Title: Lucid dreaming
Post by: Szenti on 02-01-2012
So is this really true? If anyone here in HGN is able to lucid dream please tell me. I'm pretty interested in this.

Yes, it's possible... Just google it, you'll probably find a lot of stuff.

I have a tutorial on my pc.
tried them and worked, crazy shit happend.

It contains risks. There are several reported people who tried it and didn't woke up for half a year or longer while trying this.

here:
The last part means like, run around in a circle until you have a feeling you're in the deep dream phase. If so, do whatever you please in your dream.

From what I read from that guide, you will start to hallucinate and then you will dream instantly, so I presume you will start dreaming even when you dont have dreams usually.

Ohh, well thanks guys.
Black Star thanks for this one, this is the easiest method I could try. Today I'm going to "sleep" like this.

I dream like every 3-days.... The worst one was seeing totally random and scary faces, and the other one about getting on a bus with full of large bees wanting to kill me. (I'm allergic to the bees. Lol)
BTW. What happens if I take over control of my dream, and for some reason I just kill myself, or die somehow? I'll wake up I guess?

You always dream in your sleep, you just do not remember them. Look up Dream Recall, you will see what I mean.

You feel a large jolt of sorts before waking up typically.
It's like falling into your bed, but it feels a lot freakier, I tend to avoid dying by becoming immortal or invincible so I can stay in the Lucid Dream, or in case I do not want to be hurt.
Yes, dying hurts, so does being bitten or being shot, probably a lot less than the real thing, but it hurts a lot nonetheless.

Guide

Misses out on things that are important like Dream Recall, for all a person knows, they may of already had a Lucid Dream without them realizing, Dreams are difficult to remember after all.
Also, WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming) is pretty awkward, it works better for people who are more experienced with the steps, you also have to closely monitor your REM Cycle in order to have vivid dreams, normally 3-4 hours into your sleep, wake up via alarm clock or some shit and then induce the Lucid Dream, since you would be in the middle of your REM cycle, you should dream as soon as you sleep.

I would recommend MILD (Mantra Induced Lucid Dreaming) for beginners. I will grab a guide for you guys later on if you want.

Oh, and also; I lucid dream a lot before anyone asks, been doing so for a long time. I have fuckloads of stories to tell if you are willing to hear them, ranging from reconstructions of games (Including S.T.A.L.K.E.R), Zombie apocalypses (Not as fun as it sounds, it's actually quite depressing.), and some things that I should probably keep to myself, don't want to scar your minds here.

Usually when I die while Lucid Dreaming I just jolt a bit and wake up. Might have to do with the fact that if I die while Lucid dreaming I fall off from a huge building but meh..

It's not so much a guide than it is a step by step process, really. It's quite simple.
-Find a comfortable position in bed, time does not matter.
-Begin to repeat a soft mantra in your head, but not so loud as to keep you awake.
-The mantra can be "I will enter a Lucid Dream" or something like that.
-Keep repeating the mantra until you fall asleep, if you are fortunate, you will have a Lucid Dream.

It's not a guaranteed effect, but it's certain to work on some occasions.
Of course, as I mentioned earlier, you are going to need a good Dream Recall if you are too remember anything.
When you have a Lucid Dream and you wake up, stay calm and try to recollect all the thoughts you can of the dream, the moment you wake up is the moment that you remember it the most, so you got to try and turn it into a memory. Doing this over and over improves Dream Recall, and in doing such, you remember your dreams more vividly.

Oh, and I can't believe nobody has said this yet.
Sex during a Lucid Dream anyone? (Pretty difficult in reality, the Emotions you get tend to kill the Dream and wake you up.)

Thats not funny. I just don't know about this, but sometimes I dreamed something, barely remembered the whole dream, and weeks/months later that happened, and I was like: this happened in a dream already... And I had this kind of thing multiple times. Anyways I'm waiting to get to bed.

I had a dream where I was jumping on a trampoline, going super high in the air (like, airplane flying high) in a village in France, and all of a sudden a German WWII era V2 rocket flew past me, and I started falling. I missed the trampoline. Woke up scared as fuck. Falling in your dreams actually feels really cool, like riding a roller coaster almost. It was for me, at least.

If you've never had sex before (I'm looking at you, pistolkid) your mind will just generate vague pleasure. Also situations where it's hard to see, IE when you're pressed up against someone else's body tend to either shift your mind into deep, non-lucid sleep or waking up.

