Wiki Page:
PlanetSide is a massively-multiplayer online first-person-shooter video game published by Sony Online Entertainment and released on May 20, 2003.[1]
PlanetSide chronicles the efforts of three factions as they fight for territorial control over ten different continents on the planet Auraxis. Players take on the role of individual soldiers fighting for one of the three factions within the game, and can specialize in various fields such as combat vehicle crewman, infantry, invisible infiltrator or a variety of combat support roles such as combat medic or combat engineer. The game is played primarily in a first person perspective, with the option of third-person.
Unlike most shooting games, in which small-scale matches take place in essentially an instanced map, PlanetSide battles can involve hundreds of players in a single fight. PlanetSide battles concern control over territory and strategic points, and can cause repercussions to all three factions. To date, PlanetSide remains one of the few MMOFPS games ever created. A sequel, Planetside 2, was released in November, 2012.

The Rub:

All previous Planetside 1 subscribers and Planetside 2 players received 6 months free of Planetside 1 Subscriptions. Core Combat content has been disabled for this trial. Wanted to play Planetside 2 but the lack of optimization is keeping you out? Give PS1 a try!

Main Website:

Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS game set in the near future. The game focuses on the aftermath of a massive ecological catastrophe on Earth, the reasons behind which are only vaguely known.

Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, as maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power-plants. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly expanding with terrifying speed across the planet. Countries collapse; anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who can survive.

The game is developed with new proprietary Vostok Engine technology and is planned for release on PC by the end of 2013.

(Click picture to go to alpha application page)

Developed by Vostok Games, formerly GSC World Staff. They worked on the STALKER series and STALKER 2 up until GSC was closed abruptly for unknown reasons.

Will you survive in this new world?

School girls with guns annoy the hell out of me. School girls with tanks, christ, I don't know what to think anymore.

Vanu for life.
I like their latex.

What a shame the game crashes for me all the time, I really need to get new pc ;_;

I'm waiting for the game to be optimized and balanced before I pick it back up. It's not so much that yuo need a new PC, the game has next to no optimization at the moment.

I enjoy it, but I feel like you can only really like it if you work with a large group.

Lone wolves and small squads get blown away quickly.

Even then, the retarded balance just makes large scale combat depy. Zerg rushes spawn. The end, there is no base defense.

Actually, in some locations, Zerg Rushes are just a way to give points to the enemy. At choke points and on the mountain bases like The Crown.

I spent a good three hours defending the crown raking in certs from Zergs.
Eventually my team went offline and another army made it's push on us from another side.

Tank convoys can be easily held off at some of these choke points with a little coordination. I've been enjoying my time lately, been getting better at piloting the Mosquito. Taking on fully crewed Liberators on my own lately.

The Crown is the biggest joke in Planetside 2 though.

Literally bust out laughing everytime I see the crown mentioned in command chat.

They are going to fuck up elderscrolls arn't they.

They already did my son....

PS2 is like, Battlefield 3.5, complete with awful monetization schemes (read: bad business practices) and awful balance.

Let's remove half the content on the player models from beta and sell it on launch for 8 dollars as a 'cosmetic upgrade'!

I don't hate PS2, it's just a huge let down. I hope it gets better in a years time or two but as is I wouldn't (and don't) really bother. Got over 11 days of in-game play time and i just got tired of it.

Do keep a look out for Planetside 1 which is going free to play before June.

Not gonna bother commenting on aesthetics.

Aside from random generation, which sounds much needed and interesting, I don't really see much innovation. Part of the issue with X Z games is the lack of end game and or lack of content. I've yet to see anything about that. (Granted i'm looking into it a bit more).

I understand sandbox games are meant to be open ended but neither X Z games give you many/any sandbox tools.

Really hoping this isn't another cash in.

Is there a way to rn DayZ LAN? If so, i'de rather have a small private dedi because I just can't deal with children in video games most of the time. Day Z sounds fucking awful online.

