After an incident that has been bothering me about diamond swords, tools, and other equipment RP, I would like to get it out of the way, that, from a real point standard, diamonds are not a malleable resource. Diamonds are found as GEMS, not as INGOTS, and therefore you could not have a smith, in real life, make it into a sword, or a blade.


Now, one argument I've heard, put for by Demonizer is that, "Diamonds in Aceon lore are malleable."
(He had never said that before the day the issue was brought up.)

Diamonds, when you hit them with a hammer, either remain solid in most situations, or shatter into pieces upon pieces. Either way you can not craft them into weapons or tools, or armor.

Of course the argument could be brought up that, "This is not real life, it's just a game."

That argument makes you sound like a child, you see. Roleplays mix the realism of real life and the fantasy of a certain game to create a scenario in which you play a role as your character, hence the world "Roleplay." What some people fail to understand is that RPs combine both properties of real life and fantasy.

Diamonds are not malleable.

However, I would like to validate this with everyone else.

Well in real life Silver and Gold are not super strong, yet in Terraria they are stronger than Iron and Copper. Arguing about game mechanics/features that you cannot change or remove is foolish.

Though one thing, since there are many types of armour with different makes from different people, could I say that it is some other type of armour (CP, a mongol IC, gave me my diamond armour and said it was mongol armour) or is it diamond armour still, can't be said otherwise?

Perhaps diamonds in Aceon have different physical properties than that of diamonds on earth.

Sure, Roleplay does combine elements of RL and fantasy. But who's to say what aspects NEED to be implemented in somebody's roleplay? You don't RP using the restroom, a common cold, etc.


If somebody wants to RP as a blacksmith who can mold Diamond, then there's really nothing you can say to judge their opinion on what can be based as reality. They could even RP having a magic forge that has the ability to bend molecules of any element, such as the carbon of Diamond.
