Fuckin A... Why do people want Fallout 1/2? They were great games but... Gah... Too big of a canon shift... Most players wont know shit about the canon!
Because FO1/2's canon isn't shit.
FO3 is very black and white with the Enclave being evil and the BoS being good. That is shitty. FO1/2 (and to some extent, NV but there's 900 million shitty, generic FO3 and NV Gmod servers out there so fuck it)'s factions are much more interesting in that they have shades of gray. The BoS isn't some messianic organization dedicated to saving wastelanders, the Enclave's goal is somewhat noble even if their methods are extreme.
The last time FO was good was when the server took place in 2236.
I think it is the case of quality vs quantity. Fallout 1-2 canon = quality while Fallout 3/NV = quantity.
Though I support the FO1 and FO2 canon, I voted for New Vegas. My reasons are purely simple, the main factions dont have the most powerful armor in the game, instead they have more balanced armour and weapons. Lets not forget the tactics are completely diffrent for the legion focuses on charging into battles with machetes and pre-war weapons while the NCR will take a more tactical approch to containing a situation. I can defiantly see more players on the Legion opposed to NCR which balances the legion with the NCR slightly.
We all know people are familior with FO3 and FO:NV canon more, but even if we set it during FO1 and FO2 canon people would ignore it NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE TRY.
Sure, theres most servers out there with FO3 and New Vegas but that just shows the point now doesnt it, people reconise that canon more then FO1 and FO2. As much as I enjoyed FO1 and FO2, I think unlike the other communitys out there that we can make somthing intresting out of New Vegas timeline.
