As long as people still treat the wipe as a fresh start (IE your character's backstory before getting onto the server) and not just, "Hey, for some reason all our gear is gone. Lol, we should do EXACTLY WHAT WE DID BEFORE THE WIPE." Because, that ruins the creativity and originality of starting a new!
I'm keeping my character the same just making him again after wipe. Ic reasons i have no gear, I left the zone selling all my stuff before i left. I went gambling and lost all my money so I return to the zone to make money again hopefully, and because my character misses the zone, as the outside life now feels strange to him as he's acustomed to all the fighting and excitement the zone had to offer. He basicaly finds the outside life to be dull

Gear wipe. The barrier to entry right now for a new player is too high because all the old players butt fuck them with the Skats and Exos and 500k rubles. If the old players/factions actually fought each other this problem would probably solve itself but it seems people are incapable of getting into fair fights and only gang up to stomp on bandit groups/newbies. A wipe might help.

Keep paychecks for STALKERs and remove them for factions to prevent Freedom from getting 50000000000000 rubles again.
So how does freedom pay STALKERs for doing jobs?

Have an admin give the faction leader a lump sum for that every few weeks or so. This way a faction cannot paycheck farm and horde rubles/gear and shit on factions that aren't as active (which causes those factions to go more inactive due to them constantly being stomped on) because the factions would get the same amount of money to keep them equal.

Also you could adjust the value given. IE if Duty is having a hard time and Freedom has 15 active players, Freedom's lump sum would be decreased and Duty's increased so Duty could run more missions and get some more outside players.

That's a good idea

Question is what about traders that have been around for a long time and have contacts for high class equipment, Would the traders still have their teirs or is it a wipe of all rosters. Also concerning the eco's what would they lose their paychecks?

Traders is up to IronDiety and the SRP admins.

One idea thats been tossed around is giving Eco's a LARGE lump sum and giving traders 10K to start out with when they get trader.

Sounds like eco is gonna be more active now, and the traders start money is a good idea, but I will miss lions 200k... took me a year of trading...
Now for the traders, I think getting the levels sorted out and maybe give high level traders a starting a higher starting cash. that way they can afford the gear they sell.

Well in theory (should be practice) a trader shouldn't want to buy gear that they personally sell.

I'm fine with the wipe. Server economy seems pretty inflated as it is, even I've noticed as a rookie who joined the server 2 weeks ago that everyone seems to be rich as fuck and that sadly there are also no jobs being handed out.

Otto

Wipe it please, a fresh restart would be very nice.

StickyWicket

Like I said, I think it should be a total restart. No one is left behind.

As in, every trader, ecologist, faction member, and stalker out there will start out as if they had just joined the game.

This is something I don't really agree with.  It's a bit annoying when you've worked on a character for a long ass time only to have its memory wiped or however you wanna put it.

Just to be clear, are you talking about gear or backstory here?

** Everybody wakes up one day and realizes.. What they had done before was all in their minds.. The Zone does mysterious things to Stalkers.. Everybody they had ever met.. The Zone had sent straight into their heads. Were they all crazy? Hell, they all came to a closed off area full of mutants and anomalies.. One can only assume..
"Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?"
"Here, Alex.. Daddy sent us a package.. The soldier told us that it.. might be a while until Daddy's done with his service. Don't worry, you'll see him soon, Alex.."

Traders, the roster will be hacked like a slab of meat when the wipe happens. Those whom have been active and doing their roles will be reaffirmed to the roster. Do not bug Yorty or myself with "I am one of the ones being added back?", or you absolutely will not be. It is something he and I will discuss together. If you are not added back, that simply means you had not done enough, or had been to inactive to cause us to look to you as a potential, though you may reapply if you have not been blacklisted from the Trader flag.

On another note: I agree that faction paychecks need dissolved entirely and in turn, the leader be given a set 'salary' from their  factions main headquarters once a week. This should help control the major faction economic situation and keep them on a near equal field in terms of equipment grades.

If you wipe the server, most players will quit stalker roleplay because they've worked so hard for all their items and now your saying your going to delete it all. People will refrain from joining if this happens. The server is empty already and if you want to do a server wipe your just sending the server to it's destruction. I don't see how this would help the regular active players want to join the server if you wipe there items/chars. They would rather just go on another srp server that isn't HGN and that is more populated and active. Donators who donated their money for rubles would lose there rubles that they bought with rubles. That's pretty fucked up. It's your server, so you should decide if it's worth losing many regular players that usually come on. New players only join because the regular ones are on the server pretty often.

Also, why not just remove the cash and gear from all factioners, traders, and those who have extreme buttloads of cash and reduce everyone to a similar amount of funds or give out quite a bit of jobs on the day of the wipe.

If you're only here for gear and not the roleplay, then leave. We don't want gear hunters. This is a way of weeding people like that out.
Don't buy rubles.
People will still play. People are voting for the wipe.
If you don't want to personally play, you don't have to.

People who have high tier suits want the wipe more than people that don't.

I guess since I got a low tier suit, I should swap votes, right?

Corocan

I'm somewhat against this because a lot of the SRP community will be VERY butthurt to lose everything, personally, I don't care either way making money is easy. I know of at least five people that are going to leave HGN all together if the vote passes.

Then they're all gearhungry and very silly. The more people that leave for the sake of a wipe leaves people who are devoted to HGN who want roleplay more than items. Leaving only means that you weren't right to stay in the first place.

As put correctly by Lent, if you are here simply to get gear and try to win the game, and the wipe is going to make you mad, then theres the door. This is a place to RP and have fun, the wipe opens up new avenues for players to approach under the pure and simple fact that everyone will be on the same level with one another. If you want to win the game, go play the trilogy and knock yourself out.
