Personality Summary

Terra was practically born and bred for her line of work. With a naturally cheery demeanor and a compassionate personality, Terra is known to be the outgoing socialite around town. She cares deeply about people she loves, and even about those that she doesn't: her brushes with danger and mortality have made her realize that everyone is mortal, and that making Desertia a better place can be achieved with just a compliment and an endearing smile.

Do not believe that Terra is a preppy, whimsical, vulnerable person with the pretty face, however: beneath her compassionate veil is a capable fighter and an enduring survivalist that seemingly thrives in danger. When prompted and able, Terra is a woman capable of defeating any obstacle in her path, whether it concerns business, her personal life, or the lives of others.
-----
Skills and Attributes:

-Business and Financially Savvy
-Competent with Small Arms
-Moderate knowledge of weapons, but an expert at weapon maintenance.
-Expert with electronics and lockpicking (Taught during her young, ruffian years)
-Charismatic when needed, able to pull off a speech, even if not completely willing.
-Can play the Piano.
-Amateur gearhead with a simple grasp of automotive mechanics (but a good mechanic when it comes to repairing M30's).
-Can pilot small, passenger ships. She has also navigated and visited most of the planets along major supply highways.
-----
Combat Information:

Threat Assessment: Low-Moderate.
Reasons: Competent, occasionally superb fighter, Terra's dominate pacifist demeanor lowers the possibility of becoming a threat.
Training/Experience: Mostly trained through her experience when she was younger, and some dangerous activities she volunteers to partake in on Desertia.
Favored Enemy: Unknown
Favored Weapons:
Quote-Desert Eagle. Packs a serious punch and has a certain finesse about it that is appealing to her. While rather big and bulky for constant carry, she keeps one under her desk in her store just in case.
-SVI Infinity. Performance and Style? That's something that most weapons lack, which is what makes the Infinity so valued. The price point doesn't matter too much either.
-HK416. Being one of the most dependable weapons ever handled, its capability for being modded, ease of use, ease of maintenance, and tried-and-true design makes it one of the most valued weapons in her store.

Biography:

