Self Explanitory rules that will change as content is posted;

1) Only shit that is accessable to you legally as a citizen.
2) Weights, long duration/preservation should be kept in mind.
3) Only shit availible to you as a citizen!

Some tips to posting:

1) Think about the most common locally used ammunition when thinking of your firearm of choise.
2) Consider the lack of stopping power needed to 'kill' a zombie. Note: this is assuming Zombie Survival Guide, average run of the mill zombies. Scramble their brains and they die.

3) Think about how fast you'de be able to obtain this. Say, something happens in a few months, would you be able to scramble together your kit before then? No extra-long term kits/setups are encouraged.

4) When picking a firearm, think about these CRUCIAL stats;

    a) Ammunition Capacity. You will more then likely be trembling/scared shitless,
minimize reloads required i.e 1911 would not be a prime candidate without a valid
         reason.

    b) Ammunition Size/Weight/Amount. The more ammo you can carry, the better, so
picking a light weight ammunition with enough stopping power to fuck a zombie's
brain up is crucial. If you feel the need for more stopping power, keep in mind the
over all weight will be higher then that of something smaller.

    c) Weapon Weight/Manuverability. Don't pick a weapon that is really heavy, really
long and un-wieldy. Also, Striek-front/Bayonets are your friend. Keep these in mind

    d) Durability. Your not going to have much time for weapon maintanence/cleaning,
and your gonna be in some pretty nasty situations/enviroments more then likely,
so don't pull up something that's known to jam/be sensative. Also, think about
WHERE you live, and where you may go. Having gear that suits the enviroment
         might benefit you.

d-2) Situational weapons are good aswell the Henry Survival Rifle is .22lr, very light
weight, stores all in it's stock, and FLOATS, not to mention shoots when wet. If
you live near water or marsh or something, having something wet resistant helps.
Note; this is just an example of a situational weapon.

Currently I have;
---------------------------------------------

Forget how many AK mags I can fit in it, but it's quiet an amount.
Respirator and ballistic grade goggles (To keep blood from entering my mouth/eyes, plan on opting out for a full face mask)
2mil volt flashlight
Decent Backpack (looking to upgrade)
RIS rails for ghetto mounting shit.
First Aid Kit (on me at all times)
Matches
Vodka (fuck yeah, fire spitting seems helpful)

---------------------------------------------

Currently Optaining:

Primary

an SKS with an ultralight furniture replacement kit. SKS for it's durability and a lightweight set up to reduce weight and increase manuverability (of the weapon)

Havn't decided on what else to get, other then ammo, mags, and clips.

Might get a bullpup kit for it, but I heard those can be a bit nasty, although fairly cheap (110 dollars)

Sidearm:

Not Decided

Backpack:

Water purification tablets

Survival Multitool

Inb4 flaming.

Can I use your template if I make one?

Armor:

Kevlar Vest

MICH TC-2000 Combat Helmet (To protect you from those nasty teeth!)

ACU for storage.

Primary:

XM8

-Highly customizable (As shown above)
-Rugged/Durable (The materials used to build the XM8 are almost entirely composites — with the notable exception of the cold hammer forged steel barrel.. It is reported to be capable of firing 15,000 rounds without cleaning or lubrication and up to 20,000 rounds before barrel replacement.)
-5.56x45mm NATO Ammunition
-This IS legal in my state, you need background checks and stuff, but it's fine.

Sidearm:

Smith & Wesson Model 59 (If I could find one)

-14 round magazine
-9mm caliber (Common and powerful)
-1.84 pounds/0.840 kg

Backpack:

Probably an Army Rucksack like this, or:

The Big Bear 5000

I own this pack, and it holds a lot of shit. It's also lightweight when empty.

Inside: First aid kits, maybe two or three.
Iodine Tablets
Leatherman Multi-Tool (Kick model, probably)
A small Maglite
A pack or two of AA batteries
Spare Ammo/Non-essential supplies
Crank-Powered lantern
Matches
Fire Paste
A book. (Catch-22 maybe.)

