>DETAILS:
Greetings, Brother. If you're reading this, it means you've either been selected to lend your skills and abilities the Step Jaw Valley outpost, and/or you have volunteered to do so. In any case, I welcome you to our unit.

Half a year ago, our unit came to the Step Jaw Valley with a mission to secure the local power plant and salvage any available technology from Vault 100. However, it was soon discovered that we weren't the first to arrive. The aforementioned trading clan had already cleared out the vault, and the Enclave had moved in to the property of the hydroelectric plant. A brief conflict took place, lasting over several weeks, until the dam was secured. In addition, the Step Jaw Trading Company and the Brotherhood of Steel saw an opportunity between each other. Therefore, the Step Jaw Pact was signed; stating that the Brotherhood of Steel would give protection and occasional caps in exchange for advanced technology that the trading clan comes across.

Until recently, we had a mutually beneficial relationship with a local trading clan, and Elder Lyons decided it was best that we protect them when possible in exchange for the technology they come across. Unfortunately, due to an explosion at Vault 100 where the Step Jaw Valley headquarters is located, radiation killed many involved in the clan which consequently resulted in its dissolution. Our new objective is to establish ourselves as a safe haven for wastelanders and, according to Elder Lyons, develop a "militia" of sorts so as to use as a form of guerrilla warfare against any organized hostiles such as the Enclave. In addition, we must maintain a secure hold of the hydroelectric power plant for obvious reason. This key strategic point is located at the northernmost end of the valley, and the Enclave will stop at nothing to take it back.

Secondary objectives include elimination of any and all mutant threats to the civilian population, as well as the elimination of raider and bandit groups that potentially threaten the locals. The better of a reputation we have with the civilians, the easier it will be to obtain resources we require--such as medical equipment, spare parts, firearms, ammunition, and of course valuable technology.

All new Initiates are ordered to report immediately to the Commander Paladin for your initial evaluation and first orders. After that, you will be assigned to the first available Knight Sergeant or High Scribe depending on whether you've chosen the way of the sword, the shield, or the quill. They will be responsible for you from then on, and all communication is to travel through the chain of command. There should be few reasons why a low-ranking Initiate, Knight, or Scribe should otherwise speak directly to a Paladin.

Any further questions you may have will be answered upon your arrival at the Parker Complex Field HQ.

Steel be with you.
