I use paint tool sai for lines and coloring and photoshop for things like lighting effects and ambient shading.  :)

The first two pictures aren't really good. From what I see it is just some MS Paint work although I believe I could be mistaken as well.

Not at all. It was a damn shame that someone took another person's hard work and share it as if it's there own because of the server. It would have been just better if they made their own picture then claiming someone else's work.

A ninja, what I want my character to look like, should I be accepted.

I made it using HeroMachine.

Action was taken against the member for copyright infringment. I also cleared out all the rage so this thread can get back on track. Ok? Ok.

This is good work, i am going to learn how to make good drawings so one day i may be able to draw my character too  :)

XD I don't really care if someone wants to give me CC or not.  I'm not against it.  But, for a picture that I only drew in 20 minutes, I don't think it's really -needed- since I already know there are a lot of faults that need to be worked on.  There always are.  :P  Artists are no perfect...well, unless you're, like, Peter Paul Rubens or something. @_@

You can find my gallery at http://mookyvet.deviantart.com (http://mookyvet.deviantart.com) if you want to take a look at it.  I'm still technically a student, so I am still IMPROVING.  :P  But, I would prefer to have CC on pieces that I have spent a considerable amount of time on because it would help me a lot more.  I hope that makes sense and that I don't sound like a bitch or anything for saying it. XD

And I'll try to post more sketches soon!  I got distracted, but I'm planning a quick drawing of Blair's character next, since he asked. 

P.S.  Those drawings were done in Paint Tool Sai.  They probably look like MS Paint drawings since I only used flat colors on them rather than bothering with shading.

I think it depends, if its already posted somewhere people can see it (like in google or on a public website). In that case you can. But if it's private art not shown to large public for free, then you shouldn't.
If it's art you bought then you can because you have all rights.

Another!  I figured I'd give Aurellia's outfit a bit of a change.  Removed  the black undershirt and changed the color scheme to match her armor.  :3  I will probably amp up the coloring on this one, though, since I like it so much. X3

My 2nd character, Prince Vaillaro Phel'Darris of the Tariel Elves.  The fabric-thing (I know that's not what it's called but I can't think of what it is!) around his forehead hides The Crest of the Annointed, a mark that appears upon a single Tariel's forehead once ever 500 years and marks them as the next King. 

:/  I am sad that giving him long hair also gives him girly voice in game, but I guess that suits his froofiness. -throws things at him-

XD Thank you.  And yeah, a lot of deviantartists also don't have actual trainining and only know criticism from comments.  :/  They think that negative criticism won't come if they don't choose the 'critique' option when they submit artwork and don't realize that negative criticism isn't always 'negative'. 

:P I'm not going to lie:  I DO love to hear when people like my work, as does every artist.  But, I do look forward to critiques as well.  I know I'm nowhere near perfect and if it helps me improve then I'm all for it!

I plan on getting those done today (and yes, there'll be more than one). Keep in mind I'm usually the one on the server, keeping an eye on things- and still have the Class Prop to finish.

Is there something specific it should say? Also, tried to make that first one (with the dragon-chains) transparent, but it ended up becoming... well, lets just say I might as well have bought the worst scanner-turned-typewriter in history, slathered it in peanut butter and tried to scan my foot.

After two painful hours trying to draw up something not nearly as good as Velspera's drawings I gave up, though I know I shouldn't but I'll just try later on.
Anyway, amazing work, I'll definitively try drawing something myself.

I'm a perfectionist most of the time so I try not to build to much on multiplayer or draw a lot. In the end it either looks awesome or its in the garbage. Now a days the only drawing I do is comedy drawing. For instance on another terraria server I had a joke comic strip. The drawing was terrible, but people liked the jokes.

I do play sims 3 and my character is a perfectionist... lol.

I got bored and since I do a tiny bit of SL Photography, I thought I'd put together an Ael avatar and take some pictures.

*Whistles* Very sexy drawings. Not in that way, but more in the way that they are arousingly well drawn. A talent many people do not have. I'm much better at abstract humans or non humanoids..... Humanoids aren't my favorite to draw. I hate the hands and feet.... never come out right.

What programs - if any - did you use to draw? Im a terrible drawer on paper...

Adobe Photoshop or Paint Tool Sai.

Blending colors in Sai is more "natural" and lines seem to come out smoother (line tapering is DEFINITELY much better if you have a tablet with good pressure sensitivity).

However, Photoshop is better for drawing very exact shapes QUICKLY, which is good for drawing objects and backgrounds.  Also, you have better options for adjusting things like color and lighting.

Oh.  And more layer types to choose from.

But, more often I wind up using Sai since I draw more people and nature scenes than anything else.  If you're just trying digital work, I'd use Sai first because you won't get lost in the program itself as easily.

Or, if you can't afford it try GIMP.  It does the same thing and it's free.  I've never used  GIMP myself, but I know a lot of artists that swear by it. XD

Ok thanks. Im to poor to afford PhotoShop so Ill use GIMP maybe. Its funny... I had my guy all planned out then I got to an utter loss when I tried to draw it.

And yes, I did base the rangers off of the rangers from Ranger's Apprentice, and I know my profile picture is from it, but I told my friend to draw something LIKE Ranger's Apprentice, not take something from the god damn internet.

Does anyone remember back on FRP where that one guy took HGN applications and put them on a shitty community, and he put Shitty Com's apps here? Yeah. It's like that.

I can assure you, I'm no charlatan. -.- I didn't know the one my friend gave me was from the actual site, I told him to base it from that, not steal it. I already took my money back from him...

 Art theft aside:

I side with Rago (Should I just call you Rag?  Rago sounds like  Ragu and you're not pasta sauce) Ragolution: Draw it first.

You may think you're not good at drawing by hand, but creating a drawing with the computer alone will only hinder you.  Most of the time, I draw things by hand and then just do the lineart and coloring on the PC and, to be honest, I much prefer working with oil paint or ink and marker than I do creating digital artwork.

It's easier.  You have a better sense of what you're doing and HOW to draw things when you can see the lines and shading right beneath your pencil/pen/other drawing instrument.

It's hard for me to describe it, but...XD Trust me, it's much easier, especially when you want to improve as an artist.

So: Keep what everyone tells you about software in mind, but start with drawing by hand first or you really won't get better as quickly as you'd like.

Also: Don't draw cartoons.  Draw actual things.  You'll improve much faster and become a better artist if you know how to draw a character realistically before you learn how to draw a stylized version of them. 

I draw in cartoony styles more than anything, but if I ever needed to pick up a pencil and piece of paper and sketch a picture of someone standing directly in front of me I know I could do it with no problem whatsoever.  I CHOOSE to draw cartoons because it's what I like, but I'd suck at it if I didn't start with the basics (and I still do suck at it sometimes because I've gotten lazy. XD I need to do more life drawing -sigh-).

Anyway, I hope you do take this stuff to heart.  :3 I like seeing people improve and I'm sure you'd make a good artist as long as you PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

I'm using little pieces because unfortunately they don't make very many big pieces that work well for nature set ups like this.

I had done this a bit ago, but I had been lazy so I hadn't done it when it was done. I got randomly sick though earlier today and was unable to actually take a unshaky picture, so it took a bit to post. Here it is though; Lego Terraria.

I tried to use light blue blocks to make a background, but I didn't have nearly enough so I just used regular blue blocks that I found in my lego drawers. The rest I used from a extra lego minecraft set I had.
