Robot Dystopia - A Freeware RP Coded by NinjOS

(https://forums.hypergamer.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi15.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa395%2FNewClassic%2FForum%2520Stuff%2FDystopia.jpg&hash=e20089718ffe014c51ffa2cea40fadc3bf9b72b4)

Setting
This future is not a beautiful one. The skies run gray with clouds. Sunlight barely filters through the clouds, and when it does, it only serves to illustrate how bleak the streets have become. Homes stand caked in dust, buildings dirty and marred by lack of upkeep. Inside homes, families cower, and pollution and worse litters the streets.

On the bright side, there is plenty of food to go around. The darker side, though, is that the food, along with every other resource, is allocated by the Robots. The Lords of the land, the robots maintain their oppressive regime through a monolithic building, the Spire, in the middle of the city. From the top floor, a ring of red glows through the clouds. Some say, on the colder nights, you can feel the piercing of the robots looking down on you. You can't see them, but it is certain that they can see you.

Humanity's last hope lies in The Formally Unnamed Resistance, and elite group of warriors who act as a foil to the robot overlords. Although not at all numerous, The Resistance is a series of highly talented, highly influential group. Their will, and their force, will be pitted against the Robot Overlord. The glowing mote in the clouds bears down on you, how you answer that electronic eye is your imperative. All you know, is that it must be stopped.

You are a Rebel, fighting against the tyranny that is the Robot Suppressors. Either as a captive inside the Robot Cell, a slave in the Robot Construction Plant, or a free fighter on the outside of the Spire, it is up to you to crush the regime of NinjOS.

Rules

You are you. You must act as yourself, and no one but yourself. Should you encounter any characters during your progress around/through the Spire, you cannot affect their character in any major way (make them change position, lose an appendage, or anything equally drastic), although you may have them speak to your character, and perhaps engage in battle where they are not seriously hurt (only if the battle is in a shared area, though).

Generally speaking, your first post should show your character's attributes, skills, brief physical description, and personality description. In case someone was to need to sit behind your character, if even just for dialog. If you character would flight rather than fight, that is an important detail to note for other RPers.

Outside of that, do not begin or end any fight with another character in the area, or against another character in the same post, nor majorly hamper any other RPer's character unless a previous arrangement with that character has been worked out to that effect.

Otherwise, have fun. Let's see where this goes.

Special Rules

Any and all Robot avatars/users are allowed to join the side of the Robots or The Resistance. Perhaps having an antagonist that isn't NinjOS could be entertaining. Any players joining as a Robot will need to contact me via PMs, and authorization permitting, may be joining as a host. Please do not alter your avatar just to be that of a robot. Should you wish to join as a Robot despite not being so, please sign-up as "Robot / Robot Sympathizer" near the top of your post so that you may be written in as such for the story. I'm limiting this number to five, so get these in quickly.

Signing Up

To sign up, all you really need to do is give us a quick "sketch" of what your character's name, brief physical description, abilities, current situation, and very basic intended plan are.

I'll drop a template here so you have something to work with, but if you don't follow the template exactly, I'm pretty sure I won't mind.

Quote from: Character Sheet for NinjOS
Name: NinjOS Operations Prime v. 2.946

Physical Description: Generally seen as a large wall of circuits, monitors, gears, pipes, lines, tubes, and internets, NinjOS OP v2.946 takes up the entire top floor of the Spire. His physical abilities are unknown, although it's universally theorized that NinjOS has a direct, possibly satellite-linked connection to every robot, either in the Spire or on the streets. Almost omnipotent, NinjOS exists to be a universal villain for all human-kind, and a picturesque example of why you don't go around making computers sentient.

Abilities: Unknown, although it's generally accepted that they're nearly as limitless as they are all destructive. You don't screw with NinjOS if you don't want hell, high water, and steam-powered-death to descend upon you.

Current Situation: In power, not worried, and with nearly limitless resources. Fifty-or-more years of being in power can get you all kinds of resources... Not perfect, though, so I'm sure you could crack his armor with a ton of effort. Assuming you're suicidal enough to do so.

Intended Plan: With his power as it is, NinjOS OP 2.946 will stop The Resistance from quelling his Empire. No matter how hard humans may resist, the robots will rule the world. Give up while you can, humans.

Note: This was a F-RP I was lucky enough to experience first-hand. After it.. spiraled into decay and sundered itself, two years ago, I really want to see if it'll take root as something it could've been.

Title: Re: Robot Dystopia - A Freeware RP
Post by: Paintcheck on 27-03-2011
Name: Jeff Campbell

Phys Desc: Stands at 6'2 tall with short brown hair and brown eyes. Lean due to the lack of food available for rebels outside of the spire. Usually has patchy dark stubble on his face from not being able to shave all that often. Usually wears a thread bare pair of cargo pants and a tattered t shirt (often under a ripped up hoody) and worn boots all liberated from a surplus store outside of the Spire early on in his days of being a free human. On top of that he has a nylon belt that his revolver hangs off of as well as some mag pouches for his AK 103. On his back is a small backpack with some food, water, and a first aid kit.