Quote***Things for Terra Heinz started off very well: the family of three was successful in wealth, power, and social class from her parents' established trading business, importing primary staples as well as imported luxuries and artifacts. Born on Europa, a tundra-covered moon colonized by the mining operations for the moon's mineral-rich mantle, Terra's social class elevated her status in the mining community, but her sense of wanting and adventure often left her running about the unruly and unsafe urban districts. From her adventures, she picked up a survival sense and the harsh realization that the world was not forgiving, her brushes with punishment and death teaching her that lesson, but also honing her skills for evasion and self-defense while picking up friends and allies along the way.
***November 9th: the day that marked the first armed uprising of the miners on Europa after peaceful negotiations for better pay and safer equipment had failed; she was a beautiful young girl of 16 years of age by then, oblivious to the terror that was about to awaken. Security forces were crushed under the relentless and unexpected attack, the lower class destroying the upper class with relentless and unceasing anger. Terra was watching the ensuing chaos as it unfolded, unknowing that her parents were some of the first victims of the bloody armed riots. Close Endeavors was called to suppress the miner uprising, using "necessary force"; Terra, realizing how furious and unceasing the miners had created, sought shelter among the survivors as C.E. landed the first transports on the surface. Terra, now an orphan from a middle-class trading family, was given a low priority for Civilian Evacuation; the rich and the powerful were evacuated first. The rush to get off the planet threw the remaining population into anarchy, masses of people pushing and shoving their way to a ship. Terra, caught in the chaos and confusion, was knocked unconscious during the evacuations.
***She re awoke with the world as a giant blur, the echoes of gunfire surrounded her, bodies littering the streets as they drained blood into the sewers. C.E. soldiers were losing ground against the miners, Terra re awaking on the front lines of the fighting. Yelling C.E. soldiers pointed at her as she crawled away from the advancing miners, their eyes bloodshot, their brutal mining weapons in hand. The commanding officer told his men to leave her, but one made the harrowing decision to save her. The soldier made a dash for her as weapons fire went off all around him. He picked her up off the ground and sprinted back just as the squad was on the retreat. She caught a glimpse of his tag: 1st Lieutenant Winters. C.E. was pulling off the moon: the Miners' had won the day. The transport lifted off just as the Destroyer in orbit followed its orders to destroy the colonies, leaving no one, leaving nothing.
***The first few days of a new life were tough, with crisis nipping at her heels, and fog of uncertainty circling around her. Without any family to contact or to take her in, the C.E. Troops that had rescued her returned to Earth; there she found room and bunk in the C.E. civilians quarters, befriending many in the base, especially Winters. Attempting to settle amongst whom she considered her new family, Terra landed several noncombat jobs within the Provisional branch. Still, her new future did not fix her displaced past, and she knew she couldn't stay with her friends forever: she had to move on. When she had enough money saved up, she departed to continue her family's trading business; she said goodbye to everyone but Winters, who was stationed offplanet once again. For the next 3 years, she cultivated her business, traveling to planets around the galaxy, setting up supply contracts and selling customers the goods they need.
***Chance would have it that a previous acquaintance would appear at her doorstep, cold, scared, and fresh in the scent of sweat and burnt gunpowder. Sofia Sanders, a patient at the Close Endeavors Victims Outreach Center with whom she had befriended in her 4 weeks of employment, was a lost soul with nothing left to tie her to life. Out of the goodness of her heart, Terra took Sofia in, offering her a place to stay and a life to live; in return, Sofia managed to be more capable in income and problem solving. Traveling from planet to planet, the duo became near inseparable, even as trouble and a dark past always found them.
***Taking tips and rumors from several of her fellow traders, she takes the first transport to Desertia, a planet said to have danger to all, but fortune for those who survive. Assumed to expect the unexpected, she plans to adapt as she always has, and meet someone she hasn't seen in years, someone she owes her life to.
-
*** For these few months, business has been good. The dangers of living in Desertia were understated: bandit attacks were bad enough, but the Imperial menace and the occasional Entanglement attack has been wrecking havoc on everyone. The populace has been scared to death, and people are convinced a local militia isn't enough, so high end weapons are in demand. People have been shelling out Mesi for the weapons, and the abundant supply of weapons are being emptied by the cache.
*** Colonel Winters' attempts to strengthen the populace has had an increase of two things she wants: business, and his attention. Working closely with him has given her the excuse to spend some time with her secret crush. While John may be stern, hard nosed, and rock solid, Terra knows that he can be changed, and once he is, they can be together. With her plan in place, time will tell if John will act his part.
*** A rather unexpected turn came in the form of Rexilus Luxon, XEM soldier. At first he was a regular around the shop, but relations and good deeds made them more than just friends. Even though it seems at times like Rex isn't telling her the whole truth, Terra manages to look past it: he doesn't ask for much, so why should she? Taking up a security guard status around her shop during opening time, Rex has managed to prove that he is quite the provider, subduing his well worth of robbers and disgruntled customers. The moment he announced that he loved her was the most exciting moment of her life.
*** A turn for the worst came with a breach in security. A Sector 16 Soldier came in, attempting to rob her shop and acquire her goods; Rex attempted to subdue the soldier, but a fight ensued. Being held hostage, Terra was held at gunpoint between an enraged S16 soldier and an angered XEM soldier. The S16 chose the quicker way out, pulling the trigger, launching a bullet into her head. The S16 was exposed and disposed of afterwards, but Terra was critically wounded: the bullet graced off her skull, but the ensuing concussion and blood loss rendered her unconscious. Rex managed to bandage up the wound, but the mental effects were clear: Terra had lost all short term memory, with some long term memories gone as well. Unable to recognize her own home, Terra escaped out the window of her bedroom, taking with her some of her shop supplies.
(UWN News Report)
