If by "soon" you mean "sometime after a few days". Seriously Port, or someone, tell Exile we need real control over the start and stop of the server.

Lol, dude, no one is going to go tell Exile we need more control over the server.  1.  Because he will kick our asses.  2.  Because we know he will say no, Port has asked him before.
I don't think this is a problem with the server not being turned on.  I think this is more of a crash due to updates and stuff.  But, hey, I could be wrong.

There was a period of time when the server was down for almost more than two weeks, is what did us in.  And the server being down for a day or two at a time here and then doesn't help us bring it back up.

Yes, the server is down, and something is wrong with it, so Port isn't able to update.  I am sure things will be fixed by the end of the night...  Knock on wood.
