we barely pull in enough every month to keep what we already have running, where do you propose we get $2000+ to buy our own server as well as the money required to buy a connection fast enough to handle all the players?

To answer your question, every faction other than mercs and mutants is joinable without a donation, though some, like Experienced and Vet STALKER is very, very, very difficult to get without a donation. All of the factions have their own boards here, check them out if you want to join one.

And I just got my sucker flags recently after donating a few months ago and I must say they are totally worth it. $20 isn't that much to donate.
