Wiki Page:
PlanetSide is a massively-multiplayer online first-person-shooter video game published by Sony Online Entertainment and released on May 20, 2003.[1]
PlanetSide chronicles the efforts of three factions as they fight for territorial control over ten different continents on the planet Auraxis. Players take on the role of individual soldiers fighting for one of the three factions within the game, and can specialize in various fields such as combat vehicle crewman, infantry, invisible infiltrator or a variety of combat support roles such as combat medic or combat engineer. The game is played primarily in a first person perspective, with the option of third-person.
Unlike most shooting games, in which small-scale matches take place in essentially an instanced map, PlanetSide battles can involve hundreds of players in a single fight. PlanetSide battles concern control over territory and strategic points, and can cause repercussions to all three factions. To date, PlanetSide remains one of the few MMOFPS games ever created. A sequel, Planetside 2, was released in November, 2012.

The Rub:

All previous Planetside 1 subscribers and Planetside 2 players received 6 months free of Planetside 1 Subscriptions. Core Combat content has been disabled for this trial. Wanted to play Planetside 2 but the lack of optimization is keeping you out? Give PS1 a try!

Main Website:

Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS game set in the near future. The game focuses on the aftermath of a massive ecological catastrophe on Earth, the reasons behind which are only vaguely known.

Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, as maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power-plants. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly expanding with terrifying speed across the planet. Countries collapse; anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who can survive.

The game is developed with new proprietary Vostok Engine technology and is planned for release on PC by the end of 2013.

Developed by Vostok Games, formerly GSC World Staff. They worked on the STALKER series and STALKER 2 up until GSC was closed abruptly for unknown reasons.

Will you survive in this new world?

Genre: Free to Play FPS

Platform: PC

► WTF Is... - Blacklight : Retribution ?

It's a free to play COD clone exept there's a fair amount more balance to it and some pretty neat game mechanics. It's availible on steam and is pretty entertaining. The game really shines in its weapon customization and the amount of stats and information you are given, and also every upgrade sans the knife upgrades are sidegrades, which makes for some fairly interesting gun builds over all.

Note: It still suffers from COD spawns and bad maps but it IS free and it's a pretty nice change from other modern shooters.

Edit: I used the forum search and didn't find any results but I manually searched through HGN play and found a thread, weird. I may delete this or I may keep this here because HGN Play is a pretty specific sub-forum for organizing events, not discussing new games.

Skullgirls Anai Infinite Combo System Gameplay [HD]

Skullgirls is a fast-paced, 2D fighting game developed by Reverge Labs and lead by tournament champ Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont and artist Alex “o_8” Ahad.
Drawing on the best features the genre has to offer, Skullgirls is designed to be a tournament-grade fighter while remaining approachable and engaging for the casual player.

  • Skullgirls features the most frames of animation per character of any fighting game, hand-drawn at high resolution and enhanced by real-time lighting courtesy of a powerful 3D engine
  • Classic six-button play gives characters a huge variety of attacks and special moves
  • With the Variable Tag Battle system, players can pit mismatched teams of one, two or three characters against one another
  • Custom Assists let you outfit your team with a huge variety of attacks for nearly endless strategic possibilities
  • A robust anti-infinite combo system keeps competitive play free of abusive tactics
  • Robust tutorials and an AI designed to teach eases new players into the traditionally intimidating fighting game genre and helps you improve from there
  • Official GGPO netcode ensures lag-free fighting online
  • A stunning soundtrack by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night composer Michiru Yamane draws you into the game’s unique “Dark Deco” world

I got this shit and i'm ready to be TERRIBLE AT SOME FIGHTAN GAMES. Anyone got/plan on getting SkullGrills? What console and PSN's and shint! LEt's get some fights goin on maybe? (Not very GOOD) Favorite Characters even? I'm banking on Cerebella, Peacock and Paasoul as my favs and Miss Fortune.

Music / [SNES] Lock-On
« on: 25-03-2012 »
Posting this pretty dank OST from a pretty not-famous SNES game called Lock-On. I used to play this a bunch back in the day so the music always stuck with me. This soundtrack makes really good use of the SNES chipset.

I uploaded the entire ost (save for the boss music) in HD/Stereo a while back.

Personal Favs:

Serious Debates / Deus Ex 2
« on: 16-03-2012 »
So, i'de just like to hear from yall youngins why you hate Deus Ex 2 so much (or if you like it). I plan on making a comparisn of the two with some points that i have about why it was received the way it was but i'de like to open the floor to any and all for a dicussion on the subject of the 2nd in the series.
Main points of interest you may want to look at to talk about:
Ammo System
Augmentation System
Removal of Leveling
Map sizes
Story line
Types of Quests
Lock Picking
To start off, i'de like to bring up the ammo system.

