Faction Research Allocations

Well, I just had an idea reading the other thread. What I suggest is possibly a faction allocation page, where every week, a faction may allocate one point into 'Research' which will help advance Caphori. This is basically what I have so far.

The Vatican
Faction Size: 5
Plots of Land: 1
Headquarters: Blackmoor Spire

Research
Currently Researching... Magic

Points already gained
[ | | | | | | | | | | ]

Tier 1: Minor Alchemy
Tier 2: Moderate Alchemy
Tier 3: Advanced Alchemy
Tier 4: Weak Spells
Tier 5: Weak Levitation
Tier 6: Moderate Spells
Tier 7: Moderate Levitation
Tier 8: Advanced Spells
Tier 9: Advanced Levitation
Tier 10: Mastery

Some factions will be able to start with a mastery in a certain field (Ie. A Wizards Guild would start with maybe Tier 5 Magic and nothing else etc.)
Depending on what research, it could take a week or less. Depending on roleplay and such. What do you guys think? Maybe have certain factions have to interact to get what they want etc. Such as if The Vatican had excellent swordsmanship training, they could exchange some of their training for knowledge in magic and such, etc. Factions can trade skills around and improve their own by tutoring. This will of course have to be moderated, but once again I'll let the people decide.

IMO, this seems a little complex. Granted, not complex in appearance, but it would require an extensive (and much more in-depth) selection of potential researches. Not only this, but it would require that Factions have access to certain things that solo-ists would not (and never), and would always be more powerful than a lone warrior in every conceivable manner. I vote against.

should i assume that the factions themselves would obtain no real advantage on this save "first pic" on items and faction research will be more for the evolution of the world than the evolution of the single factions?

I have not been approved to go on the server yet, so I don't really know if this statement will be accurate or not (please forgive any ignorance), but, when you say evolution of the world it paints the picture that each faction is more of a form of government than a militia (I had guessed they were to be militias). So that way, when one faction advances something, their people gain from it as well, even if they aren't active members of the government (like a tavern owner, or a miner), whereas another faction would get only a fraction of said advances (like Faction A gaining advanced knowledge of "such and such", and then Faction B gets basic to moderate knowledge of the same subject, with little or no advances unless they also study it).

Idea stowed away for later, may or may not introduce it again.
