Sleep and unconciousness, and moving ragdolls

Sleep: You typed something like /sleep and your corpse would be turned into a ragdoll. If you were moved to quick or brutally, you would wake up, or if you are hit by a weapon, you die instantly.

Unconsciousness: If you were hit by a blunt weapon or an object in high speed, you aren't killed but knocked unconscious.
               When unconscious, players can move you around or kill you. you can be killed either by getting hit by a
               weapon, object at high enough speed, or falling from a height.


Moving "alive" ragdolls: dead players corpse should still be able to be moved by the phys-gun or something. Sleeping and unconscious players however, should be required to be actually lifted and carried(you use your hands).

I posted these suggestions because they could both give a better RP feeling. ;)

No, simply put.
Why? Ragdolls lag a terrible lot, the entire thing is practically Moving Lua. Plus it'd be too easy for newbies to abuse. (/sleep, suicide, respawn, flail half the server populace with the Ragdoll, then just /sleep again once captured to respawn at the bloody ragdoll.)

wow MattyK, you really surprise me.
by that i mean that you only focus on how an idea could be abused by minges, and not even think of what other possibilities it could open up for.
I agree that ragdolls can cause some lag, but that's only if they are duplicated into big numbers, and minges can abuse this, but "serious" minges gets Kicked/banned.
And i don't see any point in what you said in the ().
please note that none of this is hostile, just defending my idea ;)

And by the way, if by "necromancing" you mean the thread that I locked because it was a copy of this one, It was an accident. My internet screwed up, and somehow the thread got duplicated when i refreshed the page. And it only happened this one time.

YOu have to take into account every little gritty aspect of the feature, and the fact that Ragdolls = Lagdolls.
Ten lost FPS to a ragdoll may not sound like much, but the S.T.A.L.K.E.R RP on average has about 10 random ragdoll'd corpses lying around at a time. And that's a good chunk of FPS removed, making Older Systems almost unable to play.

Besides, we don't want a sleeping citizen to be dragged off in the middle of the night, only to be seen floating above a pool of lava moments later ;)

I'm going to jump in, you can make the bodies unable to be physed. There are hand sweps out there that act like a grav gun but works with ragdolls too. A plus off the hands thing is that if you move to fast you might drop the body, meaning you do realistic rp by walking slowly.

THe point is, if it has physics, it CAN BE MINGED.
And i really don't want to see sleeping people being tossed around, bodyparts halfway thru walls, via EasyWeld.

as for the sleep idea, no ragdolls would be okay, as long as the screen turned black or something :)
But the unconsciousness i still think should be the way i described it, only with one addition:
you can choose to kill yourself and respawn when knocked unconscious if someone is DM'ing you. This will ofc mean your ragdoll body disappears

Concerning your last line, that is the way with the current Cakescript, you have to reselect your character at it's creationscreen, however the ragdolls DO NOT fade >.<