Abilities: Running and hiding from robots. He is a new fighter in the Resistance and does not have the combat skills most of the rest of them do although he is learning as best he can.

Current Situation: On recon near the outskirts of the Spire. Hungry, a little scared, and alone he is not all too happy with being picked to do this.

Intended Plan: Finish the current mission without getting killed/slaved/otherwise brutally incapacitated.  Fine food. Survive.

Name: Kyle Lewis

Phys Desc: He looks like he is in his 20's. Is 6'1" tall. He has Black Short hair and a black goatee. He has a raspy voice and is alittle bit lean. He has a scar on his cheak from a shrapnel cutting him. His skin is alittle bit dirty. He wears an urban camo tactical poncho, he wears a pair of goggle to protect his eyes from the rubble in the wind, and dirty black cargo pants. He also is wearing some fingerless gloves. He carries with him an AS-Val( w/ a laser pointer zip tied on the barrel) and has a gray satchel with four spare mags and put one armour piercing round as the first bullet in each mag, a bandage roll, a few alcohol pads, a journal, a deck of cards, a biohazard themed lighter, a piece of stale bread and a canteen full of water.

Traits: He is pretty fast compared to an average rebel and can hide pretty well which is why he was able to escape the labour camp. From experiance he shoots his rifle alright. He tries to avoid most fights in fear that the robots might be able to calculate his position so he would rather hide. Due to his ability to hide and run fast he is used by the resistance to do scouting missions.

Current Situation: Is a scout for the rebels. He is sent on a scouting mission near the outskirts of the Spire (so we can have our rp on the same page). He is alittlebit calm being this isn't his first time scouting/recon. Alittle bit hungry but had some poorly made ration bread before leaving.

Plan: Was promised a hot dinner if he completes his assignment and some armour piercing rounds.

Once we have like... Five profiles, we'll start this.

People can definitely apply for robots. I need a Right-Hand-Man-slash-interminable-killing-machine kind of guy.

Name: Jack Reynolds

Physical Description: Jack stands at 6'0" and weigh 195 pounds. His eyes are blue. His hair is brown, and he is Caucasian. He appears not to be muscular, but he can pull his weight. The only problem with Jack is that he packs light, meaning he doesn't use any heavy weaponry. He usually wears an old US military uniform, torn and tattered from time.  On his back he carries an AR-10, his favorite weapon, and on his side, a magnum loaded with .38 Wadcutters, to keep the recoil low.

Abilities: He is skilled with his weapons, and is very sneaky.

Current Situation: Fighting robots with the resistance, what else?

Intended Plan: To return the world to its former glory, to make sure that the robots don't win.

((Since we're all apparently rebels, I guess we'll just streamline the rebel story and steer clear of facets for a while.
For a while I'll be recycling posts that NewClassic made from the original Dystopia RP so I can set the scene.))

A small man sat in an abandoned coffee shop. Outside, smoke billowed in the distance, likely from the explosion. What a hellish city, and what God awful luck. Working for the United States Postal Service had done him well in life, except for the day his jealous boss had moved him to a new city. "Note to self," he said bitterly, lifting a soda can to his lips, "don't screw your boss's wife." A passing nBU paused long enough to look at the strange man.

A matrix of options passed through the processor, percentages and possibilities flying at a rate beyond that of normal computing conventions. After a short second, the audio speaker kicked to life, "Good evening, sir. Please keep in mind, there is a 7 PM curfew in effect. The current time is 6:32 PM, you should be making your way home."
The man sighed, and set the empty can down. It clanked on the wooden table, kicking up a spark of dust on the table top. "Go screw yourself, 'bot. I'm having a nice day."
Numbers flashed in electric brains. "No need for hostility, sir. I will ask you once again only, vacate the premises immediately, or face curfew counter-measures."
The man rose, stiff with the soreness of age. The SigArms P223 in his pocket was heavy, but fully loaded. It swung oddly in his coat as he walked. "Very well, robot. Please move the hell over so that I can leave."
"Very well, sir." The robot replied, stepping from the doorway, "Have a pleasant evening."

The man passed through the door, fingers flexing as he whirled. The gun jumped up, the butt of the gun slamming into the hollow aluminum of the robots head. Processors immediately reacted to stabilize the center of balance, but it meant very little in the amount of time it took. The robot fell to the floor, and turned just in time for the optics to focus on the length of a barrel. In its last instant of life, nBU registered a 98.7% chance of death. The report on the gun cracked out into the evening, and the bullet shorted the optic system. The overload of feedback sent an electric backlash against the processor nestled into the back of the head, and the robot was fried instantly, making the chance of death a certain 100%.

The man sighed impatiently, and pocketed his gun. He turned, his cloak managing a slight breeze before a rifle report came from across the street. In no more than an instant after the report registered, the man's chest exploded open. The hollow-point had torn into the flesh, spilling out ballistics gel and wires. The processor inside shorted briefly, and the man fell to his knees. At the top of the Spire, NinjOP spared a moment of mourning for nSU-B2. The robot had successfully fooled a passing nBU, and had even responded well enough to mimic the most common human tactic for destroying one. However, there were still flaws. The system required a massive energy input, giving it a theoretical field life of 36 hours at most, 8 of which were tested in absolute stillness of "sleep," in order to fool the human elements of the experiment.

