NO CLASSES
That's right. No more picking one of five classes and grinding to death to try to get to the highest level. If you want to be a sword wielding assassin, buy a sword and start sneaking around. You increase your skills in certain areas to tailor your character to your playing style. Now, there are some types of classes. When making a character you have the option to choose an archetype. Doing this will make it easier to do certain things, but there is always a downside. For example, a paladin has some skill bonuses, but must donate half of their earnings to the church.

FREE FOR ALL
No more waiting for assholes to attack you before you can attack them, or waiting for permission. You see something you like, kill the person holding it and take it by force. You can loot anyone you kill. Now, don't get me wrong. If you decide to just run around and kill noobs, you will lose alignment and certain factions will become hostile to you. This means that you can't walk into towns without having the entire guard come after you. You cannot buy things from merchants.

That's just tasteless, it's pretty clear where they just said "Fuck realism", don't worry, it's only another two years of grinding, and constantly being griefed until you get your siege engine. By which time your Kingdom will be gangraped by botting 4channers.

It's pointless trying to argue with me Nails, I've been playing Wurm for the last three years of my life.
So this is the part where the two thread's infinate clash just splits. One went all the way for Fantasy, and the other tries to show a Friendlier approach, and keep off the beaten track of Fantasy.
(By the way, Wurm's been in dev since 2000, your call, it's pretty clear where Darkfall copied Wurm, got sponsorship around 2006, and just kicked it in the balls.)

The game map is claimed by the developers to be approximately the size of the state of Delaware. That's about 4x larger than WoW and it takes 8 hours to walk across the map. Did I mention NO FUCKING LOADING TIMES.