*** Terra now resides among the sand, forced to give up her life of wealth and comfort in order to find her way "home". Lost on Desertia with nothing more than her wit, an XV15 suit, and a few guns, she wanders the sands, trying to find her way off the planet. Dazed, confused, and often in fear and pain, she attempts to avoid people she knows, fearing that they will prevent her from getting back home. The world has become strange and dangerous, and now she will either come to her senses, go to the home that no longer exists, or perish like so many before her.
*** A chance encounter with Kain Redwell was the beginning of her revival. After a cup of cocoa, she slipped out before Kain had the opportunity to help. Relaying his information to a "mutual friend", Kain and Sofia set out to find Terra, already en route to her home on Europa. Now an icy colony, wholly reduced to rubble, Terra had begun to remember what had happened, and who she was again. With the helping hands of her rescue party, she got back to her feet, and headed home. Rex, her fiance, was no where to be found. Life returned to normal, but only for a while.
***After the Imperial General Visari Vectrum's attack on Gerian, she was taken captive by the Imperial General and placed in a holding cell, tortured, beated, abused. While inside, she endured terrible suffering at the hands of the Veratic Empire, but slowly began to realize what the enemy was like: advanced, structured, tyrannical, victimized. However, it was never realized until afterwards; at the time, all that mattered was that Life, it seemed, had lost all meaning. When she was finally rescued by local forces, she was in a near-death state, struggling to hold onto life. Even after safely returning home, the next few days were difficult as she drifted in and out of consciousness while fighting off the recollections of her experiences within.
***It has been a week, and Terra has regained enough strength to move and interact with others, but she is still haunted by her past. Things have turned to turmoil as the rest period was interrupted periodically by reports of the newly-uncovered slave industry, a business that was both thriving and spreading. Smaller encampments and settlements spread across Desertia are most often stricken by slavers, but XEM did not begin their campaign to intervene until one of their own camps came under attack. Setting out with a small detachment of CE forces and a small group of Desertian survivalists, they set out to make contact and warn the populace about the slaver threat.
***As expected, the small convoy of two armored humvees and one APC was often under attack by mercenaries, hired by the slavers to eliminate any opposition to their trade. During the second ambush on the convoy, she would take the body armor and the weapon of a fallen CE private; many soon followed, much to the commanding officer's dismay. Expectation, Experience, and Intuition kept Terra alive on the trail, becoming one of the few who would see it through to the end.
***She arrived back in Gerian on February 23rd after a few days of attacks and sketchy informational meetings. Once a weak and frail prisoner of war, Terra had retaken her status as a competent and capable fighter, much to her disliking. She didn't like how things had changed, how the discovery of slavery had shaken life and liberty at their very roots; it was a disturbing feeling to teach the members of a community the dangers of slavers, only to hear about their captivity days later. She attempted to wash it all down with some rest and a good visit to the bar, but things were interrupted by a curious man with a hidden motive. Upon arriving home an hour later, she found that her house was wrecked, searched, and thrown into chaos. Papers littered the floor; wares were scattered about, sometimes gone altogether; some items, both personal and not, were missing: someone had thumbed through her belongings to send a message. It seemed that her work had followed her home; luckily for her, the visitors never returned.
*** After returning from what was supposed to be only a short trip to visit an old friend, Terra and Sofia became stranded in a CE fortress several miles up north. Surrounded by attacking Imperial assault forces, the two were put to work as repair crews for the damaged and decommissioned M30 battle tanks. The days were long and the work was tedious and difficult, but the experiences, the people around them, and the knowledge that they were participating in a good struggle gave a reassuring feeling to her. Memories flashed back from some of Terra's earlier years as nostalgia became commonplace. Sometimes, it seems surprising to her that, if it weren't for one decision, she could be one of the many living and fighting there, or one of the many wounded or dead. Nevertheless, she and her closest friend continued to work until their back-breaking work payed off. With the Imperial grip loosening, Terra returned to Gerian alone with the car she feared was decimated: with Sofia staying behind a brief while longer, the car ride seemed to take much longer.
*** The town didn't seem to notice her leave, making her slightly disheartened but glad to be back home nonetheless. With customers at her door and the occasional outbreak of violence, life seemingly returns to normal. She makes herself a note and some time for a little vacation: maybe it's about time to take some time offplanet.
*** She closed shop for a week, and decided that the town will survive a few days without her. With Sofia in tow, the two left Desertia to visit some of the Core planets. While Sofia's intent was centered around tourism and a brief getaway, Terra's business never left her mind, taking the occasional stop to meet with clients, suppliers, and manufacturers. They were a mainly enjoyable few days.
*** When she returned, a good friend Chip Tolley welcomes them. Rebounding from his bouts of sorrow and sadness for all that he had lost, he attempts to find love again with someone who understands him. Terra worries about how Sofia will approach the whole affair, but she care about Chip enough to give him a chance, a chance she was willing to give until he stopped showing up around town.
*** A surprise came randomly one day with a murder of a CE sergeant, the crime scene inside her house; seeing as they were summarily prohibited from the premise, Terra and Sofia took Clayton Jones up on his offer of hospitality at the Ayers AFB. Only shortly after entering the premise were they approached by Military Police, removed from their car, and arrested. They were forced into custody, the only reason stated was the heinous accusation: "enemy agents, suspected of treason." For the next few days, both women were subjected to one-sided questionings and blind accusations from General Denilus, the officer conducting the investigation. He took a particularly keen interest in Terra's case, noting the peculiarities, drawing hair-brained conclusions, sticking to his baseless accusation. She was held separate from the other inmates, left to suffer isolation with feelings of betrayal from her friends.
*** The trial was a complete and utter sham from the start, especially with a court that was blindly giving to Denilus' every word. As part of the judicial system in such cases, she was restrained and denied her own statement for the courts. Sitting on the bench, she was refused from speaking, moving, or thinking; all she could do was watch as the prosecution tore away at her, her reputation, her history, her everything. She watched as her fellow prosecution members fought for their lives in a court of law, attempting to drive a stake through the cursed accusations with every word they spoke. In the end, they had beaten the odds and the case was thrown out. It was a long car ride home, but she was thankful to have gotten out of there in once piece.
*** With betrayal on her mind, and a recently discharged friend who needs a home, Terra returns to Gerian to see some familiar faces. However, the buried sense of betrayal runs through her heart with every uniformed soldier she sees walk past. Will she come to trust herself and her past? Only time will tell.