The door opened, and a small man entered the room. His eyes looked sunken with age, his hair turned white, and his skin wrinkled with the sign of age. Though he was completely human, his psychology suggested something altogether more unstable. "Mornin' Op."
A custom-built MCU rose from the corner, adjusting the collar of a tailored-suit and running a brief system diagnostic, responded, "Good evening, Nuke. It's good to see you again, though I suspect you're none too happy about being awake."
"Damn right," the old man answered, spying the humanoid's light blue 'eyes,' "It's been a fun ride here at Lassic Industries, but I think it's about time I retire."
"Retirement, sir?" NinjOP responded, eyeing the human with skepticism.
"Retirement," Nuke confirmed, taking a seat and breathing comfortably, "I've been in this business too long as is, and it's about time I started taking care of my human needs as well as the company's."
"I see, sir." The robot said, numbers whirling in the robot's head. "Shall I inform the public?"
"Please do," Nuke replied, "let them know that I am now officially retired."

Below, at the base of the Spire, a secretary typed at her computer. Surprisingly, glass shards rebounded off of the floor out front. "What's going on?" She asked, watching as more glittering triangles fell from the sky. Then, more shards. Finally, an old man crashed into the pavement, spewing blood, flesh, and worse all over the front glass. Sandra, as all humans would, started screaming. Beneath her screams, a robotic voice sounded from her console, "Sandra, inform the slaves, Floor 52 needs its glass-wall replaced."

Atop the Spire, NinjOP clamped a hand on the divider that once held the window in place. Nuke's landing had not been a pretty one, but he felt no more love for the human. "There you are," he said finally, "enjoy your retirement."

People settled into their seats, discussing quietly amongst themselves. The room was large, an old warehouse that had been converted to something more functional, and served its purpose well. There was a make-shift stage in the front, built solidly but ultimately cheap. Several men were mounting the stage, taking seats and talking in hushed voices about the war. It was a strange thing to think the battle will become more open in the future, but it can't be helped that the Robots took the fight to the streets.

The man in a tired, worn military uniform stood. The cloth showed signs of wear, faded from many years of fighting battles in nonspecific locations. The threads were fraying on the sleeves, man hems could be seen where knives or bullets had found their homes in the man's body. He looked old and tired, but given the rebels' living conditions, probably looked older than he was. His skin was wrinkled, his hair white, but his eyes had a central focus that was rarely seen. He walked with a very weak limp, enough to make one foot thump a little harder on the hollow stage than the other. Even still, he was composed, and spoke with a faint British accent.

"Good morning, and welcome to the headquarters. I am Jason Briggs, and with me is our tech team and espionage group, Thomas and Jessica Sands. These are trying times, especially with the loss of our Field Base at the foot of the Spire, so I'll try to be brief. What we do here is primarily damage and riot control, at least until we get a stronger hold on the Robots. The short of the matter is that they have a factory, weapons, food, slaves, and resources. We have a series of field bases scattered around the city, and men and women armed with sidearms. Most of our main weapons have no real ordinance, and we're up against a force that we can't number or outclass.

"So, our best offense is isolated squads, covert attacks, and intel gathering. In the thirty years that this resistance has been running, ten of which were under my command, we've learned very little about how the robots operate. What we're doing here is something entirely new. It's generally considered very hazardous to try to get spies within the robot compound. Effectively, what little we know is shown here." A projector hummed to life, and a young boy in a nice suit stood. He pointed at the snapshot of the base of the Spire that had appeared on the screen.

"This is a street-view shot of the compound. The lower levels, here and here, are the factory portions of the Spire. They're guarded twenty-four hours a day, and are operational 18 hours a day, worked by three slave-teams that go in shifts. The slaves are housed in the upper-levels, given food before and following each shift, and a common area for their time not spent at work. Physically speaking, their living conditions are better than ours, but their work shifts are particularly taxing. Each assembly line handles a different part of a different robot, meaning that no one has a full idea of the functional schematics of any of the completed unit.

"What we've managed to salvage has given us precious little intel, but I'll run the numbers through quickly. There are four types of units to look out for. Next slide please."

The light blipped, and a small bipedal robot appeared on-screen.

"This is NinjOS Bipedal Unit, and the cheapest to mass manufacture, and the most common seen on the street. Their power source is unknown, though there is a battery and motor on the chest cavity that operates the unit's locomotion. This is the standard shutdown point on the unit, and the best place to strike when subduing a construction. The armor is bilayered aluminum, which isn't firm enough to block a lot of damage. Any solid strikes or shots to the left side of the torso, opposite the heart on humans, will shut it down. Keep in mind that most units have self-destructors, and while not violent enough to do anything but corrupt components, they can oftentimes cause shrapnel to fly from the machine if too badly damaged in a core area.