Basiclly you remember the feeling and then dream it up, only dream I really had sexually was one with this dead chicks corpse and I was hideing beind the corner from someone else in the dirty old house trying to rape the body of the girl but then my pistol split apart and yeah. Mainly for me it only stays in lucid state for a short time then I have to wake myself up or else I start trippen out and bad things happens. For me I always have the worst dreams when I sleep during the day time or when I sleep with my hand under the pillow even though that could be just me thinking that up.

Never tried it.

But in order to do it, you need to realise you are in a dream.

Once you realise this, you can pretty much alter the dream any way you want.

In order to remember your dreams better, it'll help greatly by writing them down, and/or go early to bed.

You'll basicly be able to have a zombie apocalypse all night erry night, or 100 Megan Fox's.

If you have ever dreamed of one, it's fucking depressing. Almost everyone you know is dead, the world is dark and decaying and you are fighting a losing battle for survival every moment you are in the dream.

Oh, and upon that, it's fucking worse when it's combined with a false awakening.
(False awakening = Lucid Dream without you knowing, looks like an average day, getting out of bed and shit in the morning.)

That's just a natural twitch or jerk or something, always happens, but rarely in Lucid Dreams ironically.
Oh, and about the Mirror, you do not really see Freaky stuff in the reflection you know, it's just what you want to see. If you want to see yourself, then da; you see yourself.

I think the scary mirror shit is just a dickish move made by other Lucid Dreamers to trick new Dreamers into nightmares, (Since the folklore goes that they should expect scary shit that would induce a nightmare)

I'm sure you have a phobia or two, your mind or subconsciousness will put them to good use in your nightmare.
'Das right, a nightmare that you experience in a simulation of real life rather than a dream you do not control, like going from watching a scary movie to being in the scary movie.

A Lucid Nightmare does not come about on it's own, it usually comes when a Lucid Dream inspires a sense of fear in you, or if your Subconsciousness is a dick and likes to piss you off, in which case; expect plenty.

Oh, on that topic; Subconsciousness, (Often referred to as Subcon or Sub).
It's a living iteration of your mind, full of every single one of your memories and your attitude. It's the Librarian and you are the Library, it's a rendition of you but in a different form of what you might want it to be.
But that being said, it's a different person, it has a wavering opinion on you.

A few tips for Lucid Dreamers regarding their Subconsciousness:
-You can summon your Subconsciousness, just make sure you are settled into the Dream first, it's usually done by closing your eyes during the dream and speaking in a context such as 'My Subconsciousness will be behind me'.
-Do not piss off your Subconsciousness, it controls the dream more than you do, and is everything you could hope to be and more.
-Do not, IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, as your Subconsciousness what your greatest fear is. You will experience a nerve wracking Lucid Nightmare. Sure, you can try and mask it by putting on a hurrdurr badass tone, but it's your Subconsciousness here, it will tap into your greatest fear and make you face it. You will lose and you will wake up with a stained bed.
-Yes, it's a person, it does what you ask it to most of the time, but it does have a mind of it's own, so trying to make it look like a purty lady who walks around in a bathing suit 24/7 will only partially work, for they will probably wear clothes in the end. I can verify that myself with what I have wished for my Subcon to appear as. purty dragoness lady :3

I just thought about this, I open my eyes turn around and a scary bloody little girl will be there from F.E.A.R. Lmao.
And how imagining things go? So I'm standing in a pure white emptiness, and I think of "I want some flowers there, nice grass under me, etc." And it will instantly be there? Or I'll have to walk/fly around to find those places I'm thinking of? (Didn't find anything about this, on any sites.)

This thread's aroused my interest in lucid dreaming, so I've been experimenting with it over the past few days... unsuccessfully.
I do recall a few particularly vivid dreams over the past year(s), but there's one notable instance where I was attempting to induce self-hypnosis as I went to sleep. I don't remember much but that was the first time in my life I genuinely jumped out of bed, and I very rarely experience falling in my dreams. Wouldn't make sense if it were a lucid dream, but still.

Also, [zombie] Apocalypse aren't great at all. I've got to agree with Headcrabs, there was a period where I had a good number of dreams like that, and
Quote from: Headcrabs on 04-01-2012it's fucking depressing.

I have them all the time, but I don't remember most of them, just vague moments. I recall having really sad ones as well as disturbing ones. The funny thing is, the moments I remember usually happen later on in my life, ranging from days to weeks to months later.

You guys are crazy.

There's two ways to do a lucid dream.

WILD and SILD.

A WILD is the easiest one to induce. Basically you wake up in the middle of the night, during your REM4 cycle and then sink back into your dream. This makes it easier for your conciousness to surface.