Misc. Information:

-Favorite Color: Purple
-Always has her Survival Pack on her. The pack contains a bottle of water, a small blanket and sleeping gear, a pen and scraps of paper, a small first aid kit, a survival light, and a tracking device.
-After a significant event in Sofia and Terra's life, she had invested in tracking devices for both of them: Terra keeps one in her purse or survival pack, Sofia had hers embedded into her leg.
-Has a plush turtle named Freddy. It is the last remnant of her childhood after it was destroyed.
-Travels on business trips about every three weeks on average. Her travels take her to several central planets, usually to renew supply contracts or settle disputes. Despite the modern atmosphere, she feels more free and alive out in the wilderness of Desertia, especially since there's a bit of a social stigma against those from the outer planets.
-She once punched Kell for no logical reason. And it was a strong punch too: made a CE bleed.
-A forerunner in the Desertia Rally Sport Competitions, once making Semi-finals for the planet. She was forced to drop out after she was called away on XEM business. She was dismayed when news that this years' Rally Sport Competitions were canceled due to political turmoil.
-Terra was taught to play the Piano since the age of 9, to the age of 16. During those years, she was once asked to play for a major mayoral event, which she did. It has been years since she has last touched a piano, but she is still able, given the chance.
-[Inside Joke] Terra owns 12 Pairs of Jeans, thanks to so many donations. No more Upskirting for you! :P
-Thanks to her experiences with the automotive workings from her repair experiences with CE tanks, she now has a basic understanding of machines and vehicles, even if it's a little too complex for simple civilian cars.
-[OOC Note] Public opinion and popularity pins Terra as Desertia's closest thing to a celebrity. I thank everyone for their positive input and interesting developments. :D

*Author's Note*
Terra was the woman that I never felt I got right. Created out of the need for Traders and females on Desertia (There was only one at this point in Desertia, and she was so shallow and terribly made that it was really disappointing to see). At first, I was going to make her a tough, rich-blood, witty woman with a gearhead mentality to suit some vehicle usage; I passed on with that, and underwent several other tangents, most of which would get passed onto early versions of Sofia. In the end, I felt that compassion in such a violent planet would create a strong, yet significant contrast, thus making her all the more notable and respected in such a place (I remember an incidence in gm_desertconstruct where Sting was screwing around IC with the guns with two new members, and I gave them refuge in my Trading Post. I remembered how one of them said IC "Thank you ma'am", and how good it felt; that's probably the first good feeling I got out of being nice on Desertia). The final result of the early development turned into a woman who was social, outgoing, and compassionate, but not much else besides a custom (dare I say, "insultingly Whorish") model with a skirt and cleavage; as things went on, I thought that Terra was too open, too shallow, and too revealing (both in attitude and attire), she needed a secret, and so I started contemplating a hidden aspect of her, one that was tough and rugged from a rascal youth, but one that was often victimized (The whole Parents-Dying-in-the-Mining-Revolts thing didn't appear until a few weeks after her creation). As things progressed, you now have before you Terra Heinz as she currently is: a good woman with a tough side and secrets to hide.

Construction of her name:
I wanted a unique name that held some symbolism for the character, so I chose Terra, since she is pretty down to earth, and represents the homeliness that Humanity has since left.
Heinz was more interesting: it was based off of the Heinz Dilemma, something we had talked about briefly in school that same day. I thought, "Might as well", and thought it fit pretty well. It wasn't until later did I realize that it may have had a hidden meaning of the question of morality, especially in things that happen to her, and later of things that she will do. I didn't realize that it was also a brand of Ketchup until Munroe stated it. I remember contemplating other last names, but Heinz always fit justly so, and so it remains to this day.