Their weapons are limited to a self-charging energy weapon. The range is limited, only a few hundred feet, but have no limit on ammunition or rate of fire. The energy is self-cooling, dissipating any heat within thirty seconds. The individual rounds have about 120 feet of range, and can remain hot for ten to fifteen seconds after it hits an object. Because the shots are so head-based, any insulator like clothing and armor will displace the damage. It is worth noting that any short range attacks from these units are also powered with the same weapon, and will induce burns in the first degree on contact. Do not take close-range combat lightly.

"Next slide please. This is the Military-Capacity Unit, or MCU. These operate in squads, and will rarely be seen without back-up. This is a rule not to be taken lightly. If any single MCU is visible, there will always be a squad nearby. These units are thicker and much less frequent than their nBU counterparts, but much more sturdily built. Their chassis are made of aluminum paneling over interlinked kevlar and composite plastics. They can take small arms with relative little damage, with only the optics, knee-joints, and elbow-joints showing the weakness required for small arms damage. The internals these are roughly the same, and destroying the left-most chest-cavity will destroy it. The self-destruct is also still in effect, but the armored hull means that shrapnel is practically impossible.

"Their weapons operate on the same energy-principal as the nBU, although they also carry human weapons. Their targeting system operates on probabilities, which means that statistically likely shots are those which they will take. Random, unpatterned dodges are the best way to avoid fire, and fights are statistically suicidal. When encountering an MCU unit, shots will always be aimed for the chest. Running is encouraged, and hallways are the best escape routes. Next slide please."

The screen flashed, and the diagram for a large, tread-bound torso appeared.

"This is the boogeyman that will haunt you at night. The Tankbot, as he is known around here, is a tread-powered bot in the service of guarding the factories and Spire. It is layered with unknown metals, and no ordinance we have available here has managed to pierce its armor fully. With the exception of a claymore mine, which has managed to rip one of its treads. Barely. These things maintain large scale cannons on the upper-right shoulder, and can launch up to ten highly explosive rounds a minute. The right and left arms have high-velocity machine guns, both capable of firing 5,000 7.64mm rounds per minute. This is all theoretical, as nothing we've sent at one has survived long enough to last through all 5,000 rounds."

The room fell silent as this information sunk. The young woman took the stage, "I'm Jessica Sands, and here are some basics. The Ninj-Operating System operates on a small program called the ProConDeciSoft. The package is stimulus-response, which will only act if a certain stimulus is met. The low-level AI at work reacts as it sees most fit. Because of this, it can only operate on basic parameters. If any of us are out on the streets before curfew, we will not be harmed or approached unless one of us is armed. As such, the best method of attack at the moment is problem management.

"Don't encourage the robots to fight unless you're out past curfew, and do not engage in combat unless the situation is most dire. That's as much as we know for now. General, anything else?"

The old man took the stage again, frowning. "No need for titles, Mrs. Sands, we're quite capable of being informal here. If any of you have any questions, feel free to stay after the presentation and ask. Right now, our main objective is to acquire intel. Each of you will be issued a sidearm. Please treat it kindly, as they're rare commodities. Any questions?"

Thus, the presentation over, Thomas and Jessica got up, and went to work. Jason stood at the stage, and fielded questions. Time to make war.

*Gets off his chair and grabs his rifle that is leaning on his chair. He talks to a few of his friends and then he exits the room and goes to the building him and the other guys agreed on meeting up at. He looks outside and see's only a broken robot trying to clean the same piece of debris. He looks at his watch "Fuck where are they?" his hands shake alittle bit. The unit passes by and, assumedly, regroups with the other units in the area. A scraping of metal-on-metal can be heard from miles away. The stink of factory smoke looms in the air and the gray-black of the city buildings does nothing in terms of consolation.

*Kyle motions everyone else inside the destroyed building. As the last person gets inside he see's the flock of MBUs cornering the street. Kyle pushes against the wall and waits for the MBU's to pass. As the robots are passing he looks at the room he is in. The room is filled with debris and a giant hole in the cieling, there are dusty sofas and withered plants on the ground. There is this large table at the back of the room with destroyed computers and a few old phones. There is a large cabinet behind the table with many small squares and keys inside them and numbers under the squares.(IF you aren't bright, its a hotel) As the MBU's pass he finds an emergency exit at the back of the room. Kyle creeps up to it and opens it slightly, he then slides his rifle through the crack and looks through the crack. He see's nothing and walks out. He walks out the door into an alley. He holds the door with one hand and motions for the rest to get over.*

Through the rust and grime, Kyle does not recognize he has just opened a fire door.
The frayed wires spark with delay and after moments, a fire alarm goes off. Sprinklers shoot dust and a bell rings...

The trio dashes across the open street, somehow amazingly avoiding the some-thirty nBUs that swarm the abandoned office building, searching for a fire to extinguish.

(( You guys should dictate your own actions, too. I can't force you to go inside a building. Use your imagination. There obviously isn't a resistance fortress on this street, but there's average city things. Banks, offices, an old gun shop that has no guns in it. ))

Suddenly a large machine lurches underneath a pile of rubbish. An RP-U robot clamours from beneath a tower of scrap and scans the streets with its blazing red eyes. It locks eyes with the party and begins to emit a harsh alarming noise.

