I'm hijacking Kropfi's post to use as the OP for this new, split thread.

Continue your conversations. Civilly, of course.

The "competition" is designed to help FRP for everyone. Not to "win" at Fallout.

This statement demonstrates three things:

You aren't considering the HGN mentality when doing this. (Military Syndrome)
You overestimate your players. (GEAR? WHERE. GEAR!)
You shouldn't be doing this at all. People definitely want to win the game.
Do you remember what happened when the BoS won the game? No one liked it, not even me.

I think it's poorly worded, but today the NCR lost. Miserably, might I add, to the hands of the Enclave. We bombed them, then walked in and shot everyone.

And everyone still had fun. The point of this is intended to recognize people who have been roleplaying well and maintain the serious atmosphere.

Basically I share the same concerns, so don't worry. The moment it starts to backfire we'll pull the plug on such an event. People can't "win" this competition. They can only lose. I won't pick out one faction who did better than the rest, but rather, I'll pick out the one that did most horribly and try to get their act together. In short, the objective just needs to be a little reworded.

What's keeping XYZ from sandbagging to get perks?

My dear Ragolution did you see gear written some-where in the main post? I guess not and it prooves that you are locked on items in the server. Think before posting.

Also i never pointed out how the factions gain loose points so they can't press their attention on point giving activities.

I'm probably gonna clean up this thread a bit soon, so don't be surprised when posts get deleted. I'll leave it up long enough for the message to go through.

Why do you even bother posting?
Just to flame people, pretend you're informed and say things that makes absolutely no sense?

For one thing, I don't play on the server at all. You can go ahead and take that out of context, just like everyone. I do not give a shit about gear but everyone else and thier bloody third cousin thinks gear is the holy grail of how to win the game. Gearwhoring is a symptom of Military Syndrome. SRP has shown that (and yes, SRP correlates to FRP very often.)and I try to help the FRP server. Had I seen spades on Steam at the time I would have told him the exact same thing I posted.
As you probably know, I was an admin on the FRP server and I often try to help Spades manage the server, if only occasionally. Spades knows he makes some really retarded decisions once in a while and when that happens I try to help him fix it.
It doesn't matter if you TELL them or NOT they have a general idea of how to get these 'points' and if you tell him how many points they have at least twice, they will immediately realize how to farm points.

A lot of your posts in this forum rustle my jimmies because they don't address anything worthwhile.

Thank you, Spades for actually addressing my post and I really hope that this event goes well. Keep the idea of Sandbagging in mind, I guess, since you're offering benefits to those who, more or less, do poorly.

Trust me, don't worry about it. The idea is only a rough one right now. If it turns out to be a bad one, you know, we'll stop doing it.

Just do your best not to make such heated posts. I know how frustrated you get sometimes, and I know how easily people (including myself) can all too quickly take it the wrong way. Your points were good though.

BOS didn't really win the game though, they were just the last one standing when Silver decided to buttfuck FO last time. If anything Enclave won the game since the whole BOS PK'd themselves in a fiery explosion and we bombed the FRA out of existence and took their leader prisoner by pretending to be space aliens. Good times, good times.

All that is irrelevant though. Spades is right guys playing the "Let's bury the other factions in bodies" is a sure way to kill a server. It happened when Doomburger did it on SRP with the military, it happened again when Doomburger and Dug did it in SRP with Orion Platoon, it apparently happened on FO when Doomburger did it again on some faction I"m not aware of...damn Doomburger does this a lot apparently.

If the factions don't stay balanced no good will come of it. "balanced" doesn't mean identical numbers since obviously the Enclave should be smaller numerically but there does need to be some parity in combat effectiveness or you're all going to be really bored when Faction A has 20 active members with whatever the best gun in FORP is and Faction B has 3 guys who are barely equipped.

Again.

In my opinion the Enclave should have small troops but much more deadlier, and NCR the opposite.

Then where does that leave the BoS? The middleground?

I think we should stop shoving stuff like "YOUR FACTION IS WEAK LIKE TINY BABIES" and just give the Enclave better armor or just make thier armor/weapons physically BETTER by FAR. Also training.

This. As long as the faction isn't filled with powerhungry warmongering win-the-game fucktards, making them overpowered is not only a good idea, it is necessary.

My guys raped NCR in battle mostly because I have such experience with lasers. Hell, RammaChan probably still remembers how good of a shot I was with the AEP7. I could pop a guy from across GM_Atomic with that thing.

Anyway I'm gonna split the topic now because it's getting too cluttered here. Consider this a discussion thread once split.

Here's how things currently are:
- NCR is most active faction and most populated. This is entirely intentional.
- The Brotherhood is a little less active than I'd like, which is in part my fault, but also because Brotherhood is an isolationist type of faction canonly. I may have to make some changes, and suggestions are appreciated.
- Enclave is puny and dies a lot. This isn't intentional. I admit, it's hard to maintain the faction considering that its leader, Rebel, is SA of SRP so it's an understandable pain in the ass to keep track of Enclave. I don't blame him, I just think he needs to find an active co-leader.

What the plans are:
- NCR has gained a bad rep for being derpy and unserious. Much to my pleasant surprise, a few days ago Kropfi decided without us asking he's sick and tired of the bullshit. He's begun a renovation project to fix his sea of officers, kick out retard members, and make the NCR what they are supposed to be: A large but lightly equipped military force. Quantity over quality.
- Brotherhood is to become more active as the Scribes become active. I need more scribes. Ideally, they'll be doing their science stuff and the Knights guard them, while Paladins (who are relatively active already) go about on their usual patrols looking for technology or possible threats.
- Enclave is to become a force to be truly feared. I want people to hear Vertibirds and flee for the nearest cover. I admit this was one point I have to credit Jake with when he ran the Enclave. At the time I viewed it to be very powergaming, but now I see the purpose of it. I was fucking scared when I knew they were coming.

What the goal is:
- NCR was hopefully humbled by the battle we had. Their winning streak was put to a screeching halt. However, this is a victory for FRP as a whole. Although NCR lost, now they have a rather interesting storyline to follow.
- Brotherhood will eventually be taken over by a Head Paladin, Head Knight, and Head Scribe, who will lead the faction on their own until I come on with my Elder. If we properly follow the Chain that Binds, and so far it's worked well, then I shouldn't need to babysit the Brotherhood for them to stay active. That means I can maintain other admin duties.
- Enclave's "Zulu" Fireteam is to become a main antagonist of Fallout RP. They will be back. Exile has made Enclave an event faction for the time being, but that only means we can refine the playerbase behind it and expand recruiting options.

Will the NCR's Major ever have his revenge? Tune in next time for another exciting episode.

So far I like the critique coming out of this. Keep it coming. I want to know anything that can go wrong with the plans above that I could have missed.
