I think there should be a random stash generator, or something. So you can scavange more often. Like have them mostly filled with food and vodka, once and while guns and ammo? Would be cool. Instead of people running around having to set up the stashes for other people, while they loose there stuff. And not just quest things.

Impossible.

then maybe have a admin just hide stuff everywhere everytime the server is restarted/crashes?

Locke

Crashes are much to frequent, you probably would lose the items before they save.

keyfoot

i dont know, then something, at least maybe, admins that are using a trader set up stashes that if asked, can give directions/hints to? i would if i was admin/trader... but no one does, i ve asked at leadt 2 dozen people if they had missions needed done, but none so far, cept the first time i joined the srp server

I agree that some sort of stashes would be good for a lot of people, since it's quite hard to get guns and equipment...But, I know for example that we, the TU, try to give players different kinds of missions as often as we can.
It's not always that easy to manage a shop/bar and at the same time, set up a mission for several people, and then give them all a good reward if they complete it.

I can assure you that we will try our best to provide you with as much missions as we can so that everyone, even the most lonely Stalker, will have a chance of getting good equipment and have a great gaming experience.
"I know who I am! I'm a dude playing a dude diquised as another dude!"

The myth says that Radek has two arms, the myth also says that the devil has two arms. Coincidence? I think not.

We are only the TU and so were Only human, unless theres 5 traders on then were terminators.

Maybe what we should do is have designated people to set up stashes? Or the trader have an assistant who sets up jobs for them?

Anyone can do anything, but I'm, guessing the real question is who'll acctually go out and do stuff like that for free? I guess you could set up stashes via RP, but it would'nt work out considering that minute game crashes, that stash is history. But, I wana know if theres a way to create a lua based spawner, or something, that spawns crates and such in random select places, and in those crates are random items, of course rarer and better stuff would be rarer to find in a crate.

* Nevrox wants stashes.

That'd be good in absence of missions. If there aren't any missions, go look for some crap!

Locke

If there aren't any missions, go RP.

Sometimes it's difficu-

Fuck it. You win.

Locke

I win, thread locked.

Jk keep discussing.

Only SAs and above can spawn items these days so that greatly decreases the number of admins who can physically make stashes. Traders in theory could buy stuff in the supply tab and place them somewhere but because Traders have to walk everywhere people would just stalk traders like they do with missions and thereby ruin the point of stashes.

This is how I'm thinking it would be a BIT more reasonable then having a database of random stashes generating random objects at random intervals.

This would require a bit of tweeking obviously but:

1)Some one asks a Trader if they 'Got anything for me" (as in Clear Sky).
2)The Stash Program rolls a random number from 25 x random number for the cost
3)Then a number between 1-4 is randomly chosen, that will be how may items the stash contains

4 optional) The Stash Program will roll a number between 15-100 (it's a percentage) and the percentage will determine how many items the Trader can tell the recipient off the bat.
i.e: rolling a 66 on a 2 item stash will result in 1 item being identified. "I think there is a grenade or 2 in there, the guy couldn't make out the rest. (the guy being whoever sold him the info or what ever)"

4)You do some FUNKY math with the cost to deviate what all you could get for that many rubles.
i.e Stash costed 750 rubles and has 2 items in it, then you might get 2 items worth close to half of that, so the less items, the more potentially it could something good, versus alot of small priced things.

if I knew where this was in the SoC Coding I could just wiff off the formulas and slap em up here for someone els eo Lua'ify until I can make shit myself.

This was all VERy rough, just though it up after reading this thread and the one in the Dev forums, but anyways, feel free to tweakitique[Tweek + ih + teek] (Critique + Tweak)

Thats mind boggling, can you explain that to me like I were a 5 year old? Lol

Forgot to add:

The stashes will be stocked remotely (after the trader get's the money),

And also, the more expensive, the further away from the trader it spawns

It's a good idea, but our lone coder silverknight is swamped with college.

:\ Well I was in garbage the other day, and I kept finding artifacts like fireball just lying around, so what's with that? Some one just put them there? I think it'd be cool if items and stashes could randomly spawn.
