This is more for the propagation/creation of some sort of internalised story arc, but would it be possible to make it so that any demonite item is (untill some sort of purificaition event) "tainted" and by using it you slowly sucomb to some sort of maddness? (possibly creating some sort of antagonist faction who soley deal in demonite?)

Excellent Idea, it could happen.

I don't like that I have to apply for Hellfire, is it because of the social issues or the effectiveness... If its social, we can just always wear something over it... and for the pickaxe... again, is it social or effects/effectiveness.

This is a roleplaying server, did you forget that? I'm attempting to limit the amount of 'super' armor and weaponry currently in the economy. Mainly because its the last tier armor you can get, it is usually everyones goal. By removing this goal, you can create a new goal for people to seek.

on the explosive rule does grenades count

And for the people who already have armor, they'll have to apply to use it or not.

You dont -apply- to be authorized. You simply ask me, if your on enough and such you'll be granted an authorization, simple. I'm not trying to have 100 people add me on steam and then ask me for a recommendation etc.

Now admittedly this may seem a bit unfair to those who have gone through the trouble of raiding chests, grinding for items, crafting ect but I think for the purpose of long term balancing and simply switching the focus from equipment hording to weapon proficiency, that each character should have only one rare weapon (or rather carry only one rare weapon) at a time. I suppose going to a chest and switching would be o.k. Also this would encourage people to specialise into archetypes such as a bowman or a sword user, generally enhancing the role-playing experience and stoping players from crushing players who haven't lucked out on the dungeon raiding. Maybe a similar limit on spells, perhaps only 2-3 per character unless they are a "mage" or something similar. (oh and maybe no higher teir ammo if you have a lower teir bow to stop people going for a gold bow hellfire arrows combo with a muramasa on reserve)

Kizuna

i molten pickaxe one that you have to apply for because it mines every block in one second.

Well, I don't think it would matter if you RP the right way, by text, and not PVP. In text, even the most unagile or weak people can beat the people with strong weapons.... by using enviroment and such. I'm sorry, but a limit on weapons? ITS LIKE DUKE NUKEM FOREVER! NOO! If you need an example, I'll give you one. PVP is only for Arenas I'd think.
Blair: *Unsheathes his Nights Edge and charges at Bob*
Bob: *dodges, the sword getting stuck in a tree*
Bob: *kicks him away from the hilt, and they begin to fistfight.*
You can see, even in RP he disarmed me quickly, and then it was evened up.

Blair's got a point. In RP-fighting, you're limited only by your imagination, and we've had a helluvalot more fun doing it with the little experimental mission I ran (and posted to the forums). PvP fighting is jarring, OP, and lagtastic to a fault.

Thanks for clearing that up.. thats the only part of the rules I had a problem with, so now, I'm fully happy with these rules. Hope they're added soon.

Theres also a reason why Muskets are authorization only, seeing as though in a RP situation, the Musket is roleplayed as a crossbow, which is pre-notched and ready to fire. Of course having to roleplay reloading and stuff. We do know PvP fighting is also unbalanced, but once again, what I'm trying to do is make it so people roleplay, instead of hoarding items.

Cpt.Gingerbeard

In all fairness Blair you do have a point and as far as "fighting" is concerned your method would be a lot more interesting (i'm more interested in the roleplay aspect than general battaling, would have joined a PVP server otherwise) But the reason i sudgested the "system" was more due to the fact that purely from a roleplaying perspective, it makes no sence for a single person (or the more likely, anyone with all the equipment) to be a master swordman, bowman, spear user, flail user, boomarang man, mage all rolled up into one. Usually that would (even in an exagerated anime) be exlusive to a single wisened old man or some sort of prodigy type charachter. I could accept a few people doing it, but more often than not, all people will be doing it.  (now i will admit this seems a bit contrary to the objective of my previous post, but whats wrong with wanting balanced PVP and more realistic (ironic considering the world allows for magic) roleplaying experience ;D)

CAMaera

another rule should be to have fun, and let others have fun also, by including them in your RPing, not leaving them out.

If you force someone to RP with another person, I don't think it would be fun for the person being forced, therefore, it would be statement that breaks its own rule.

Lord_Blair

Some people don't understand. When we said don't even try on the explosives we meant it.No explosives RP wise or OOC wise. NO EXPLOSIVES.

CAMaera

i didnt think anyone would break that rule o.o

Very agreeable and fair rules. Question though: Would one need authorization to go out in to the woods to build a hut or shack to roleplay a woodcutter, hunter, or forester?

No, as long as you build to the building standards, unless you have additional authorization for more space.

RoyRoger05

If you role-play as a miner, how far down are you allowed to go? Or do you guys already have mine shafts set up? Thanks.
