It already is a Sport, you can do this in Austria like everywhere on a mountain

I read something about upto 100km I think if I remember right, depends on how high your starting point is.

I think that same guy planned to jump from a plane and do that without a parachute, but with a giant slide so that it would slow him down in the end...
