Alas, no worries though. I will not be without a gaming PC for long. I'm currently scrapping parts that didn't fry and ordering a few new goodies. I decided to use an older video card I had (HD 4830) so I could invest on a beastly motherboard, this shit is future pr00f.

Behold...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157248

Highlights - Triple crossfire video card support, AM3+ socket (for CPUs that aren't even on the market yet!), and a ton of bells and whistles. I bought an extended warrently so I don't need to worry when I start ripping stuff out and replacing the other parts.

My master plan is to replace the other odds and ends by the time Battlefield 3 comes out. I need to swap out the PSU, get a better case, perhaps get a new HDD, and a new video card will be bought when I can't bear using my 4830 any longer, hopefully that time will come much later this year.

You sure a 4830 can pull off BF3 graphics?

If I ever upgrade, I could pass someone my old NVidia GF 9600 even though its outdated(Kind of).

Dum statement.

Most if not all mid-high end graphics cards in the last 5 years could easily run BF3. If anyone here is talking about max settings then get the fuck out you rich bastard. Playing that game is a waste of money because in a year your shit will be seriously outdated and you would have wasted double, if not tripple of what you would normally pay for a reasonable graphics card.

nVidia gt240 for $60. Runs everything juuuuust fine.

I got a GTX250 and I can run ARMA2 on max settings.

What. My GTX 285 can't run ArmA 2 on max settings. And by max settings you mean 10km of visibility, HDR on max, Antialiasing on max, textures, terrain and such ?

That's because ArmA II isn't about your card. It's about everything else, terrible optimisation.
I have an ATI 5850HD, I run things pretty good with that. You don't need to spend a lot for a decent PC these days.

I said in my post that I'm only hanging on to my HD 4830 until Skyrim and Battlefield 3 come out, I will then be getting a new GPU. I rather that not buying something right now that is very expensive to be ready for BF3 later this year, especially since a video card's lifetime value is so much shorter. The things I will be replacing soon will be the case and power supply. At that point, I'll be standing pretty well.
