Can someone tell me where i put game mods so they accually work??

I need help, everymod i look into tells me to put it in the gamedata folder but i dont see one. do i have to make one or does it create one when you put the mod in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. directory? PLEASE HELP

Drop it into the folder it creates one if you don't have 1
