The Arrival of Somnius

Many mortals in Caphori may be visited in the near future by a strange figure in Mythril armor, his face obscured by a hood. His voice is a soft whisper, and has a light echo. This being before you is Somnius, the aspect of Dreams, Creativity, and Imagination.


What exactly is Somnius? Well, he's two things. The first thing, the figure you see before you, is his materialization as a humanoid in the mortal plane of existance. Without his hood on, you may recognize him as the great elder Dio, although with grey skin and white hair, but losing no features. Almost exactly mirror-like aside from color. This is because Somnius materialized in a form most pleasing to mortals, which in this case was the vision of Dio. This form can speak, think, and feel, and has powers like that of a god. However, his true instinct is much different.


The second thing, his true essence. Somnius is really an aspect of life. When you dream, you're experiencing Somnius. When you create art or music, you're experiencing Somnius. When you imagine, you're experiencing Somnius. Somnius is an energy force in the cosmos that blends through the human mind in the form of imagination and dreams. Somnius has you think and feel based on his will and power alone. In a way, Somnius is truly a god, but not in the term 'god' you're used to, more in the term as a way of life.


So why is Somnius here? What caused him to materialize? This is the mystery. To have an aspect of life materialize so vividly is only the cause of a sudden event, or future event. The most likely cause is a manner of disrupt in the balance of the universe, such as civil unrest in the elder court of gods, or of the 'three'. The true nature is unknown, and even Somnius himself (The humanoid form) is unaware of why he was brought here.


So what can Somnius do? Where will you see him? Somnius controls dreams in the same way you control what color shirt you want to wear tomorrow. Should he see fit, one night as you sleep, he may bring you into the Dreamworld, which can materialize as one of two things. The first being a familiar place or world. A place near and dear to your heart. The second is his realm, which is a sort of haven resting on a floating island of Meteor. Whichever appears to you is his will alone. (This IC action isn't currently easy for me to do without access to certain mod commands. Only a trial op, after all.)


You may see Somnius on the streets or in public, but not for prolonged periods of time, if he isn't going to you directly. He may even influence you to think it was just an illusion. Some may even make shrines to him. Praise him like a god and a deity. Believe there is a fourth to join the ranks of the three. However these people are misguided, as Somnius' true nature is different from that of the three elders. And this is apparent in his speech and actions.
