My ideas on this gamemode

Map wise it could:

You can have an urban map with lots of buildings and what not and then have one larger building acting as a hub of sorts where survivors congregate and mingle about. Shopkeepers and traders would hang around here and would send survivors out into the city, braving the zombies, to complete missions. The map would have to be HUGE and dark.

Example of a mission might be:

The hub is running low on medical supplies due to a recent increase in Survivors attempting to go out into the city and scavenge. A group of men and women willing and experienced enough to complete the task is needed. The people are selected and they leave the Hub through its highly improvised, welded steel airlock. They sneak through the city buildings, trying not to gather too much attention for fear of having to waste their extremely rare ammunition. Shadows flicker about and the Survivors near their destination. The city hospital.

The Millitary or National Guard, either or:

One would think that these guys would keep to themselves quite alot, completing their own mission for their own goals. They would have either some sort of millitary base on map or they would be a group that is alot more stranded and use the buildings as bases. I think that they should be pretty hard to get into and should be equal to the survivors, keeping the roleplay fair. No spawning with uber guns or anything for these guys. They would mearly be just a different kind of roleplay.

On gameplay:

Good weapons should be extremely hard to find just like they would be in real life, unless this is going to be set in America...
If the weapons are hard to find then it increases the risk dramatically when venturing out of the hub. Missions could be set up to have certain weapons as the rewards as money is going to be of very little to no use. Trades between people would be in items. "If you want this medpack you will have to give me some ammo". With the rareness of guns, death would remove them, as it would in real life. Just hope you got a buddy around you if you get killed. Much more common than firearms would be Melee weapons. Pipes, wrenches, axe's, knives and others. Seeing as the zombies plan to be 28 days later fast running, weak style, they should be very easy to kill but extremely dangerous. If you are bitten, its game over. You are obviously now infected and become one of the zombies. Possibility later down the track to maybe even have it that there is some sort of injection that can halt infection if caught early. I kinda think that it could possibly be a kind of 28days later crossed over with land of the dead, there is a hub (The city in land of the dead) and survivors head outside its walls to complete mission and do other things.

On factions:

Faction wise one would think that survivors might have certain tendancies to band together for the greater goal of survival. The remnants of the Millitary are spotted here and remnants of the Police force and other emergancy services are common enough. Essentially the possibility is there for any and all faction in real life to be in this. Police, millitary, doctors, carpenters, hardware salesmen, prostitutes, whatever it be they could all be in.

In closing:

This offers some great new ways to roleplay if done correctly but it also offers the possibility for major suckiness, its really just how it is policed and created. Many factions and very interesting, scary and intense gameplay would exist. It would be punishing and unforgiving. You leave the hub and get bitten, shit happens buddy, you know the consequences. Weapons and other supplies are hard to come by and are quite rare. The city is in shambles and to survive you gotta watch your ass and keep your shotgun close.

Enjoy my raving lunacy :) Comments, thoughts please?

I think this is a great idea. We could have the "wasteland" outside that people can go to do some fighting roleplay and get better items at a high risk. When people are too tired, poor or anything else to go adventuring they would have to stay inside the Hub, which is basicly a smaller and darker version of pheonix roleplay, which was pretty fun. The only issue I see is people trying to roleplay in the wasteland and getting type killing by a zombie, the solution I suggest for this is that the survivors all have a general distance radar that shows if there are any zombies within striking distance, and if there isn't they know it's okay to do some small roleplay like:
* wallyroberto pulls out a cigar and lights it while holding his pistol in the other hand

Very excited about this gamemode!

Passive roleplay in the "Wasteland" would be rather hard to allow for it to be fun while not getting infected all the time. A system of some sort would be needed.
