~ The Blood Moon Spirit: Corrupted under the influence of the Blood Moon, Hidekazu gains a large amount of muscle mass after taking off his Gi.  Under his Gi is a set of body armor and matching gauntlets and shoulder pads colored with fresh blood, befitting of a barbarian after a massacre.  His pants are loose and sleek despite his body mass and he wears a pair of spiked red boots with silver linings that makes blood slip off like water.  His band's armored heart-shaped insignia shrinks and grows a bunch of orange feathers said to be from a mythical beast from the desert kingdoms.

- Cutlass : There have been rumors that somewhere in Iseyu, a treasure Dao (Chinese Broadsword) has been seen switching hands between murderers and unfortunate merchants.  Rumors tell that the sword is cursed and attracts those with evil hearts when it isn't wielded by an appropriate master.  Tseune wishes to claim this sword in order to free the blade from the eternal curse that has claimed countless lives, and Hidekazu wishes to help in the search.  [ Still in circulation ]

~ Biography ~

                                                                                In the Homeland...

  In a time and place beyond the scope of most, there was a kingdom that surpassed many of the great limitations of man, connecting the souls and worlds of alternate realities.  It was in one of these interconnected lands that a baby fated to be a hero of the people was born with the Oath of Shi'Chauhuan, making the baby a housing place for the fallen souls of other souls connected to the child.

  Being bound by the demanding power of the Oath of Shi'Chauhuan, the baby was raised to be pious and taught The Way of Peace.  Carrying charm and skill equal to heroes of myth, the baby grew into a man whom was as good with the ladies as he was in battle and as a working man.  Hundreds of generations later, his family line can be found in countless worlds in number.  This man is Hidekazu's ancestor from the Age of Imbalance, a time of chaos with records lost in the ever-growing archives of Chenka Shi'Nojiie.

~ Biography ~

                                                                                In the Homeland...

  In a time and place beyond the scope of most, there was a kingdom that surpassed many of the great limitations of man, connecting the souls and worlds of alternate realities.  It was in one of these interconnected lands that a baby fated to be a hero of the people was born with the Oath of Shi'Chauhuan, making the baby a housing place for the fallen souls of other souls connected to the child.

  Being bound by the demanding power of the Oath of Shi'Chauhuan, the baby was raised to be pious and taught The Way of Peace.  Carrying charm and skill equal to heroes of myth, the baby grew into a man whom was as good with the ladies as he was in battle and as a working man.  Hundreds of generations later, his family line can be found in countless worlds in number.  This man is Tseune's ancestor from the Age of Imbalance, a time of chaos with records lost in the ever-growing archives of Chenka Shi'Nojiie.

                                                                                      Prologue

    A human from a land far to the east, he was spirited away from his homeland while working deep underground, looking for something to make a gift for his fiancÚ.  When he awoke, he found himself in a land far, far from his homeland with nothing but his clothes.  In that land, he made friends with an old man and his family, served in their military, and became a hero of the people while teaching people of his culture and leaving an Embassy in the land.  After his work was done, he gave away as much of his belongings as he could to the people and used what remained to travel to the next land, all in hopes of spreading joy and protecting the people as he journeyed back to his homeland.  Since that first adventure, he repeated his behavior in every realm that showed kindness to him.

    His journey eventually led him into the land of Caphori, a realm of Iseyu.  There, he spent a significant amount of time among the people and the many affairs of the land, igniting his nature to stay and assist whenever possible.  Over his time in Caphori, Tseune has made several migrations after terrible incidents and met many intriguing individuals, convincing him to stay a while longer.  But now, the winds of change are blowing and the people have grown restless, including Tseune.  His plans are in motion and Tseune prepares for his long journey to return home and reunite with his fiancÚ, but he won't leave without leaving someone or something to take his place as the voice of the people and help guard them against the dangers that have reared their heads in recent years...


                                                                                    A New Land

   Tseune arrives on an island split from the rest of the world using a small ship filled with supplies and a rag-tag crew.  Sneaking onto the land at night, he scouts for any sign of civilization and a place to begin his plans, but encounters familiar faces and calls for his crew to split off and hide until the time comes for them to regroup.  His reunion with his old allies is cut short as the others carry on with their own business.  Tseune decides to find a place to lay low for a while and finds the new Embassy established by Hidekazu.  Seeing familiar faces and comforted by the styles of home, he decides to hide away in the Embassy, plotting and planning while he is still bound.

  The Empire of the Setting Sun (also commonly called Issan when referring to the lands controlled by the main government of the empire and ESS for short) has a long history twisted and united by the powers of the foreign entities imbued with a different form of magic unseen beyond the Unified Land of Shi'Urai, a Holy Land that links together various alternate realities.