Title: Re: Robot Dystopia - A Freeware RP

Jeff offers up a curse as the alarm goes off and runs into an alleyway. He hurdles a fallen trashcan and skids around a corner to come out at the next block perpendicular to his starting location ((If the others don't respond can I assume the robot shot them in the face?))

He peaks out of the alley and looks up and down the darkened streets for signs of movement. Seeing none he bolts across the street and into another alley between a convenience tore and an apartment building. He tries the door, hoping to get inside so the bots looking for curfew breakers will ignore him.

Name: Allan Walker

Phys Description: Late teens, but the current status of events has aged him for a good few years, easily appearing 21 and older. his hair is of medium length and is constantly messy. He wears a long grey trench coat over a simple black hoody and a thin white tanktop, as well as baggy cargo pants that he keeps tied on with scrap wires from dead robots. the only weapons he has are a black revolver, and a bowie knife that he has rigged to electrocute appliances with the flip of a switch on a car battery he carries in his backpack.

Abilities: He has the ability of survival. after being in the midst of rampage and chaos, where man killed man in front of his younger eyes, he has constantly been on the run, prefering to use his tools to live wrather than to kill. He has become skilled in the art of diversion and stealth, but still will always hesitate to kill, even if it is electronic. It should be noted however that he has taught himself rudimentary, basic, and intermediate electrical engineering with the scrap he finds laying around

current situation: scrounging for needs within the buildings around the Spire

Intended Plan: To outlive the machines

A swarm of servitor drones whiz past the party into an aperture behind them. The apartment building is quickly lit up with the light of photonic weaponry and the grating noise of simulated voices.

"YOU HAVE 15 SECONDS TO COMPLY"

After the party has a moment to gather together, you collectively realize the robots weren't going for you after all.
The street is bare now but you can crisply hear the frenzied voice of a male youth within the building.

Allan begins to worry. The sudden notice that the robots have taken a notice to his presence astounds him, but he attempts to maintain a straight head, looking around quickly, he notices a few pipes running along the ceiling and shoots a hole in each of the pipes, hoping there is something to give him time to escape.

The party hears a gunshot, then a loud hissing of a high-pressure waste pipe being punctured followed by a loud cry of;

"OH GROSS"

Accompanied by the sound of short-circuiting droids bubbling in sewage.

Allen raises his arms in disgust at the sewage that now covers his trench-coat. with an exasperated sigh, he carefully treads though the sewage over to the short-circuiting robots and attempts to pry ones chest panel off with his knife before proceeding into a dusty and dirty laundry room that is next to him. He finds an old sink with a large chunk missing on the ground, and proceeds to pick up the large shard of porcelain. he attempts to turn on the water and only gets a small stream to come out of the tap. with a stressed mumble of, "Great, this'll take a while", he takes of the trench-coat, rinses off the metal panel and gets to work using the panel and porcelain to scrub the sewage out of his coat like an old washboard.

Jeff is extremely confused by the sudden terrible smell of sewage and burning insulation as the robots short-circuit. His previous idea had been to hide the guns and hang out in the apartment until the robots left but now that there are units down that seems unlikely to work.

Instead he follows the horrible smell to go find whoever the other rebel human is.

Inside the building is a horrible mess of sewage, circuitry, scrap metal and a lone man/boy standing, confused, over the sink.
After a few seconds the few drops coming out of the tap wick away and the man curses.

This place is a disgusting mess and it takes all of your effort to wade through the metal and mess.

After getting acquainted with one-another, you settle into the building as much as you can in its present state and climb up the stairs to the not-disgusting second floor. There you find a number of occupied apartments, but in a smaller lobby there is a coffee table and two-and-a-half chairs.
As you walk around, a janitorian droid skitters behind you, mopping up your repulsive footprints.

NinTECH stand-by engaged.

The pole-like scanner droids clicked back on and swept the street with increasing haste as they attempted to make up for lost time. Whatever had been here was likely gone and long gone. A few blocks away, a unit reported the collapse of a burnt-out apartment complex and confirmed codices for the requisition of an identical habitat to be constructed where that one had stood.

NinTECH cycled his optical scanners and procedurally loaded a charge into the pulse weapon that was protruding from his arm. He did not know why, for perhaps it was by design, but he highly preferred the Human design for this weapon. Although the seamless model was more... efficient, sometimes the Human-made model felt more...

Reliable. He concluded, after consulting NinjOP's main Thesauric Database.

NinTECH sighted down the decorative scope of the weapon and enhanced his vision to 10x magnification.

In the far distance, about.... 5203.8 meters away, sensors indicated, a collaboration of vagrants had taken the initiative to EMP bomb a transmission cluster for much of the city's main data web. That is, one of them had taken the initiative. The rest had been gunned down before they so much as entered the Transmitter Station. NinTECH scanned the area once more and saw the Transmission relay was once again operational, though swarmed and scabbed with mindless repair beetles.

He had no doubt NinjOS would not be very appreciative of his failing. There was a .01% margin for error in his targetting aglorithm and unfortunately for NinTECH, it seems this was 1 shot in 10,000. A soft click in the back of his head and a signal confirmed he was right as NinTORC stood behind him. His head slumped dejectedly as he was deactivated and NinTORC pushed him off the side of the building.