One of the main faults for non-lethal players in Deus Ex is the severe limitation on engagement imposed by ammunition. Generally you could only find non-lethal ammunition on very specific enemies because it was highly specialised ammo, making it uncommon. This causes players (like myself) to be stingy and avoid confrontation or to find ways to work with the ammo restraints (if going non-lethal). For example, in Deus Ex I late found out that you can use lethal crossbow ammunition to shoot the guns off of soldiers (think it was 1-2 shots even untrained), which made the enemy run around aimlessly and allowed you to beat them unconcious with your baton. This saved much precious tranq darts for me and helped me much later on. Regardless of if you played Run-N-Gun or Non-lethal or just stealth, you would always receive ammo that mosst times you could not use. To address this issue, Deus Ex used a much more versatile system which gained it alot of negative criticism.

Deus Ex 2's system made all weapons of all types use the same ammunition. Rocket Launchers used up the same ammo pistols did and vice versa. As restrictive as this system was, this served as the much needed branch between stealth and run-n-gun gameplay. All stelath weapons ran off the same ammunition as the weapons used by a run-n-gunner. Non-lethal players could now tackle enemies and situtions with MUCH more leniency. Although poor in execution, the concept unifies both game styles so I give it some much unpopular rep in that regard.

The counter argument? I can imagine that some of the critiques aim towards the 'consolization' of the game by making it far more dumbed down, but I beg to differ. The ball's in your court now, feel free to dicuss about ammo or begin on a new topic

Friend runs this new, hip doujin circle called 'saxmasters', making really great games!!!

look its touhou game C81……… p.s. you need rmvx ace RTP to play it ok.

Requires RPG Maker RTP

Trying to track down some decent mmo's to piss around with with moderate time span in mind.

Anyone have any suggestions (albeit with reasons) or any favorite MMO's?

Currently I've been playing Lineage 2 (not often cause friends arn't on) and one of my favorite MMO's is Anarchy Online (great skill system and class system)

I was thinking of getting my friend together and mayb esome others for a 2 week vacation in Planetside...

Unboxing the My Little Pony 2012 McDonalds toys

Watch it all, i dare you, atleast till after 5:32

Welp, ObLost 2010 got updated this november/december. Has anyone here tried it out yet? One of the core main features IMHO is the newest Arsenal Mod (RC2.0) has been alreayd merged with the game. Lotsa new guns and several new ammo types (9x18mm incindiary, mmm).

I've been live streaming and recording all of my Oblost 2010 footage on my livestream, 50rads (albeit one session was on my main channel), and yeah, it's a pretty decent mod. My only gripe is the AI seems really stupid now but I think it's because when I installed People's Soup it fucked with my game files (stuff is happening to rag dolls that enver happened before). Still, makes stealth play a bit easier, the AI has less god-like aim at night time and what not.

I guess.

Not sure for how long, but i'm here for now. All depends on how active it is and how lively discussions go.

p.s if I necro anything, don't mind. I'm contributing to the thread so it doesn't really matter. (better to post in an existing one then to create a new one! Look at the 7-9 skyrim threads)

p.p.s i'm not dev team anymore buf mod to the entertainment or video games sections only wouldn't be too shabby for myself.

I'm pretty fickle but post offers and i'll see if anything piques my interests.

Bidding starts at: something!

Seriously, I want to know why you guys set yourselves up to be trolled time and time again.

Why? Why do y'all respond in the chidlish manor that often just promotes more frustration only on your part?

Don't you wish to respond to some one in a professional manor to show "Hey, I'm coming off as some one who's not new to the internet or 11 years old!"

Seriously, i'm curious to hear what you guys have to say.

Edit: already lol'ing @ responces. o u kids

So, i've searched the forum and couln't find a topi for this mod, so without further delay I will introduce to you...

(A Half-Life 1 Modification)

Half-Life 2: Jaykin' Bacon: Source is one of the lesser played albeit one of the best HL1 mods out there. It features a very very wide variety of wepaons. You're probably more interested in hearing about the game its self though so read on.

Side Note: You'll like it if you like MGS probably.

Game Modes:

Death Match: Classic style death match. With long dive being a default manuver and Action Half-Life style diving, combat is fast paced. Every player spawns with all weapons and it's just pure carnage. I find Deathmatch fun in the sense that, even if you die, alot of the time it's in ways that are funny.

Team Death Match: It's like Death Match, but in teams. Havn't played this mode yet because it seems like it'de promote competativeness, which this mod is absolutly not about (You can be, but it's easy because the roots of the mod is as a joke mod, so there are several OP weapos).