  The ESS is a vast empire spreading from a small country in the far east, dotting even lands to the west.  Their influence is vast, but their name is practically unknown beyond the borders of the empire.  Nearly all of the empire consists of allied countries, kingdoms, and puppet states who share similar ideals or beliefs with the empire, but are not restrained by the government of Issan, meaning that these lands would remain concentrated on their own affairs and continue using their own names and coat-of-arms rather than that of Issan.  In order to spread the name of the empire, heroes and those with great potential are sent to other lands to spread the influence of the empire with their actions, though most of the deployed individuals don't realize they are being used in such a way.
  As a side-effect of the methods employed to spread the influence of the ESS and the freedoms retained by the various lands that have agreed to fight under the banner of Issan when prompted, revolts, coup d'Útats, and assassination attempts have become much more common outside of Issan due to lingering extremist beliefs and ambitious individuals of the "independent" lands.  Alongside the increased internal struggles, wars are still fought between lands that would fight under the banner of Issan.  The situation of the ESS has piqued the interest of countless intellectuals, and one famed scholar and general by the name of Siyves Haluum remarked, "An empire in chaos spreads its will across the world, consumed in internal strife and civil war with few absolutes.  They continue to shed each other's blood, despite their allegiances, and vie for power over each other!  ...And yet this empire is the home to countless heroes of all races, genders, and cultures.  An empire that will unite in a time of great need and aid each other in recovery when the fighting is done.  I believe that this empire is the expression of our souls.  A field to cultivate the true potential of all beings."

  The ESS found in the current world is a loose empire that suffers from constant power struggles and a general lack of unity when a great threat to the world is absent.  Wars are still waged and disputes roar rampant, but all of the Issanese emissaries are connected and their influences weave into the outer lands like a deep-rooted tree into stone.  When the time to unite comes, all the emissaries will know and initiate a call to arms against great threats, halting many wars and conflicts until the threat has been purged.  But just as they can unite territories, there is a common fear that they may just as easily destroy them.

  Generally, lands owned by the patriotic people of Issan are very well-developed in both culture and technology, but hold tightly to many traditional arts that tend to be less practical and difficult to maintain in an expanding society bombarded with different ideologies and threats.  Traditionally, structures tend to have domed roofs and are often connected to other buildings, creating large networks that unify their towns and cities with various traps set to defend the territories.  Yet each town and city is greatly influenced by their leader(s) and/or founder(s) along with the local environment, causing a great variation between different realms.

  The division of the ESS for our story is centered in Caphori, a realm within Iseyu.  Led by a foreigner who has won the hearts of many promising individuals, the foreigner has established a position in the lands of Iseyu and has called for many from the eastern lands and some natives to make a new home alongside him.  Architects, engineers, scientists, artists, craftsmen, warriors, mages... people of all professions have gathered under the foreigner's banner, creating their new home in a matter of days.  But this sudden rise to power and claim to land has angered many local lords- not only for their new competition, but also for the fact that the new land is filled with foreigners from so-called "barbaric lands."  There are also rumors that some of the local rulers oppose the new faction due to personal matters.
  The foreigner believes in creating a beautiful kingdom filled with a sort of understanding and unity between people: a sort of idealistic society.  Perhaps even a utopia... but both the foreigner and the people knew that such ideals cannot be achieved as long as hostility exists.  Every person is taught some form of combat in order to survive and perhaps even achieve victory.  Weapons, spells, devices, and even words are used by the people in order to fight.
  Believing in the will of the people under the foreigner's leadership but lacking trust of those who have political power, the foreigner carries absolute power over nearly all matters, but spends time listening to the people and visiting even the lowliest of individuals in his kingdom personally not as a noble, but as a friend.  Despite having such power, the foreigner holds a few select individuals in high regard and would often leave them to manage the lands during the foreigner's absence or inability to lead.

  The leader of the faction's Iseyu branch is an idealistic and capricious individual who behaves more like a philosopher and storyteller than a leader, but carries a mischievousness and cunning that has proven quite dangerous.  It can be said that the leader is also very selfish, but masks it under sincere virtues and care for others.  But it can also be said that the leader is a highly manipulative and devious individual, using the faults of others to control them and utilizing countless traps and secret passages to achieve various ends.  Despite the various rumors, the people remain loyal to their leader.

Let us see how history will unfold for this small kingdom in a hostile land, for a great tale may be weaved...

