With the obvious way to Pripyat and the Power Plant blocked due to the Brain Scorcher, STALKERs began to look for other ways to the center. Ecologist helicopter expeditions revealed a large area of previously unexplored Zone in the northwest. It was a long walk from anywhere previously settled and anomaly fields and huge numbers of mutants made the passage seem like a waste of time when there were easier routes. But after years of trying to reach the Center and being blocked by the Brain Scorcher the possibility of a new route to the Center and the Wishgranter appealed to the Zone's denizens.

The Ecologists were the first to arrive, being able to circumvent most of the dangers with air assets but the remoteness of the site meant that even by air it was hard to resupply, especially for the cash-strapped Ukrainian government. A land supply route had to be found to support the ecologists and to achieve this they flew in experienced Eco-STALKERs and mercenaries to act as rangers and scouts to find a way back to Yantar and other ecologist bases that had better access to supplies.

After several weeks these scouts successfully mapped a route through the perilous passage. Once they arrived back in more familiar territory they spoke of the wonders of this new area and the potential for a new route to the Wishgranter. Intrigued by these rumors and armed with the knowledge of these skilled STALKERs droves of new people began to flood into the new area hoping to strike it rich. Duty, Freedom and the military are all jostling for position to carve out a sphere of influence in this new area. If you can handle the anomalies and the dangerous mutants you can expect plenty of loot and artifacts to be had-if you survive.