Go right ahead.

also, you can get an XM8 within the course of a year? Thought that shit took way longer to obtain. 5.56 might be a better choise as oposed to my 7.62, as it's a more common civilian long arm ammo where you live. Aruond here I can see mostly 12 gauge and 9mm ammo as the most common.

Also, I doubt you'll be fighting any zombies with bullets, and i'm not entirely sure how well Kevlar would hold up against finger nails and general zombie shit as opposed to something more light weight.

That's why I got a carrier plate. It's Molle, it's like a normal tac vest, but it's got slots I can insert kevlar plates, or anything else. I'de probably go with a dense plastic of some sort on the front.

Also, looking into arm guard gear currently.

Keep in mind, if some one loots something from your kit, then your helping some one out, versus them stealing your idea. Don't start any little arguments because some one picked the same backpack as you.

A semi automatic weapon would suit the situation more.
People would get too excited with an automatic weapon.

Truth, although sometimes FA is needed.

Also, i'de worry more about the extremeties/neck then the chest. Zombies generally swipe, which means they'll hit the outer edges of your profile. Also, the back.

Heres the kit I took the time to put together for this. The links will show the pictures of each item. The links are also safe, if you dont trust them then you can just as easily google the items.

Armor: Eagle Eye - 503 Military Grade < http://www.eagleeyebodyarmor.com/usa/products/EnGarde_504_kl.jpg >

-Allows a high range of movement with a Class 3-A protection. (3-A is equivalent to the Interceptor Kevlar currently issued to all US Military personnel/) Weight of the Class 3-A is a very mild 8.8lbs, enough to stop any zombie swipes. Includes a side-back-side full neck protector with frontal chest storage pouches.

Head Protection: ACH (Advanced Combat Helmet) < http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/ach.htm > (Ghetto version will sort of mimic this minus the plate covering the mount, instead using a paintball mask face guard) < http://strico.net/images/cm130.jpg >

-Will be Home modified to current prototype CM130 Helmet style which will offer full protection to the back and sides of the head, in turn overlapping the neck guard of the 503 armor. Still allowing a high range of movement and ability to quickly pull a gas mask on/off in case of unbearably rancid or hazardous environments during survival.

Combat Harness: V746 Operational vest

-Light and easy to maintain. Offers quick release clips in the event of it ever being latched on to by those grasping hordes. Comes with lower back protection

Hydration Unit: Camelbak 'Stealth', military grade water carrier unit.  < http://www.camelbak.com.au/secureshop/product.php?ProductID=96&cat_id=35 >

-Hose is located on the front of the straps to take a quick sip and continue without the need to hassle our canteens. Fills in a matter of seconds at any source of water. 2.1 lt.

Primary: Magpul Masada (ACR)

-[Before I hear anything about CoDMW2 and the ACR just dont start on it. I know my weapons.] A weapon system that can mimic anything it desires. Light plastic and easily maintained. Reliable functions and rails. Standard bear is a 5.56 which is equivalent to the .223 Rem rifle rounds which will be in abundance in most areas if you dare venture to get them.

If this cannot be obtained I would stick to a civilian model M4 carbine (as much as I hate the thing) and replace the firing mechanism for Auto/Single fire capabilities. [Yes I have the tools, before I get any concerns on this.]

Secondary: Sig P229

-A very light, very reliable pistol that stands its ground against the Beretta 92F. It's risk of jamming is lower and it carries a fairly good size mag at anywhere between 12-20 rounds depending on the ammo you wish to feed through. Ammo types include: .40 S&W, .357, and 9mm. I would personally take the system sporting a under mount rail system to attach a spare flashlight, rather than filling up a hand you might need by carrying one separately.

Backpack: PHENIX GEAR CFP-90 GI Patrol Pack (Happy I own one. saves me $70.) http://www.rangerjoes.com/phenix-gear-bagpack-cfp-style-with-patrol-pack-pi-3757.html

-6590 cubic inches of space, Frontal quick release straps, kidney padding, All weather proof. Stuff it with food, ammo, a very small change of clothes just in case, and your good to go. It can carry a lot and if your use to roughing it with something of this nature then you'll be perfectly fine.

Small Equipment: Things that may be needed at any point.