A scholar who studies different political powers had this to say about the Empire of the Setting Sun:
  The Empire of the Setting Sun seems to be a militaristic society that thrives off conflict and seems to be very effective at propaganda.  Their people tend to be very manipulative, but sincere and true to their virtues, making them very dangerous.  The empire does not seem to value the overall security of territories outside of the control of their central government, leaving those territories to fend for themselves during internal struggles, thus wars are constantly waged between territories within the empire.  Despite this, territories of the empire outside of the control of the central government are aided by the deployed Issanese emissaries and heroes.  In addition, the territories that are attacked by non-ESS forces will cease any conflict with other ESS territories and will often band together to repel the invading forces.  The empire seems to be very chaotic in nature, but the empire's ability to unify and have territories defend each other when necessary is curious and even suspicious.  There are even reported incidents where a war would end with little damage to civilian life and the winning force assisting in the restoration of the defeated as if the war was just a game between rivals.  It is also noted that the empire's borders are constantly changing with plenty of ESS territories that aren't publicly known, making a political mapping nearly impossible.

Position Information:
A government-sent official used to spread influence to external territories.  When given the "voice of the people," a Shi'Unsen will often create a faction and begin leading people as either a guild master, head monk, or ruler.  The Shi'Unsen who take upon leadership positions are primarily assigned to spread the influence of the empire and to protect the people under their charge, but in no way are a permanent part of a faction, often leaving in pursuit of personal goals or duty.

 

Shi'Raigon (similar to the rank of trusted advisor):


Position Information:
Trusted individuals serving a Shi'Unsen.  These individuals carry out the will of the Shi'Unsen in his/her absence and assists the people and their master when needed.  If the Shi'Unsen should go missing, the Shi'Raigon are charged with leading in his/her stead.  The Shi'Raigon also tend to lead their own divisions such as magic research or military operations.  The Shi'Raigon often have several Shi'Kharus in their personal service for such work.



Shi'Kharu (ranked officials selected for their skills):


Position Information:
Officials appointed by either the Shi'Unsen or a Shi'Raigon for their skills and strength of virtue.  The Shi'Kharu will often choose to serve under the command of the Shi'Unsen and/or one or more Shi'Raigons.  Shi'Kharus who manage to serve under at least one commanding officer are often highly prized and respected individuals who often carry secrets of those who they serve under.  During times of emergencies or great projects, the Shi'Kharu are responsible for coordinating and managing the workforce while partaking in the work themselves.



Ie'Des (regular members):


Position Information:
The common people.  A versatile group of varying skills and abilities.  These individuals have shown promise and are deemed fit to live and serve the faction.  They are the primary workforce and are often visited by officials.



Nos'Des (probationary members):


Position Information:
The common people.  These people are observed and judged by the officials of a faction, but given chances to prove themselves.  They are not taught any special skills and do not own property in the faction.



Kuaissen (volunteers):


Position Information:
Temporary members.  These are people who aren't officially members of the kingdom, but assist or once assisted in its development and growth.  Volunteers are recorded in the royal logs (with permission) for display to the public.

Scrapyard / Orientation and Coordination

I started thinking about several issues I've spotted in-game when roleplaying, and I wanted to get some of this stuff cleared up.  I also plan to have this thread to address any other conflicting information of similar manner, though I doubt we'll have that sort of issue.

1.) East and West
          I've noticed that there have been differences between what is east and what is west.  We've been taught that the sun rises in the east, but we see east and west on a 2D world as if we are looking at a map (left would be west and right would be east).  In Terraria, though, the sun rises from the left which is usually seen as the west.  Thus, we have conflicting views on what is east and what is west.  Let's clear this up, shall we?  Of course, in-game, it is determined that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

2.) Time
          As we all know, Terraria's day-night cycle is extremely short, so time is always quite funny for keeping track of roleplaying (dating events and whatnot).  Every minute is one in-game hour, making 24 minutes equal one in-game day.  This is a pain to keep track of, so I've been using a time cycle I refer to as "The Cosmic Timeline" to keep track of when things happen.  The Cosmic Timeline is basically using the real world's time instead of the in-game time.  In this case, though, I'd like some sort of time zone designation to be the basis of The Cosmic Timeline.  What do all of you suggest for the time zone?  I live in the US East Coast, also known as EST (Eastern Standard Time) or UTC -5 hours.

While conducting my usual rounds, I noticed someone had been digging in the tunnels nearby Dtsuki and Nemis' home.  It seems to have a tunnel entering the base tunnel as shown here:

Further investigation lead to suspicion of theft.  While most was unknown whether theft occurred, I noticed that a stack of books had vanished from Nemis' chest, as shown in this image:

The books were located between the torches and stars in the chest.  Suspicion of theft will remain unless told otherwise by the owner.  Afterwards, there was also a tunnel above Dtsuki's room, as shown in this image:

I've begun repairs, but there are just some things that I can't replace.  Though I don't know if anything can or will be done about this, I find this to be good practice.  Please note: the behavior that instigated this report is highly frowned upon.