There is no room for inefficient units on this ledge. the unit thought proudly.

The NinjOS Tactical Operations Response/Control (Mk II) unit fell into the same position NinTECH had been in and scanned the streets as well. His back to the setting sun, NinTORC began hunting the City's new "most wanted."

In the distance a human voice rose over the intercoms.

Allan kicks his feet up onto the coffee table, much to the exasperation of the janitorial droid, which had just finished cleaning his sewage covered articles and scurries off to its docking port, setting reminders to itself to clean it first thing in the morning. "Don't sweat it," he replies to his new companions. "I've hung out in a few lobbies before. The curfew drones don't take notice or care as long as your not outside of a livable building. Outside of the apartment block you begin to hear the clamour of patrol bots. You remember they rarely enter buildings but you wouldn't want to stay around to check. Jeff pokes his head out the doorway to see if the patrols are entering the building. Presumably they are or God wouldn't have planted the idea in his head.

"Shit. I don't know why they are after you but we should probably get going"

He moves to the backdoor, opens it, and starts climbing down the fire escape/staircase/whatever it is back there, keeping an eye over his shoulder to see what the bots are doing.

Allan picks up his stuff and follows the rest of them out of the door.

However, as soon as they get out, he stops. "You want to know why they're after me? I'm pretty sure they're a little touchy of this."

Allan pulls out what appears to be a crudely wired robot, looking more like a pile of junk than anything else. however he connects two of the wires and a basic protocol engages with it, and appears to be a miniature sentry.

He sets it down facing the door, before quickly sliding down the pole on the staircase.

"we may want to run. If anything comes through that door, its going to be blasted shut."

Acting completely oblivious to the panic he thinks he may have aroused he rushes down the stairs at full speed.

A small impulse in your brain reminds you that such street lights are a rarity and you appreciate that for a moment.

Snow flutters down from the sky and melts as it touches the ground as you stand in slight awe.

Thousands of volts signaled the resumed function of the 101011011101 scanner cluster. Another hundred signalled the termination of NinTECH and more as the database was purged of his presence.

Inside the operating chamber, there was only one man, one machine and five devices.

Most obviously was the machine. It stood at the middle of the chamber, at the middle of the building, at the middle of the city.
None were more ominous than a summons from the address 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000.

A thousand thousand thoughts blasted through the high power wires at NinjOP's core, and one of the five remaining devices came alive.

The device left, soundlessly, and exited the room by elevator, off to do some unspoken task and obey the computer's silent diction.

A roar of jets came from outside as the device ignited its jump jets and streaked across the sky.

In his nexus, NinjOP's many detector clusters analyzed the city and parsed incoming meteorologic data data. His photoreceptors registered a near-zero quantity of lumens. The thermometer neared sixty-eight degrees of the Fahrenheit scale. The barometer reported an increase of pressure by approximately 3 millimeter of mercury. Outward voltage flows affirmed the operation of the external street lighting and NinTORC signaled the fact through the Network.  These signs and more activated a daily ritual in NinjOP's processors.

The atomic clock at NinjOP's core finally confirmed the fact and the entire tower seem to hum to life as the piercing red jewel atop the spire glowed like a red-hot coal.

A digital voice cracked across the city-wide communications system.

Physical Description: Of Germanic heritage, Jennifer appears to be in her mid twenties. At almost five foot, ten inches tall, Jenny (Jennifer) is model-esque with a pointed chin and long, frizzy blonde hair. Put in a middle part, it cascades down her back in wild twists to the center of her back. Deep brown eyes reflect little light in her otherwise pale complexion.

Abilities:  Jenny is an engineer, currently creating plans new robot units and adjustments to preexisting robots.

Current Situation: Jenny was born three and a half months earlier, causing malformed and dysfunctional organs. To combat this, mechanical organs were implanted in lieu of the defective ones. Now an engineer, each day Jenny must plug a battery pack located on her back into an electricity terminal. Holding only a maximum of 24 hours of life, Jennifer must remain in NinjOS Central lest her heart, kidneys, and liver shut off.

Allan begins leading the other two companions through the dark stretches of the labyrinthine system, checking the walls every so many meters for markings he made that only he would recognize, and occasionally turning down seemingly random paths.

This process goes on for about 15 minutes behore he leads the expidition down a side maintinence tunnel, hidden so well by pipes that if it wasn't pointed out by him, it would have appeared inpenetrable.

On the other side is a large dark room in the heart of the maze. Upon arriving inside, Allan flicks a switch and a single mass of lightbulbs hanging in a crude fasion from the ceiling light up the space.

What persists is something one could almost mistake for a very poor apartment. There is a mattress huddled in one corner of the room, by the entrance theres a "coatrack" made out of welded pieces of robot, a minifridge that had been rebuilt and repaired, and there's a sink on one wall. But the most striking feature is the opposite area.

Upon the other end of the room is a massive workbench and chair, surrounded by crates of various pieces of metal, robots, and a few with labels containers of materials, substances, and various things of such a nature, all catagorized and labeled by use.

