The Readme:
---------Last.Exile's Model Development Pack--------
If your reading this, then your interested in "Modelling" or "Skinning", small steps must be taken before you can model, such as decompiling, hexing, headhacking, rigging and then adding additional/editing models. These tools can help you achieve this.
Files inside:
GUIStudioMDL - For compiling models
mdldecompiler - For decompiling, old version
StudioCompiler - New version
--------How To Install Files-------------------------
Place GUIStudioMDL and mdldecompiler in a easy accessible folder such as in your documents e.g.: documents/modeldevelopment
Place Studio compiler in: Steam\steamapps\YOURSTEAMNAME\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin
If you do not see that folder, you probably don't have sourcesdk installed, install it, it's in the tools section in your steam library.
---------Other Useful Programs (Not included)------------------
If your skinning download a program called paint.net, it's free and up there with photoshop. You also need the vtf plugin for paint.net to load Valve Texture Files.
Download Link: http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#download
.VTF Plugin for Paint.net: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=225&o=0
VTFLib - Can export/import VTF and VMT files, you can view files in this too.
Download Link: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=40
InfranView - Media viewing tool (Supports .VTF, .JPG, .AVI etc) Allows you to easily view files quickly and supports multiple formats.
Download Link: http://www.irfanview.com/index.htm
--------------Basic Run down of file types---------------------
.VTF - The texture or "image" file, in source a .VMT file needs to go with this.
.VMT - A text file which gives the details for the .VTF file to work, this can easily be edited with notepad.
.MDL - A model in source, needs to be decompiled to edit.
.QC - Important model file which outlines the base model values.
.DDS - Common texture format used in STALKER game Textures. Paint.net supports a plugin for this, as does InfranView to view it.