"OMG But you have 2 deal w/ other people its so realistic"

in reality, people wouldn't be finding guns in barns or shooting people on sight. I can understand survival and PVP aspect in a realistic scenario but once you remove the penalty of death and you move it into the video game realm where you technically arn't ending another person's life, you get people not afraid to pull the trigger and death matching all over the place. This is the SAME premise i've observed in my years of video game RP and it just doesn't work.

tl;dr: people are awful so anything MMO oriented is filled with awful people, loko at any F2P game community like TF2 or Combat Arms

Genre: Free to Play FPS

Platform: PC

► WTF Is... - Blacklight : Retribution ?

It's a free to play COD clone exept there's a fair amount more balance to it and some pretty neat game mechanics. It's availible on steam and is pretty entertaining. The game really shines in its weapon customization and the amount of stats and information you are given, and also every upgrade sans the knife upgrades are sidegrades, which makes for some fairly interesting gun builds over all.

Note: It still suffers from COD spawns and bad maps but it IS free and it's a pretty nice change from other modern shooters.

Edit: I used the forum search and didn't find any results but I manually searched through HGN play and found a thread, weird. I may delete this or I may keep this here because HGN Play is a pretty specific sub-forum for organizing events, not discussing new games.

1) Fandoms are awful (even for things I do enjoy)
2)Why people generally dislike ponyfags:
Unboxing of 2012 My Little Pony toys at McDonalds.mp4
Pony Confessions Simulator 1.0

Doesn't help that I had an RL friend pick ponies over friendship eather.

If you can't see WHY people have a problem with it then that's pretty bad..

This entire thread just emphasizes the point made by meetdadoom even moreso.

Just throwin it out there as some one who can speak objectivly (I dont know him) but his argument has the most backing in this entire thread and I can safely sa he's winning, so to speak.

Yep, almost every route I take is darker, but when I look behind  my eyes get blinded by the light....

I'm already light insensitive (night blind) so I primarily stopped playing ArmA 2 simply because of that reason I listed above. The LDR/HDR is worse then Bad Company 2's, and that was AWFUL.

Anime / Re: Anime Suggestions
« on: 22-06-2012 »
Long lists are always tl;dr, especially when you list over two series that have more then two seasons.

Black Lagoon if you like black humor, badd assery, gun play and gray morality.

Higurashi's pretty fantastic IDK why though.

uuuh i can't really think of anything else.

Jin-roh is a short ~2 hour OVA that's got a pretty good plot and setting. Again, guns, bad ass but it also has alot of political stress and lnfluences so INVISIBLE WARS

Sun Chips and All Dressed Ruffles.

Been enjoying Jalepeno chips as of late to mix things up.

Highly recomend Sweet Chili Heat Doritos.

Also, why make a mod a full-time gam- wait, they did it with DotA.

Why? Ask Valve:

Team Fortress: Classic
Left 4 Dead

Also see Killing Floor.

I hope they fix it so that the game isn't completely black and impossible to see in during the afternoon on a sunny day. The build in LDR/HDR in ArmA 2 is awful and I feel further blinded while plaing it. Who'da thought day time would be darker then he evening.

Serious Debates / Re: Subjective Morality?
« on: 22-05-2012 »

high-school grade sociology is p. deep....not

I dont.

I personally believe that how a game feels plays and moves is entirely relient on the game engine. Take CS and CSS for instance. Source is based off of the Goldsource engine but it modded so heavily that it is essentially its own game engine. Movement and shooting are very different in the two evein if they are a remake by the SAME COMPANY. (I'de compared HL:S and HL but I never played HL:S but i'm sure you'lll see what I mean)

At most the weapons look and sound like Crysis weapons and even if they're tweeked they may never feel the same as any weapons from STALKER.

Another example would be Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 1943 (a remake on a new engine)

You get Combined Ops on steam if you have ArmA 2 and OpArrowhead.

Weird that EU servers arn't hosted in EU. I guess the name's misleading moe then anything.

Eck. EU servers sound like a pain in the ass with all the lag.