A SILD or MILD or FILD or whatever the fuck they call it is THE hardest. You have to go to sleep COMPLETELY aware of yourself. You cannot be drowsy, you cannot scratch an itch, you cannot sneeze. The best thing to do when trying to engage a SILD is to repeat a mantra like "I will realise I am dreaming." or something. Your body will try to simulate sensations like itchy and cold. IGNORE THEM.

You may also feel like you're paralyzed. That's perfect, you're almost Lucid. If you can't move, at all and you feel like you're trapped in your own body, close your eyes and count to five.

Open them again and you'll be dreaming.

If you start to wake up, spin around (in your dream). They say it helps. Doesn't really help me.

Everything comes naturally to me with the exception of 'falling awake', which I've been trying to practice on. Weird as fuck to be able to will your body into paralysis (or at least seem that way).

I think for some reason it could be interesting to try record yourself on camera while youre doing it, specially part when you just fall asleep.

I would like to do it... But if my pillows start flying around, or I stand up for ten minutes and sleep while standing, or 'someone'/ghosts come in and stare at me while I'm sleeping(Since my grandmother died in this room, and my grandfather just near this room), like in Paranormal Activity, I'll just freak out.

I tried to Lucid dream i just lay there and after i while my body felt like it was asleep and i had a wieght on me pushing me down. For some reason the feeling went and i didn't dream. The phobia thing is kind of making me not want to do it seen as i have aranchophobia or how ever you spell it (Afraid of spiders). Knowing my luck i will find myself having a nightmare with lots of damn spiders -.-

Nightmares are a good opportunity to get over phobias.
If you happen to get one with spiders, try and find some good boots.

I was talking with my sister about lucid dreaming and she told about dream she had:
She was in the house and somebody kept knocking on the window so she went outside and seen Death. So she came to Death and told her thats shes dreaming and immortal. And flew away.

I guess when you meet spider in dream just think: "Fuck you spider this is my dream, I can do what ever I want." Throw him on ice, put balloons on his legs. Or something like that.

I like how this thread, and lucid dreaming interests people :3.
Anyways yesterday I tried it again, and I could get my body to sleep I think, after 20-30 minutes of laying. I opened my eyes and just tried to move my arm but I couldn't it was heavy, and I was like "Am I in a dream? Or what? But I woke up I think, so didn't really dream anything.(Or I just don't remember it.) :V

Well, I managed to get my first lucid dream (Well, atleast one I remember). It was pretty fine, I had like a big luxury house with everything I wanted in it, I wanted a basketball court I got that too, started playing, I went outside and I imagined a pool over there, jumped in it and thats all. But atleast I could control my dream, finally.

Lucid dreaming is difficult I've only been able to do it a handful of times. There are key ways to control your dreams and once you are conscious of your dreaming state they're easy to control, but you're also very prone to waking yourself so just focus on your dream. To control them and alter your environment around you, simply imagine it. Imagine it as vividly as possible and your dream will alter to your whim. It's crucial not to think of other things and focus on the one thing you're trying to alter or morph.

One more important note: Your eyes usually feel like they're closed, so don't think of opening them.

I have a famous dream that I still remember today, I was eight at the time of the dream. In the dream, I was just walking along the sidewalk until suddenly I told myself, ''Fly, FLY!'' and then I flew. I then said ''MONEY! GIVE ME MONEY!'' and kept on with all of my wishes. I believe my dream lasted a week, it felt, yet it only lasted 12 hours. I didn't know what Lucid Dreaming was, I thought it was real life. So, for serious, I woke up, and threw myself off of the bed trying to fly.

That's my story, I've never had a Lucid Nightmare, just nightmares.

I got my freaky dream written down. Gonna search for it and I'll post it here.

Edit: Found them.

It starts with me going to a new school, a wizardry school.
Grandma and dad move with me there too.
First day, travel by bus.
Having fun with my new class mates in the lessons, one lesson there is always stuck deep in my mind, it's the necromancy lessons, I don't even know what else we got for lessons.

Second day, I miss the bus and call my grandma to pick me up and bring me to school. She get's slightly pissed. I then see my classmates taking a private jet that can start vertically with the school emblem on it. I go in there too, sit down, take out my phone and tell my grandma she doesn't need to come anymore, she get's totally pissed at me and says stuff I can't remember because I woke her up for nothing, like swearing, but not acctually using swear words.
We arrive within like 4 seconds.

First lesson is Necromancy again.
We go down there, what I also think is somehow out of place is, to get to the classroom we needed to go into a stairway tower, then move down like 20 stairs, we're underground now, then between thestairs leading up we just came down is a small winodw, a really small window we're you can barely slide trough, so that one guy opens it and lays down and pushes himself trough it, we all follow.