  After a great length of time fighting and exploring alone, Tseune encounted a man who showed Tseune a great kindness.  The man provided supplies, a set of iron armor, and a legendary gold broadsword to Tseune before he vanished.  That man's name is Garth.  Since Garth left, Tseune had taken up residence in the Garth's former residence and created the Embassy: a place where new arrivals can take safe haven and where the people of Caphori can request services or find jobs that pay in one way or another.  Now, Tseune assists new arrivals that appear while he is on duty and tries to assist others as they strive to survive and live in the land.
  After spending a great deal of time helping many new arrivals, two of which made their homes in front of the Embassy, Tseune soon found himself assisting a cultist.  Though Tseune dislikes the idea of the cultist spreading corruption, Tseune believes that he should not retaliate unless someone gets hurt.  Since then, Tseune has cleaned up mess after mess, but developed a strong bonds of friendship with several others due to the corruption, including the cultist.
                                                                                ~ Chapter 4 : Evil from the Past ~
  Some time after his meeting with the cultist on the cosmic day of [April 18, 2013 - pending on timezone], Tseune and his comrade Silvis encountered a strange man named Wilson.  Their meeting was bizarre as Wilson was found trying to find things to eat, killing rabbits and birds in front of the Embassy.  When Tseune first encountered Wilson, Tseune was immediately on guard, sensing danger from Wilson.  Yet, out of grace, Tseune provided Wilson with food and drink which consisted of a bowl of soup and dirty water (as requested by Wilson).  Soon after the meal, Wilson began to act with madness and shot his own foot before running off and leaving a bloody mess around the Embassy.  Before Wilson fired, though, Tseune called out to Silvis for assistance in the matter, and upon Silvis' arrival at the Embassy, Tseune asked Silvis to keep an eye on Wilson, knowing that Wilson could only be a threat.
  After Tseune had cleaned the mess at the Embassy, Silvis returned and reported on the condition of Wilson, who wasn't that far from the Embassy.  Out of concern, Tseune and Silvis followed Wilson and found Wilson with a foot that made a full 360 degree twist.  After some stubborn discussion with the injured Wilson, Tseune helped Wilson up and guided him home with Silvis as a guard.  What Tseune found was rather disturbing to Tseune, though it cleared up a lot about Wilson.
  The duo soon found themselves in Wilson's home, which laid in corrupted lands.  After helping Wilson to his bed, Tseune and Silvis began discussing Wilson's behavior and the corruption, but soon found themselves before another one of Wilson's suicidal moments.  Tseune and Silvis retreated to the room above as Wilson was charging a spell, but returned when they heard an explosion.  Upon returning to Wilson's room, they had found that his hand was blown to bits and that the walls around Wilson were stained with blood... and Wilson wasn't exactly himself anymore.  In fact, another being was controlling Wilson, and revealed a bit of old history about beings that wished to destroy the denizens of Caphori.  After a deep discussion, Tseune and Silvis returned to the Embassy to discuss how to deal with the coming threat.  The idea of bringing the Hallow to fight against the corruption came by, but Tseune believed in the path of balance as taught by his countrymen and suggested otherwise.  Silvis saw the reasoning of Tseune's teachings and agreed, ending their discussion with a joke and a pint of ale before returning to face Wilson.
  Upon their second meeting with Wilson, the duo found themselves in a den where a forbidden summoning ritual was held, and much more was revealed about this old threat.  Wilson was just another pawn being controlled by a being who behaved like the stereotypical war-mongering loyal drone, and this angered Tseune greatly.  There, Tseune, Silvis, and Wilson challenged each other through philosophy, testing the integrity of Tseune and Silvis.  After their meeting and a rude, foreign gesture Tseune shared with Wilson before leaving, Tseune and Silvis returned to the Embassy and further discussed the issue against the old threat while planning to inform other allies and inquire on a matter relating to a goblin who had a cruel encounter with the threatning beings.  In the end, Tseune and Silvis became assured of their path and vowed to stand by each other to combat the coming threat, hoping to recruit others to the cause to protect Caphori.

                                                                               ~ Chapter 8 : A New Land ~

  After a harrowing event unleashed in the last land, Tseune and Silvis moved on to find a safer place to begin again.  The two eventually arrived in an untouched expanse and began the first steps of civilization, laying the foundation for Balai.  Since then, the town had expanded into a river town housing survivors of the chaos.
  It was during the town's early developments that Tseune had a fated meeting with a disguised humanoid feline named Tsuki, leading to a series of events that
