Title: Successful Minecraft Server Checklist
Post by: Ragolution on 21-02-2011
The Minecraft Checklist

YOU NEED THIS (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/admn-edit-tpack-v1-3-multi-tool-pack-now-with-cuboid-fill-delete-and-permissions-v2-0.4334/)
Towny Plugin - Like a combo of Cuboid and hMod functionality (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/sec-fun-info-towny-v0-29-resident-town-nation-hierarchy-grid-based-protection.3358/)
Permissions (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/admn-info-permissions-v2-0-revolutionizing-the-group-system.1403/)
Basic Stuff (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/gen-essentials-v202-collection-of-essential-plugins-in-one-package-multiple.1262/)
MONEY SYSTEM/ECONOMY (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/econ-iconomy-2-2b-aime.40/)

Not sure if Towny and Tuna Pack will conflict.

Mandates:
RP begins IMMEDIATELY. (Thanks Zstan)
RP building your city, no one wants to be confined to City RP or Tavern RP. It's all dumb.
Who says we need a city anyway? We could just be a loosely associated community.

Requests:
Make me an Operator. I have A LOT of experience administrating and putting together minecraft servers. Access to the server files would be seriously appreciated.

The problem with all of this is that there's no really RELIABLE server client at this time- Bukkit is unstable and their scripting team fucks it up atleast once a week and all of the more advanced server clients refuse to actually release a working copy or just plain wont explain how to utilize their software.

For the time being (unless someone has a better alternative) we should just set up a stable revision of Bukkit and see whatever plug-ins are suitable/work with it properly. That last part (compatibility) will probably be the biggest issue, seeing as plugin developers and bukkit themselves can't keep organized. (Or rather, the plug-in developers are jumping the gun and developing a plug-in for something that isn't even released.)

I also appreciate how you guys decided to forgo my own Minecraft server to implement one that hardly works, is vanilla, laggy and tends to be griefed (tends to. Haha.) It really bugs me.

I don't even know why the fuck I'm helping.

Que sera sera.

Thanks, Silver.

It was a hive of scum and villany anyway.

In my opinion, the start zone was SUPER SCOURED of anything valuable and the town was pretty much a lost case.

My opinion, yes, but still.

I will indeed be assisting in much of the construction this cycle.

Wait, you installed Bukkit, right?

Ive installed bukkit yes. However it says the server is outdated when clients connect. What's up with that :/

Add me to steamfreinds so we can just have one conversation instead of a game of forums tag.

I am cannonInspector.

Edit: If you insist on forum tag, the situation is really hairy right now.

From what I can tell, the update broke a TON of stuff and the new client version is extremely hesitant to connect to the Minecraft Authentification servers. Aside that, beds disconnect everyone (when used) on SMP and the Nether appears quite broken.

A plausible hotfix for the bed error is to lock the server's time to day