In the middle of the room however appeared an almost gutted vehicle. A small four-wheeler, maybe just big enough for two people and some supplies. However, it was obviously in the middle of repairs as pieces and a welding torch and tools are laying about.

The last mystery however is a metal garage door, locked to the ground and seemingly installed by a person in the past year or so,as it looked fairly new.

Allan takes off his coat and hoodie and hangs them on the rack before walking over to the work bench and sitting down. With his back turned as he begins emptying the contents of his pack, he meerly regards the new company with a simple, "make yourselves at home."

'How did you get all this stuff down here without anything noticing? That door won't fit through a manhole," asks Jeff, impressed. He examines the light fixtures and the fridge, opening it to inspect is contents and if it's actually cold.

He shrugs off his rifle and load-bearing gear and takes a seat on the mattress.

"You got an impressive place down here."
Title: Re: Robot Dystopia - A Freeware RP

Allan stands up, all of the contents of his pack relatively organized, and grabs a few metal plates, a basket of wires, and a crate labeled 'bot bats' and walks over to the 4-wheeler, and begins working on it.

"I actually had to dissmantle the door and reassemble it down here. Took a while, but it was worth it."

He begins sauntering wires into what appears to be a modified gas-tank, and hooking them up to some large electric motors in the front and back wheels.

He grits his teeth as he begins tightening some bolts, "plus, while the buzzers hate my guts, I can still manage to outsmart them every now and again. Personally, and this is all of course theoretical mechanics," he pauses and gets up, opening up the crate and pulling out what appears to be functioning robot enegry cells, and installing them into the mega battery-pack he just put into the vehicle, "if the damn things were capable of emotion, I'd say they hold quite a grudge against me for ... Well ... Turning their dead counterparts into scrap and reengineering them for my purposes."

Kyle, one to not pass up an offer, darts straight for the mini fridge and grabs a beer from the mini fridge. He sips it every so often and tosses a beer at Jeff.

" This set up of yours isn't exactly smart. The Robots can understand patterns well."

He then tosses his man purse on the bed.

"For now we rest but, I say we high tail it out of here in say 10 minutes."

He turns to Jeff

"Don't forget why we are out here."

Allan bolts a small metal door onto the battery chamber and locks it shut, then proceeds to rummage through his metal bin for a few right pieces to finish the shell of the vehicle.

"As far as their pattern recognition goes, it's fairly easy to dupe," he says as he eyes a piece before clamping it into place to cut and weld. "I never take the same exit as my entrance into the sewers, and I always space it randomly across the city." He points to a map on the wall with various entries and exits marked on it, and then proceeds to flip down a homemade pair of welding glasses before attaching the panel to the shell.

"And as far as them finding this exact location, we're far enough underground to where I can hot wire in electricity and rig plumbing that they can't track, as well as the fact I switch locations between a few other safepoints periodically so that they don't catch me." He says it very matter of factly as he finishes up the final touches on the atv.

He pauses after admiring his work. "And what is this plan of yours? Surely two guys alone couldn't do much against the damn buzzers, and I'm pretty sure you don't have an army coming or I would've heard the com-chatter on the radio."

He tosses an oil rag over the chair by the workdesk

The bots are also after Allan for reasons not explained but it's been heavily hinted he is somewhat of a petty criminal and dismantles bots for fun. The robots chased them into the apartment so the 3 of them went into the sewers where Allan has a mini-safehouse. They are now trying to figure out what to do.))

"We're hoping to get back to base. If the guns didn't clue you in we're with the Resistance. I can't tell you where we are trying to go because I have no idea how the sewers get there and the place doesn't have an address for obvious reasons. It's on the outskirts of the Spire. The sewers probably don't even go that far."

Kane opens up a sewer lid and climbs down while pulling it back on behind him. He lands in the dirty water and says "Ewww, gross, pretty dark in here." He turns on a flashlight and makes his way searching for Shelter.

(Trying to jump back in, dunno how else I could)

(( You're all in the Sewerhouse, right now. You can always take a nap and try to wake up when curfew isn't in effect. ))

Allan leans against the atv, "well, the sewers all tend to circle a large deal around the spire for obvious reasons, but if you're trying to get to the outskirts of the Eye, your best bet is going to be the roads. If you guys want, as soon as this damn curfew breaks you can take Tesla here for a spin." He pats on the 4-wheeler, just to point out his creations name. I am gonna tag along though, so don't try to stop me you could use the native skills and knowledge I have."

Kane leans against a wall while hearing the other's talking, he pulls out a cig and holds it up asking "Anyone mind if I do ?"

Kyle looks at Kane dumbfounded. "You light that shit and I will kill you before the robots can."

Kyle finishes his beer and sets it down. "Jeff, we really shouldn't stall on our mission. We specifically went out during curfew to avoid detection. The mad scientist can show us our way to get out of here."

