I've come to notice the gaping hole of inactivity within the server. I'm not really making a thread in an attempt to force people to abandon their daily lives and restore the playerbase...
But I would like to know, why doesn't anyone/everyone get on as often?
What I would like to ultimately see answered is, what in Caphori changed until it was no longer fun?
Server's Up!
Well, I would gladly join in and roleplay. Unfortunately I am still waiting for my application to be accepted.
I really am sorry about being inactive for so long. I'd post something on vacation leaving thing, but honestly I could be back in a month to a couple hours so I have no idea. Its just been a very hectic time for me. I'm sure after I get settled into the crazy I'll be online much more. Also if I was to get on now it would be more like I'd be on for 1/4 of the time and the rest I would be doing other stuff.
Who knows. The main reason I don't go on, is because nobody else is on. I check at least twice every day, go on. So far I haven't run into anyone. I see no reason. Maybe they just lost faith in the server.

Sorry, but the mods who usually tend to applications seem to be busy with life.

That I can understand, but no one posts in the forums, or has recently expressed displeasure of the server.
I'm the same as Noidness on this one.
Well, there's a domino effect, that's a given.
But what was the gentle breeze that pushed the first one down?
Mods removing build perms unless one is online kinda ruined the ability for somebody to play on their own while waiting for people. So that could be one problem.
And Kami is the only one who can/does approve Apps, and she's been M.I.A. So our new players are stuck in Limbo.
I will go on the server right now and rp if anyone wants to go on?

Didn't notice the backlog of applications, I'll go through them now.

^thats my reason
Sure, let's just leave build protect off, and let the server get griefed for the 50th time.
There are other methods we can try. Like letting trusted players have access to anti-build commands.
I don't think Tshock bends that way.
Moderators can give select players special powers. When I became a mod, I worked under a specifically registered account designed for moderation. I also didn't login with my character name. These could be implemented for trusted players. Ex. Nathine's account could be /login Life-Brew 123

I like that idea. a lot.
hmm. Not nessecarily a mod, but still helpful and trusted.
Exactly. But now our main problem is will it actually be implemented? One of Caphori's biggest problems is promising features and actions that are never taken. Such as server rollbacks, player logs, etc.
The locked building method will work if the administration team is active. - and that's what we're aiming for. Just PM me if you want it to be unlocked for a bit if there is no one about to do it.
However, is it possible to add a new servergroup below admin, as stated above, called trusted? The only permission added is that of building, which would be restircted from normal players.
I think terraria only supports the ability to allow commands. So trusted players would be allowed to activate /antibuild

It would be good if trusted players could use anti build command. Basically the server would be protected and then trusted players can turn it off when they're on the server and turn it on when they leave if no one else on server can do it. This means that griefers can't destroy the map at 4:30 in the morning when no one is there to stop them.
Trusted players are possible within the confines of T-Shock and I see no reason why not to do this seeing as people are away, whenever I'm online on steam or in game just ask me to make you a trusted account, I'll say yes or no then all I'll just add you to the trusted group.

It sounds as if we're trying to fix the problem caused by the registered group by adding ANOTHER privileged group of players.
It's like trying to fix illiteracy by gouging out someones eyes.
added group trustedplayers.
current people are Khyris.
INA7HAN,Crow,Noid, and Minion. Pm me with wanted login details, or your current login if you have one.
Seems like a gateway for elitism.

Trusted players hold no authority and their only power is to turn on antibuild when no one is online and turn it off when people come online, all we are doing is sharing out a mod responsibility to trusted members of the community because it is pretty much impossible for us to be on 24/7.
I'm not a fan of this, as it would make it look like they're better than the normal player. {Gentlemen Protocol}
Rest assured Maxi, they're not better than anyone. they're just trusted. Which means, if any trusted player says that they are better than normal players, they'll have this trust revoked.

My name is ThY and yours isn't. This means im better than you and you should follow my orders.
This logic works on everything if the person is ignorant.

you think it takes authority to be elitist?

That's not what I said. At all.
You should probably get off of Caphori's dick now.

This all seems great and all, but griefers will find a way... they always do.

True. and that is why we're doing this for trusted players.
it's not like we're giving them access to /kick and /ban.
I approve of this idea. I'm brand new to the community yeah, so I s'pose take that with a grain of salt, but having been on the server with a mod for a little while, then be unable to mine or any such thing after he's gone, I'd like to see the 'trusted' players able to keep things going. It would also help with activity, I should think, yeah? Especially for those of us that play at odd hours/are from non-standard time zones.