We walk trough some corridors with several class rooms at the side, then the last classrooms door is in the middle of the wall, like the wall is blockading the way and directly in the middle is a door with a pentagram on it.

We enter the room greet our teacher and sit down.
everyone then get's a doll, I can never remember the shape of it or the colours, but I do remember that it was no human shaped doll.

Class is over, we move up again and walk to the other classes.

The day is over and I go to the front gates, I meet my dad there, he says he got a job at my school as Gardener, I am happyfor him because he hadn't gotten a job since 3 years now. He walks away from me to the gardens.
Some friends come to me and then we talk a bit, still beeing on the School ground. They move on.

Then suddenly my dad comes up to me, he has something black on his shirt, he approaches me closer, I realise he has no eye and black blood is flowing down from the holes, he stares at me from 5 metres away and then after sometime he opens his mouth and his guts are flowing out with black blood.

I start running to me grandma who was today on the school ground too. I see her and yell at her that we need to run, she is still pissed at me and won't follow.

Then a giant Demon like creature I can't describe comes upto us and me and my grandma start running, she get's hit from the Creature with an Axe like weapon on the feet, she can't walk anymore by her own, I pick her up and run inside the school with her and up the staircases.

Reaching the highest magus tower there I lay her down and barricade the doors. Suddenly I hear a loud roaring and the double door explodes right in my face, me flying backwards onto the stairs a bit away from my grandma.

The Demon creature enters the roof we're on. He throws his axe and it splits my grandma in half. I started crying. The creature stood infront of me, kneels down infront of me and has a creepy smile on his face, it then says something with a language I have never heard before but somehow I still undertsand what it was saying.

It said, "Wasn't that what you wished for ?" and he coughs and vomits up all my classmates heads infront of me.

I am totally shocked and can't move or do anything, I am about to vomit too.

Then suddenly behind me the Magus Tower Starts glowing blue and a blue orb is flying above it, I look at it and then, a flash, I am totally flashed, I can only see white anymore and then I wake up.

mfw I have this dream

You dead son.

I wish I had titty city dream but instead I had a more zombie like dream.

Involved me taking charge of a group of suvivors and taking refuge in a school where we baracaded the workshop and held tight in there making weaponry with the forge and anvil.  After we expanded our influence after afew days coming to the conclusion the military wasnt coming so we took shit into our own hands.  In the end I lead a army much like Caesars legion and strove to dominance over everything.  Some fucked up yet fun dreams we have eh?

I've been having a recurring [theme of] dream which always involves me running from seemingly nothing in abandoned buildings/environments. Massive schools, factories, homes. As small as they seem I can never get out.
I continue running for my life from nothing, occasionally tripping or getting stuck. Every time I slow down or stop my heart beats faster and it feels like something's pressing down on my head. Now what's interesting is that I eventually come to the realization that I'm dreaming nearly every time, but it sort of fades from my memory after that ironically.
I remember a few tidbits, but those aren't really for sharing.

Running dreams signify fear or regret. Generally speaking you're unhappy with something. Anxeity. Stress. All of the above.

I can barely remember, but the outlines are like this:

I was going to fight my friend in school, and we begin to duke it out. Suddenly, we both walk away and I go on this bus to some random city and get dropped off. Out of nowhere my history teacher comes up and yells at me to go back to school. I go back to school and find that my friend put a bag of weed in a toaster and it is on fire. Then, I look at my friend and he's smoking a 1ft bong. I'm like "What the fuck" and just wake up.

Just remembered two good weird ones. This was when I was on meds for my arm:

1. I remember being with my friend outside this huge nuclear power plant. We were in an abandoned city and we tried to turn on the power plant with the switch in the basement. Suddenly, my friend says "Take the elevator to the basement encase the towers blows up". I get in the elevator, and it begins to ascend into the deep dark partsof the basement. Suddenly the elevator stops and another elevator drops down next to me. I look over, and somebody is standing there and says "Nobody has been here for a while, and your going to stay here forever". The, she screams and her face pops out at me. I woke up and was screaming.

2. I barely remember, but I was on this investigation in an abandoned airport. There was some ghost in there, and I had to hunt him down. There was all weird noises, when suddenly a scream came from the hall and a motor cycle came at me so I chased it down the road. Then I woke up.
Title: Re: Lucid dreaming
Post by: Dragon on 21-01-2012

This thread lacks recent posts, this saddens me.
Perhaps I should post one of my stories here. Ah, why the hell not.

So, I suppose the Lucid Dream story I shall post is a simple one, Zombie Apocalypse, very typical.
So, here's how it goes.