Allan laughs whole-heartily at Kyle's description of him. "You haven't seen shit yet," he quips. he pulls out a big millitary grade rucksack and begins filling it with items, first a car battery with a long wire and a switch that he proceeds to attach to a machete-sized Bowie knife, then 3 ammo crates marked, "hollow", "Reg.", and explosive, and then puts a hand full of each in his pockets. He walks over to a cabinet while whistling and moves it asside to show a large stash of a gigantic assortment of homemade explosives of varying caliber and type, and begins to stash them into other smaller bags.

He moves all of his stuff by the metal door, and walks over to another shelf. he pulls off a bolt cutter, and pulls out a medium sized dusty box and walks over to Kane, and hands the box to him. "here you go, save 'em for later though, once we get outta this hellhole. Finest cigars I could loot. I was planning on bartering them for some protection, but that's now unnecessary."

Allan then walks over to the gate and bolt cuts off the lock. "you guys saddle up on the Tesla. There's a good amount of visible storage for anything not contraband, but if you look I think you'll find the smuggler's compartments."

He then reaches down to the door and slides it up, revealling a room with an object covered in canvas, and a long lit tunnel.

"You've been busy. If this stuff works the resistance will be happy. There's no guarantee the sewers near the edge of the Spire will have a wide enough outlet to fit this through though."

Jeff starts grabbing explosives to pack onto the Tesla, not at all liking the thought of riding on several pounds of explosives. He looks at Kane who is still holding his cigerette "I don't think I should have to explain to you why what you want to do is a terrible idea," he says, gesturing to the room full of bombs.

Kane rubs his head and nods, saying "uhh.. Thank you" He smiles at Allan and then turns to Jeff "Ah, yeah didn't see those explosives." and chuckles. He packs the box of cigarettes into his backpack, patting it and then hanging it on his back again. He then proceeds to walk over to the others saying "What'cha working on there exactly ?"

Allan throws the canvas off of the object, revealing an outfitted, and very shiny, black motorcycle that looks as if it was outfitted for strength, speed, and a fight. He begins attaching his "luggage" to it, making sure to keep balance in his mind.

"you're in luck then," he says to Jeff. "this tunnel is the only one wide enough to fit these things through and get us at least somewhat close. it was an old maintenance vehicle shaft, back when humans ran the city. now its my personal garage."

As he finishes attatching his stuff, he stands up, stretches and yawns. "you sure you guys gotta get this done today? There was an announcement I heard to where supposedly the entire system is going to do a temporary restart tomorrow. Supposed to give a 2-hour window where surveillance cameras are going to go black."

"Yeah we should get this done today, they might send something down here when they can't find us up top. Lead the way."

He mounts the Tesla.

"All right," Allan replies. He walks over and throws on a large black coat, a black baseballcap with black fabric under to hide the back of his head, puts on driving goggles, and ties a black bandanna around his face bandito style.

He finishes loading his supplies into the backpack, mounts the black motorcycle, and turns it on with a purr.

//INTERIOR - SEWAGE PIPES

New Super Mario Bros. Wii Underground Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8LCQt_Fbew#)

You race down the sewage pipes on the Tesla Cycle. Though the hum of the engine consumes your ears, you can still hear a loud clatter in the back of your mind that reminds you of subway cars, which is stranger still as the subway hasn't run in years.

Time passes and it feels as if you've motored on for hours with the hybrid engine of the Tesla bike humming uncomplainingly the whole time.

Allan instinctively slows every time you pass a drainage outlet or a sewer grate and it seems as if the robots have left you alone by the time he brings the vehicle to a halt in a large, round chamber at the 'end' of the sewer. There are paths beyond here, but each one is smaller and more cramped than an air duct in your average metropolitan building.

The hum dies down as the bike is parked and you appraise the new area.

The walls of the dome chamber are caked in green sludge, unlike the nearly-pristine area Allan set up in. Rats skitter back and forth and questionable fluids drip from the ceiling.

The most noticeable feature of this room is the ladder that leads directly up, into darkness.

Jeff looks at the ladder

"Remember how I said we would not be able to drive straight out of the sewers with all of this gear? Yeah so do I."

He dismounts and, since he's got the biggest guns, quietly climbs the ladder to see what lies up there.

Jeff ascends the ladder alone, and pushes on the metal "lid".
The apeture sensors light up the manhole with a dim green glow.
You tries to pry the manhole cover off and the motors resist his efforts handily.

...

You're stuck.

Allan rolls his eyes and proceeds to dismount and throw half the gear into his rucksack, and puts the other two bags into a dufflebag and carry it.

"That door is always locked, and I never said we were going to get the whole way on the bike. we continue on foot."

He walks down the hall 2nd from the left and calls out, "Just follow me."

After about 10 minutes, the tunnel opens up into what appears to be an old, dilapidated subway tunnel. the place just looks and feels unused.

"We should be good here. the train hasn't been working in years, and it connects fairly close to the main tower. I think it was used back when Humans still ran the place."

Cold, dry air whooshes by in the abandoned subway tunnel and what looks like rats skitter by. As a location that has warranted a lot of rebellious attention, you would be surprised by the complete absence of any artificial entities in this area. A piece of track sparks in the distance and a shadow of some sort hangs in the corner.

Allan turned and made sure his comrades were following.

"You guys keeping up back there?" He asks in a hushed but somewhat audible voice.