Battle Royale: It's like the movie. Each player is given a single weapon (often a silly weapon like a singular trip mine or a scoped knife) and the fist weapon.

The goal is simple: be the last alive.

When prone and crouched, you are transparent (hiding), so stealth is possible and encouraged when you arn't strapped.

Snake Versus Monkies (or Mercs): This game mode plays out like alot of Metal Gear Solid 3. One randomly selected player will spawn as Big Boss and the others will spawn as Spetsnaz guards.

The objective for Snake is to either kill all the monkies or get to the kerotan pile and touch it. To complete this, you must manage your camo and hiding to avoid detection and get the drop on guards.

The objective for the Monkies is to either kill snake or prevent him from getting to the Kerotan pile for the alloted time (I think 6 minutes). use your radios to communicate with each other and to prevent Snake's success! Team work is essential as a Monkey because you are slow, which makes you vulnerable when singled out.

Snake Versus Real Monkies
: This game mode is some what like Snake Versus Monkies. One player spawns as snake and the others spawn as monkies from Ape Escape. Monkies are fast, but armed only with Melee. Snake must survive for a 2 minutes from a never ending hoarde of monkies.

This game mode is fast paced and action packed. FUN FOR ALL AGES!

A download for the latest version and the latest version with alot of popular maps is posted in the steam group's links.

Stuff. It's one of the best HL1 mods so feel free to discuss it here and what not.

If you're a fan of modding, we've got a small mod community in the works.. The forums can be found here:

I've just recently made an MGS3 pack and a Black Lagoon Berreta sound pack.

You should all feel bad for not having a thread about it already.

Video Games / Melty Blood
« on: 25-11-2010 »

Melty Blood is one of the best 2d fighters around, and it's based off of a Doujin Visual Novel titled Tsukihime. It's a fighter based heavily on combos, opposed to many fighters which are based on few attacks and or juggling.

It has a few arcade releases, a PC release and a PS2 port.

If you like fighters, highly recommended. Also, you can get LAN/VPN working so multiplayer is do-able, and a tournament would be easy to organize too.

Edit: It's not MW2 and it lacks 20 jiggilian polygons per krundle, must be a POS mirite?

So, after moving all around campus with terrible wireless and faulty McAfee faults, i'm back with a steady supply of bandvich WOn't be gaming anytime soon though metinks.

Long version:
Code: [Select]
Mike Kern: just got my internets
Mike Kern: fucking rage was had
Mike Kern: hooked my comp up in my new dorm
Mike Kern: internet worked for a few hours
Mike Kern: then BAM
Mike Kern: didn't work anymore
Mike Kern: so i've had no internet and nothing in my room for like
Mike Kern: 2 days now
Mike Kern: and before that my internet was wireless and cut out constantly
Kirameki: Jeez...QUALITY hardware they've got, huh
Mike Kern: McAfee, etc
Mike Kern: you needed McAfee to log into the internet via some third party software which scanned if your McAfee was working
Kirameki: wtf? That's terrible
Mike Kern: and then McAfee's install got corrupted
Kirameki: So if you use a different virus scanenr you're SOL, huh?
Mike Kern: and McAfee is so terrible it doesn't supply you with an un-installer and you cannot uninstall the Agent without using command prompt
Mike Kern: nah, my school's rich so they give you copies
Mike Kern: comp students also get free keys for windows 7
Kirameki: Yeah but they pretty much force you to use thier scanner, huh
Mike Kern: just to get on
Mike Kern: i don't even use one
Mike Kern: and you can have a few installed, just might cause issues
Mike Kern: lol
Mike Kern: but yeah
Mike Kern: I was right though
Mike Kern: I told the tech guy that I couldn't un-intall all of McAfee to do a fresh install
Mike Kern: that's why it stopped working
Kirameki: Ugh. Gotta' love those virus scanners
Mike Kern: he went into command prompt and manually removed it and when I went to install it all it was fine so
Mike Kern: i woulda fixed it myself had they supplied one
Mike Kern: also
Mike Kern: they had a McAfee remover program
Mike Kern: when I ran it and it got to 100% uncompressing
Mike Kern: it'de be like
Mike Kern: which is bootless cause it's a McAfee Software remover
Kirameki: That...what...I am confuse
Mike Kern: yup
Kirameki: It's designed to remove but can't remove if the software it's supposed to remove exists?
Mike Kern: yes
Kirameki: ....find who programmed that and smash thier fingers

Firearms Source Trailer

You can grab it here;

Even if this mod doesn't turn out to be "The Greatest" or the most balanced, that wasn't the original's appeal. The large variety of weapons, the large but easily traversal maps, it was fun more so then it was technically a good shooter.