-Matches
-Flint
-Durable Gloves
-Tight clothing (underarmor for insulation in cold temps or cooling off in the heat will do fine)
-A colored tarp or 2
-1 or 2 cans of spray paint (Risky flamethrower, marker, explosive, use your imaginations here lol)
-Entrenching tool (Axe/Shovel type. try to get a Military grade if possible)
-Non-Perishable food
-Rope and/or High-Grade wire
-Small guide detailing edible plants
-A small water purifier to be safe
-Spare weapon clips
-Large blade knife
-Short blade knife
-Foldable Wire/Bolt cutters
-Batteries
-A few high powered flashlights
- 4 laser pointers (3 for spares) w/ batteries to use as signals.
-First aid kit
-Gasmask (you never know)
Unaffiliated: Mikhal 'Sabre' Tokerov -:- Alive
Ex-Military/Spetsnaz: Andrei 'War' Mirkov -:- Alive
Military Observer: Victor Tokerov -:- Alive
Unaffiliated: 'Siege' -:- Deceased
Leoyid 'Rat Tail' Olinsky -:- Alive
The Tar Man -:- No Data

I would just get some leather if I were to have armor. Working on my full kit in a bit.

*coughs* I'm not even gonna touch that.

Honestly, the kevlar is a bit out there. I doubt your gonna be able to buy all that crap within a month or so's time, not to mention the magpull. It can mimic a bunch of weapon systems, but you'de have to carry all the shit with you, find a place to change it, etc.

Also, wearing a layer of kevlar, with a vest, with your clothing is like 4 layers, and your gonna get really sweaty, really quickly.

- Remington 12 Gauge
- Backpack (Regular School Bag)
- Baseball Bat
- Fuckload of 12 Gauge shells.
- Hoodie (One with the pockets zipping up.)
- Dickies Brand Pants (Fuck load of Pockets on legs.)
- Ipod (Because we all love listing to zombies moan.)
- Food
- Water
- Lighter
- Smokes
- Weed
- Pipe (Smoking Utensil)
- 40 Oz of good ol' Wisers Whiskey.

I can get that all in the my house, give me ten minutes and I'm ready for this shit.

My plan would be.

- Barricade my house
- Head the mall two blocks away (Meet up with people, take extra food and a flashlight.
- Head to the Whole Sale Sports (Weapons / Ammo )
- Head back to my house ( With the people who survived.)
- Flee from house after a few days
- Find a good roof top
- Stay on the roof
- Wait it out

Paintcheck

Clearly lots of people have never read the ZDS and are packing all sorts of useless shit.

Long arm: Ruger 10/22. Why? Because 22 LR is everywhere and 10/22s are uber common making spare parts, mags, etc easy to find. Since you need to shoot a zombie in the head there's no reason to take anything larger than a .22, the ammo will just weigh you down.

Secondary: Glock 17. High mag capacity, ultra reliable, 9mm ammo is everywhere and spare parts are readily available from 99% of the Police Departments in the country.  Possibly with an underbarrel light.

Melee: Crowbar. Bashes zombies faces in and can be used to pry things open, break stuff, and other useful functions for barricading buildings.

Probably would wear BDU bottoms since they have a fuck ton of pockets and are easy to come by. Some good hiking boots and probably my camping pack with other clothes, camel back (has a pouch for it) and everything else I could need.

No sense in bringing kevlar like half of you are because you're not getting shot at you're getting clawed and chewed on. Bullet proof vests are heavy, you won't want to hump that everywhere since it doesn't provide much protection against bites (since most vests don't cover your neck/arms which are probably the 2 most likely places you'd be bitten anyway).

Might throw in some Alcohol or weed as well, not for personal use but because in the apocalypse that shit will be like GOLD if you need to barter with someone. Would be a really stupid idea to get drunk/stoned in the middle of the apocalypse.

I was thinking 10/22 but the Henry Survival Rifle woul be relevent seeing as how I live on a peninsula. Ocean evrywhere, on top of swamp an lakes.

Yeah, pretty sure the cops here use glocks too PK.

Also, 5.56 wouldn't be too bad eather since it's just zombies.