Pre-Lucid.
I wake up at 4 in the morning , my phone's alarm function goes off, typically playing what it always does, which oddly enough is the Degroot Keep theme from Team Fortress 2. I typically associate that theme with the whole idea of Lucid Dreaming. As soon as I wake up in the middle of the night, usually during when I am most active in the REM cycle, that theme always tells me "You're listening to me because you are going to Dream.". Hell, I've even said that to myself as a little mantra on one occasion, and now it's pretty much all I need to listen to before I start becoming ecstatic about Dreaming.

So, I generally wake myself up a little bit without taking my mind off of dreaming, I go for a piss (You don't want to piss in your dream. There has been plenty of cases where someone neglected their bladder and pissed themselves silly whilst they are in a dream.) and then return to my bed shortly after before settling down once more. I close my eyes and try to stay focused whilst keeping my body still. Sooner or later, I enter and pass the whole Dream Paralysis stage and then I just wait for a brief moment or two.

I begin to build up what my dream would look like; I would go for the typical awakening in my own room, with the house empty, void my subconsciousness downstairs, my usual set-up for when I just want to dick around in a sandbox sort of dream. Before I know it, I'm there.

Lucidity.
I wake up as per normal, my bed with the covers over my head. I generally begin the day by throwing them off of myself. Boy, I didn't expect what I saw. The whole room was ransacked, drawers pulled out, all my possessions and clothes scattered about everywhere. I immediately got worried; and wonder if my wish of my subcon being downstairs would carry over, however; I was unsure of any dangers that might have lurked around the house, I literally didn't ask for any of this to begin with, just my normal house and whatnot, what could have went wrong?

Instead of opting for my normal clothes; I rather went for my Stalker Outfit, which was just a simple rookie suit as it would happen. Tan Jacket with a hood, Jeans and Boots, and to top it all off, I had the S-1 Gasmask. Now, whilst I would have loved to stick to whatever game this was, I didn't find it appropriate since it was not a wish to be plunged into hell in the first place. I closed my eyes and simply stated; "Give me a god damn G36 and some ammo."
Opened my eyes afterwards and beheld the G36 infront of me, complete with a healthy amount of ammo, I counted about 5 magazines worth.

Picked up the G36 and stored the magazines in the many pockets of the Tan Jacket I was wearing, before I left my room. I quickly learned that my little abode was not the only room that had fell victim to whatever was lurking around the house. I decided to follow up on my previous goal; to see if my Subconsciousness was downstairs. I jumped down the flight of stairs before landing with a thud at the bottom. If anything was there, it deserved to know about my presence, because it had just pretty much ruined my own little world.

I immediately ran down the corridor and smacked my way into the Back room, and there I saw her. My damn subconsciousness (Her form is a damn Anthropomorphic Dragoness. How typical.) stood infront of the window, simply gazing outside. I think I stood there for 10 or so minutes, she was just ignoring me, or she had somehow became deaf and didn't hear the damn thud that I made by skipping a flight of stairs and jumping down recklessly instead.

I think it felt like 15 minutes later where the silence was broken, my subconsciousness turned her head around and looked right at me before beginning to speak; "You're up later than I expected. Like what I did with the house? Fits your dream perfectly I find."
At this point, I was damn confused, she motioned for me to come over to the window. As I began to walk, G36 in hand, I retorted back to her; "What do you mean Fits the Dream Perfectly? I wanted my house to be normal!"

Of course, then I looked out of the window myself. Nigh everything was abandoned, not a soul in sight. I looked back to my subconsciousness, meeting her gaze as she snapped back at me. "I want? Please, you promised I could set the scene next time. Zombie Apocalypse! It's a bit cliché, I know.. But hey; you've wanted it as well every now and then."

I simply blinked a few times, I didn't quite understand it at first.
"Here's how this game will go. You're in a Lucid Dream. You're the last person alive on Earth, and I will not be joining you! You will not be leaving this dream either, no matter how hard you try, no matter what you think, I will not allow you to leave, not until you finish this game."

By now, I really didn't understand. As I went to ask a question, she simply vanished as I blinked. My subconsciousness was a slight reflection of my own personality, it was cocky. Teaches me about who I am, if she thought that she could slip away from me, then she was wrong. I closed my eyes and spoke aloud "My Subconsciousness is infront of me."

I opened my eyes, there was nobody there. That always worked.. or, rather it used to work. I tried every damn method I could to leave the dream, but I couldn't leave. I did in the end, but that was after what felt like a few weeks, I will type up some details of snippets from this little hell on a later date, in the meantime, I must try and remember more.
